Oh yah, just finished this on Veteran and did the Mile High Club Achievement too. The last stage (Ultimatum) was super hard, I was stuck on one of the 3 way intersections for like hours. So frustrating but so rewarding when I got through. The rest was easy compared to those 2 checkpoints.

I'm also doing veteran on my first run through. Just got passed mission Heat. Holy crap was that mission frustrating. The game wouldn't have checkpoints on the way down the hill so every time I got killed I'd have to start at the top. I must have spent more than 2 hours total (two sittings) until it randomly started giving checkpoints as I made my way down the hill. I love the game, but it pisses me off how hard veteran can get at certain points. The immersion and realism go down the hill when my squad can't hit anything at all and on top of that the second I pop my head out ALL incoming fire comes my way.

Yeah, but you're playing the veteran difficulty, complaining that it's hard and frustrating is like complaining that hitting yourself in the head with a hammer hurts. If it's that bad, you can tone it down a difficulty or two, you don't have to play it that hard. I mean, that difficulty wasn't even intended for a first play-through anyways.

I would personally like to complain to the person who had to put the melee attack on the right stick. I just can't get used to it.

They let you change it in the options to the B button but that puts crouch/lie prone on the stick then. I wish nothing was on the stick except looking around. Maybe I'm just not a quick learner but I always seem to push on the stick when I run up on someone and get into a quick firefight which either makes me swing a knife and miss horribly (and subsequently get shot) or crouch/lie prone (and subsequently get shot). Argh!

So what's everyone's favorite weapon?

I like RPD (with Laser scope and shoot from the hip perk) and M16 (also with Laser scope).

I haven't unlock some of the badder guns (37+ ranks)

I'm due to get my 360 back today, after 3 and a half weeks. You guys haven't been having fun without me, have you?

What are some of the better guns in the game people have been using?

I'm only up to level 22.
I started using the saw and got the red dot scope for it. I recently changed to the M16 and now have the red dot.

I usually run with that. Occasionally I'll use one of the semi-auto sniper rifles I unlocked.

Stick with the M16, the accuracy really helps. I bring the RPD when I know I need to mow down a bunch of people in Team Objectives like Domination/HQ where you have to defend a spot.

I think once you get to higher level though, the better guns take over.

Drives me NUTS too. Always seems to happen at the worst possible moment, with that knife swinging around as I'm getting gunned down...

I'm loving the G3 with the red dot scope. I heard there was a perk that let you have two primary weapons. Is that true? That would be awesome since the G3 is like a medium range sniper rifle. I'd love to have that and a G36 for up close action.

The perk is called Overkill, and you can unlock it at level 38.

The M4 with the Acog scope is my favorite. The M16 is second. The M60 would be third. Throw a grip on it and go to town

That all changes at 40 though when I get my P90. Only 3 more ranks.

I'll have to try the M4, if I have it unlocked. I do decent with the M16, but I find myself out gunned a lot of times, esp against higher ranked people.

I have heard good things about the P90. I picked it up once from a dead corpse and the rate of fire is awesome.

Oh and I just wanted to say the best thing about playing the PS3 version is the people you get to play against. People with names like BayCityHustla or Gznhoz or Reefacheetah or 420tonite or Tokinsmokin. Obviously intelligent individuals.

My favorite was the guy ranked 55 that won the match with 30 kills. He only died 4 times (twice by me) and after the match he says "Loooossssers! DAYYYUM I smoked y'all 30-4. I better ditch you guys and get a real challenge"

Then there was the people that kicked me from a room because I beat them in a free for all with 21 straight kills. I never use the mic so I don't talk shit or say anything. I thought it was funny they'd boot me for winning.

I always do the same except I typically use double tap so the rate of fire is even better

Sadly, that isn't exclusive to PS3 online offerings. You will see that much if not worse in many Live enabled games. Try getting into a match of Halo 3 with a bunch of 8-12 year olds who feel they always have to sing or yell because they have a mic on their head. Nevermind that the game is supposed to be played by 18 and older.

The best thing for the M16 is to tap a few shots out as opposed to holding down the trigger and doing a spray and pray. The M4 you can hold down and get better results.

I try to use all the weapons to unlock the challenges as well.

As I said before, the funniest kid online had an Elmo voice and was dropping F-bombs left and right. He kept screaming when he died, too.

Oh and another guy kept arguing with his wife/girlfriend. He was like "shut up bitch, I need a few more kills for General."

It's nothing worse than during COD1 multiplayer (PC) where many kids screaming "headshot!!!" typed in public announcement repeatly.

Has any body come across any weapons guides online? I would like to compare some of the atributes between weapons. Also where can I get a description of what the perks actually do? Most are self explanatory but some aren't. Like Deep impact, does that make my bullets go through heavier materials? If so how thick, am I just wasting ammo trying to hit someone behind a brick wall.

when you select weapons in the 'create a class' screen it shows a 'level' of Damage, Accuracy, Range, etc below the picture of the weapon. HOWEVER, it still seems so damn arbitrary. I picked up the 50cal sniper rifle in a game and thought for sure id get one hit kills with the thing (as long as i landed shots in the torso) and damned if it still took 2 or 3 hits to kill. Its like that with many guns in this game--forget about shottys.

I'm finally able to pick this up tonight...so who wants to help me with some achievements? Steelgear? Chibul? I'm talking to you!

Keep in mind this will be my first Call of Duty game...
