I'm a little disappointed to see that the price on Rockin the 80's seems to be $50, considering it's essentially an expansion without being one (minor graphical tweaks, fewer songs). But the truth is, I'm going to bite. Hell, even if I wasn't interested in any song announced for it, I would. If they threw in two free groin kicks with every purchase, I probably still would. I love ruining it for everyone! If I were a 360er, I'd buy the DLCs too.

I'm really hoping that the new color schemes for GH3 are related to maneuvers like HO/PO, too, and not a requirement for a new guitar. Although, again, I'll fork over my cash for whatever they wanna sell me. Damn digitized crack.

I would think that they could spin this into a pretty positive situation with really good press if they wanted.

Think about it - after all the uproar, they could come out and release a set (or two) of 3 songs for free (thus offsetting the price of the first 3 DLC packs). This would make people happy (unless the free songs stunk, then people would complain - but free is free). Then, a month later, release 3 new packs at a lower cost. Happiness all around, right?

That would make me happy and I'm sure a lot of people.

Releae 9 songs for free.

Then next month or two, release 9 more songs and charge 250 per 3 pack.

I'd buy the 18 pay and get the 9 free at that point.

And the bands + record label. Unless they find bands willing to let them use their songs for free in exchange for the exposure, I can't see the song packs ever being free or even dirt cheap.

Yes, but the thing is that the game came out and had 50+ songs for $50. We're being asked to pay a bit more then double the price per song and that were already licensed for the game in the first place.

They are just continuing to see how much they can milk money from people through the marketplace.

If these were songs that were not in any GH game yet, then I might see the justification for the higher price.

But these are songs that were already recorded and licensed and royalties, etc paid in the first place. They just got a shiny coat of paint to make them playable in the 360 version. That, to me, doesn't warrant the extremely high price point. Esp when the rumors first broke about the DLC songs, everyone wa saying 300 points per 3 pack. I believe I even read it that on the more reputable online gaming sites.

I'm still having trouble getting through The Trooper on medium. That's the only song I still need to get 5*'s on. I keep missing the third note of the 4 note riff. I've practiced at each speed level but I've got some kind of mental block or something. I've beaten all songs on hard up to Freya which is just insane. I've 5*'d the the first tier on hard and I am working my way up. I've only beaten 8 songs on expert so far.

I think the Trooper took me a try or two to 5* in Medium.

I'm still stuck at the same point on Hard. I just cannot get past about 63% on Freya.
I've only 5* a few songs on Hard as well as only passed 2 songs I tried on Expert.

I still cannot 58 my remaining 3 songs on Medium. Maybe if I am able to exchange my defective guitar, I will be able to use star power more and rack up more points to push me over the 5* barrier.

Vryce & edstein, On the "broken record" part in Freya, the 3rd note of each set of 3 notes is twice as long as the first 2 notes, making you want to pause before starting the 1st note of the next set... don't bother pausing and go right into that next note.

Rumor (or not) ...

Can anyone confirm that there are, indeed, 3 new DLC song packs coming? This was posted overon xbox.com's forums

"I Love Rock & Roll" - Joan Jett & The Blackhearts
"Cochise" - Audioslave

Content Pack 2:

"I Wanna Be Sedated" - The Ramones
"Sharp Dressed Man" - ZZ Top

Content Pack 3:
"Iron Man" - Black Sabbath
"Take Me Out" - Franz Ferdinand
"Smoke on the Water" - Deep Purple

I'm stuck on Freya in Expert. It's keeping me from opening up Last Child (which I can already pass, in Quick Play), which is keeping me from opening up the next tier.

Driving me nuts. It's an awful, plodding, repetitive, piece-of-shit song, and once I beat it, I'll never play it again for as long as I live. Fuck five-starring it.

(Thanks--that felt better. )

These packs were leaked from the same guy that leaked the tracks in the first three packs, so I have no doubt that they are/were legit. However, Red Octane has really said nothing since the whole DLC pricing debacle. Pretty much anywhere on the web that mentions GHII 360 has a gigantic section on how pissed people are over the pricing of the DLC. The delay in releasing these packs could be related to them trying to come up with a new pricing structure that won't piss off the people that bought the original three packs, or possibly they just scapped the whole DLC thing, since there was such a backlash.

Originally they stated that they would be putting out DLC once a month, and May is just about over. If we don't see anything by June 1st (new packs, or even an explanation of what's going on), I would wager a bet that the DLC is officially dead.

You sound just like me when I was stuck on that song. I hate that song as well, and was cursing it everytime I played it. It was definately the hardest song for me to beat. Once I beat that one, though, I flew through the rest of the songs fairly easily. The only song that took some time to beat in the last tier, was Institutionalized. I didn't even 4 star any of them, but I beat them usually in a couple of tries. I'll go back through expert and try to get better on a lot of songs, but screw Freya.

Sadly - if nothing happens in the next day or two, I would imagine someone will be starting a class-action against RO for false advertising. Same with whoever made Lumines (where the hell is my background Madonna video??)

There is talk over on the official Guitar Hero forums about the class-action lawsuit already. I'd definately get in on it, as I'm ticked off about the lack of DLC, and not the prices. I was perfectly happy paying 500 points a piece, as I usually only pay about 75% on points cards.

It's good to know that I'm not the only one who's had problems with that song. I'm gonna work on it some this week. It'd be great to get some more songs opened up, and to never have to hear Freya again, ever.

Those have been in the rumor mill for about a month now with no sign of a price or release date. I wouldn't hold my breath. =/

I finally 5* the trooper on expert last night. I could never consistently hit all the notes on the main riff, and played around with different tapping methods and learned I could hit all the notes if I tapped with the middle of my fingers instead of my finger tips.

And now on to Rock this Town...

I'm playing co-op with my son and we have not been able to 5 star Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You, despite both of us missing only 1 note each. We tried again last night and both got 100%, but still only 4 stars!

We also both got 100% on Dead! but didn't get the gold stars

Stars are based more on score than on percentage, I believe. Try using more star power maybe?
