It's gone way past that now, I think. But yeah, Halo 3 is easily the biggest game of the year, and arguably the biggest game in the last 5 years.

I agree. I know that a game like this doesn't appeal to some but for every person that would pass on a free copy there is a mile long line behind them of people willing to pay out the ass for an early copy. There are so many great games and amazing concepts being made into games but this game, the hype and the marketing behind it have reached epic proportions. I planned my vacation around this game and other than two small days trips I have almost 2 weeks to enjoy it......as well as catch up on DVDs during game breaks.

I did the Best Buy $5.00 pre-sell for the Legendary Edition and I was wondering are they going to have a copy reserved for me or am I going to have to just get lucky and hope they arent sold out before I get there?

Well, my local video game store is selling Halo 3 today, but they only have the regular version and I kinda wanted the limited edition with the tin case and making-of dvd. I'd also have ZERO time to play it this weekend (it's my big 35th "birthday weekend", and a bunch of people have all sorts of things planned for me, starting with the Muse concert tonight), so I think I'll just get it on Tuesday along with all the other suckers...

Don't get me wrong, I'm so psyched for Halo 3, got my LD pre-ordered and I'm going Monday night with some friends to pick it up.

I just got charged for the Legendary version from Circuit City. Ordered back when it was only $100 and that's what they charged. Course it looks like it won't ship until 9/24 with an estimated delivery of 10/8. Oh well, I still have to get through Bioshock and I don't play that often. Plus I saved $30 on the deal so I really don't mind the 2 week wait....

..... at least that's what I'm telling myself now.

Just buy a regular version of Halo 3 and play that till you get your legendary version, then trade the reg game in for like, $50 and this way its like you just spent $110 and still got to kick ass.

No, there was a report on Engadget (or perhaps Gizmodo) that stated that those who played prior to the release date would not be banned. The ban was only in effect for Microsoft employees, for some reason. I do not recall the various details of the report.

Side note: Where did you happen to purchase said game?

We got them in at the video store I work at and I'm taking one home until Monday at midnight when I pick it up from BB.

In terms of pure sales? I think Halo 3 is already beaten by Pokemon Diamond/Pearl. More than 10 million in sales according to the recent top 25 all time selling games list. That would be a 1:1 attach rate for the 360.

But I think I understand what you meant, of the games coming out at the end of the year, Halo 3 is definitely the biggest.

To me, it is a combination of sales, hype, anticipation, lasting effect, and it's ability to move systems.

I mean the whole year, in terms of everything...hype, anticipation, and sales. And yeah, considering that Pokemon Diamond/Pearl are two different games, I'm not really sure that counts.

There are tons of people out there that bought bought Diamond and Pearl because you have to if you want to have it all. Plus the cost of handheld games is about half what the console games go for.

A part of me always hoped that Halo 3 would come so that you have the campaign on one disc and the online portion of the game on another. I figured you could either buy them separately or together for a slightly discounted cost. It sounds cray but I was hoping that each disc would be worth 1000 gamerscore and the total experience could then be worth 2000 instead of the normal 1000.

So I didnt pre-order H3...whats the best deal out there right now for either Monday night or Tuesday?
