GH2 / Guitar Hero II Thread: The First Encore

I still don't see what the big deal about wireless is. Corded controllers have never been a nuisance in the past for me. The only time I had an issue was when I brought my PS2 to work to play GH on the projector and the cords weren't long enough to stand directly in front of the screen. I just bought a couple extension cables and everything was peachy.
I guess I'm just worried about always replacing batteries, or a shaky signal, or the batteries dying/going low in the middle of a song and screwing everything up. Granted, I do play with the wireless controllers on the 360 normally, but I've got the play and charge ready in case anything happens. I normally recharge after every session, so it's not a huge deal, but I heard that wiimote batteries only last about 10 hours or some crap like that.

We have three guitars in a custom sized space just for them in our entertainment center and that is already cramped with their wires. I cannot imagine adding another 20 feet of cord (two 10 foot extensions, at least) into that space.
Plus, my 360 controllers are wireless. When I get a Wii, that will be wireless. Even though I'll never buy a PS3, they are wireless. Coming out with a wired 360 guitar is just ridiculous in every way. Also, when I put my home theater together the 360 will be about 10 feet away from us behind the couch, so we'd have cords running across the entire basement. It's stupid to not go wireless anymore.

Yep, well said Draven. I had to pick up the damn controller extension for GH II and it really sucks. Now it's too long, and there's so much drag that people are literally tripping over it in my living room. I understand it would be annoying to crap out in the middle of a song, but I'll take that risk to not worry about wires anymore.
And I wholeheartedly agree that it sucks to take a step backwards in technology. I haven't heard any complaints about any of the wireless controllers or components yet, and Red Octane's suggestion that MS wouldn't allow them to make a wireless guitar is starting to ring hollow if they can already announce wireless support 8 months away. It's starting to feel like a ploy to buy more damn guitars, and if that's true, I'll be extremely pissed off.

Christ, if I hear the words "It's a psychobilly freakout" one more time, I think I am going to stab my ear drums out. I am trying to 5 star it on Medium and every time it gets to the R/G and Y/B repeating I completely fuck it up. I know I should be holding down the furthest note when doing it, but I just can't seem to get my rhythm going.

Also even if they release a wireless guitar for the 360 tomorrow it doesn't mean their non-inclusion in GH2 wasn't a result of MS. They could have come to a licensing agreement or something. The GH2 hardware had to be finalized several months before release and if MS wasn't budging then it's still their fault, no matter when they change their policy.

Hell, I still go back and play GH1 every so often.

I don't see how Neversoft could mess the franchise up, it's a fairly simple thing to make a sequel to. Throw a bunch of new songs, update the graphics a tad and throw online play in and presto! You have Guitar Hero 3! Yea, kinda sounds like a Tomb Raider update, but still, that's all sequels are, the same thing slightly updated.
I am more curious on the DLC situation. Will you be able to download songs from Guitar Hero 2 and play those in Guitar Hero 3? Will they quit putting DLC out for Guitar Hero 2 or will they put content out for both, so that they can truly nickel and dime the consumer.

My buddy just left from a 5 hour co-op fest. My hands are aching so bad. We just started at the top of the list and worked down until we couldn't play any longer. I'm happy that we got the 500 note streak and 100% co-op achievements. Shame he is headed back to Georgia soon.

Wait. People play Guitar Hero sitting down?

And I have no problems playing the game sitting down. I just sit on the edge of my chair. I've never been one to really "rock out" in the game anyway. Gets silly after awhile.

I mix it up a bit. I began playing sitting down, and did pretty well with most of the songs. I'm now standing, as I needed to loosen the strap a bit more to be comfy. When's "take me out" going to show up on DLC, anyone know? That's the only song I really want from GH1.

For the Guitar Hero veterans on this board: I'm on the last tier of medium (5 stars...zilch, just 3's and 4's) and I have a question regarding my pinky. I use it for the blue button, but I'm wondering if I'd be better off not using it for now and learning to slide up and down since I'll have to on hard anyway.
