Re: FFXIII no longer a PS3 exclusive?

Ugh, I didn't realize until I saw some pics in a Japanese magazine that XIV is an online game. Oh well, guess I can take my time with XIII then.

Re: FFXIII no longer a PS3 exclusive?

For the first time ever I'm not overly excited for the release of a Final Fantasy game. I don't know what it is about this game but from what I've seen and read about it, it just doesn't excite me as much as the previous titles. We'll see though....It's still a day one purchase for me.

Re: FFXIII no longer a PS3 exclusive?

Maybe it's because FFXII was so boring and this just looks like a rehash of FFX/FFX-2 (in terms of artistic design)? I'm none too excited but I wonder if it's simply the previous disappointment and the "I've seen this all before" character designs that hurt any enthusiasm I might have otherwise mustered. The reports of no towns and total linearity sure didn't help either.

From what I understand, the first half of the game or so is completely linear but after you reach a certain point and complete a certain event then the game opens up and allows you to freely explore on your own.

Re: FFXIII no longer a PS3 exclusive?

Oh so like FFX then? That's okay then since I still have the option to explore at some point. Too bad they ditched having towns, though.

Did the same team that worked on FFX make FFXIII? Because they both look strikingly similar.

Re: FFXIII no longer a PS3 exclusive?

Funny. I thought FFIV being online was common knowledge. Hence why the upcoming FFXIII Versus (a totally different story set in the same universe as FFXIII) is set to be an offline game.

So it's like Final Fantasty VII onward.

Funny how this thread got bumped last night.

Re: FFXIII no longer a PS3 exclusive?

It involves certain topics not allowed on the forum. I'll leave it at that. Could have just been a coincidence.

Is anyone planning on picking up the guide for this one? I'm curious how helpful it would be considering the linear nature of most of the game.

Do you mean that the game was leaked?

I know some people have a retail game early, but yeah, a game of this magnitude is sure to be leaked by now.

Re: FFXIII no longer a PS3 exclusive?

Yes its true the FFX team made FFXIII. Also it has been discovered that the fmv in the 360 version runs at 576p as well just like the game.

Re: FFXIII no longer a PS3 exclusive?

I saw that GS/EB is offering a mini strategy guide with pre-order. I'm not sure about Best Buy.

I must be the only one that doesn't care about God of War 3. I never finished the first one, and never played the second.

Amazon has a 10 dollar off future purchase deal.

edit: apparently Target will have a 10 gift card deal too.

I have a feeling the NPD numbers will support your claim

God of War looked great even on PS2, and I bet the updated version looks excellent, too. The game was alot of fun, those types of games just aren't my cup of tea. Same reason I never got into the Halo series.

Naw I'm with you, I always found the GoW games to be really repetitive. Got bored of them well before finishing either.

You don't like action games and you don't like shooters... what's left?

The two don't even really have anything to do with each other, not sure how one relates to the other.

I don't have a PS3, else i'd be all over GoW3. Loved the first two, but I'm happy getting FF13 on my XBox. I think there's probably less of an overlap between JRPG fans and those playing God of War

I play GoW for the story and the epic setting alone. The gameplay takes a very distant backseat, but I appreciate it for what it is. But I'm also a Ninja Gaiden fan, so I'm no stranger to the block/roll/strike mechanic.
