Re: FFXIII no longer a PS3 exclusive?
I think it will, and probably already had a small impact when the announcement came. The core Final Fantasy games have been a big deal since the FF7, and knowing you won't need to buy a PS3 to play the next one will certainly mean there's yet another reason to not buy a PS3.

Bumping this one up because the JPN/Asian version are now released. I'm so tempted to import but neither has any English. The Asian version has an slip-sheet in English with the controls but nothing in-game. Waiting till March is going to be torture.

There's a black LE PS3 for FFXIII too. They're selling for about $750 through importers. Way out of my price range.

Hong Kong Magazine gives Final Fantasy XIII a 4 out of 10
A Hong Kong magazine has featured a review of Final Fantasy XIII, and it's one of the most damning reviews of all time. We don't normally post stories about another outlet's review content, but this is too amazing to ignore. Calling Final Fantasy XIII the "biggest joke of 2009" and a huge swindle is something worth seeing.
"The game is complete linearity until the open areas near the end. You can't even backtrack," writes the reviewer. "Of all the RPGs I've played in recent years, this is the first which has been so linear that it's little more than riding an amusement park ride."
The combat system was torn to shreds as well: "A button mashing puzzle game with no real strategy or RPG elements and a plethora of annoying features, game as a whole is little more than a digital novel of sorts. For such a game to approach 2 million copies sold must be due solely to the strength of the Final Fantasy brand ... biggest swindle in gaming history ... biggest joke of 2009."
The game received a 4/10 in the score department:
Scenario: 2.0 — "An epic tear jerker"
System: 1.0 — "Such a crude system barely warrants being called an RPG at all."
Graphics: 9.0 — "Full marks here."
Sound: 7.0 — "Mostly quality."
Enthusiasm: 1.0 "As if you could play this for 100 hours! I could put up with 8."
Total: 4.0 — "To think it got this bad…"
No idea how you can get a 2.0 for something considered an "epic tear jerker," but there you go. Apparently the review was so intense and surprising that even the magazine issued a disclaimer calling the journalist in question a "non-gamer" and "borderline-retarded." So yeah, if you value the opinion of retarded non-gamers in Hong Kong, steer clear of Final Fantasy XIII!

-Holy shit. I hope it's just some pissed off ps3 Fanboy review. I've been anticipating this game for years.

Re: FFXIII no longer a PS3 exclusive?
Who knows, they may have screwed the pooch on this one. I hope not though. I love how people get defensive though when someone gives a bad review of a game even though they themselves have not played it to prove whether it is warranted or not.
a lot of people who played the demo or finished the import are also mimicking the fact that it's very very linear. A linear RPG is a dealbreaker for me honestly. That is not what RPG's are about. If I hear this from like ign or gamestop in their articles I will be cancelling my preorder.

Re: FFXIII no longer a PS3 exclusive?
Although i enjoyed the story and characters of FF X for the most part (Except for Wadda) The linerity of the game was really crappy.
FF X111 is looking like it'll share the same fate with X. There's also something about the characters that all come off as Douchebags. The only one that looks interesting is the main Female character.
I may hold off on this one unless I hear some positive reviews from trusted sources.
