Thanks. There's some decent stuff there but it looks like Rock Band has a better set overall to me.
Now I need some guitar shots. :) |
Is GH3's 70 songs probably including bonus songs like in GH2? Which of course were mostly from up and coming or unheard of bands...not necessarily a bad thing, just not the "popular" songs most people buy the game to play.
|
Id love to have some music by The Killers, Thrice (please put Thrice on there), and Sparta. Oh yea and Incubus too. There are alot of good classic songs which I will no doubt enjoy, but as a younger guy (22) I want some more recent bands mixed in there as well.
|
Oh man, if they did put Thrice it had better be a bonus track. (No offense to people who like them, I have a few friends that do) But ever since I saw them live at Taste of Chaos, I've found them flatout unbearable, it'd be the track I dreaded.

Need to update the thread title. Rockband now coming to PS2 also.
http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3162171 Smart decision. |
Highway Star is going to be fucking amazing.
In fact, they should just get the rights to Machine Head. |
The addition of NIN just blew my fucking mind!

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3162171 Smart decision. even if it somehow miraculously comes to the PS2 in the US at the same time as the PS3 and 360, i'll still be purchasing the game with a new system along with it. i'd already decided that this game would make me buy either a 360 or PS3, and i'm sticking to it. besides, the PS2 wouldn't be able to take advantage of the DLC, right? |
So how does one decide between 360 and PS3? PS3 wireless out of the box, 360 will have a greater penetration for online play.
Decisions... |
360. No question. Unless the 360 guitar isn't wireless. Online play, achievements, and marketplace content.

And I'll be getting the 360 version because it's what my nearby friends have, and more people here seem to have 360s. |

It could have trophies associated with Home included.

Sounds like the guitar will indeed NOT be wireless for 360 and that it's not nearly as high quality as I was hoping it might be. If it's only going to be slightly (if any) better than the GH2 wired, I'm not buying it. There are the 5 lower frets, but honestly, they can't add that much, can they? Their package deal really isn't going to sell too good if you can get the GH3 bundle w/wireless for $100...buying Rock Band and wireless separately will set you back $140. :thmbsdwn: |
Ahh, the mythical trophies. They've been toting that for what, since before launch(some kind of achievement at any rate)? That's a 'I'll believe it when I see it' situation.

We'll see.

No wireless bundle for 360? What are they thinking!?!?!?! It was a must own for my on release day, but now I guess I'll probably get around to picking up just the game. With GHIII coming out in such close proximity with a wireless guitar (unless there is something else I don't know) I can't see how the rock band w/guitar is going to move many copies... sheesh this is lame.
|
Wow, I'm surprised the wired-360-package is news in this thread. I haven't paid any attention here, but I read that weeks ago on the gaming blogs. I thought it was common knowledge which I why I posed the original question:
So how does one decide between 360 and PS3? PS3 wireless out of the box, 360 will have a greater penetration for online play. Looks like the wireless functionality of the PS3 far outweighs the other pros of the 360 (achievements, greater online presence). |
FWIW, I haven't seen any mention of a guitar/game bundle for Rock Band. There's each individual peripheral (wireless guitar - $80, mic - $30, drums - $80) and the Special Edition or whatever it's called package of wired guitar, mic, drums, game for $200.
I'm torn, because I planned on renting GH3 and owning Rock Band (all the DLC intrigues me), but I think I'd like a wireless guitar. So maybe I'll get the GH3 bundle, play and sell the game, and just buy Rock Band and the drums separately. |

After reading that IGN preview I think I am going to wait until I hear what the release version of the guitar is like before buying it. I'll probably just pick up the drums at first. I'd really like my next fake guitar to be my last fake guitar, for this generation at least.
It's pretty awesome that they are including a Faith No More song, but I would've rather had another song instead of "Epic"....like "Cuckoo for Caca", that would've been a really fun song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyNFLRX12Fg |
Am I the only one who wants a wired guitar? No extra batteries to worry about, no issues with reaction time if the batteries wear down, etc. Everything else I have is wireless, so I don't have to worry about excessive wire clutter.
And flashburn mentioned in the other thread that earlier NIN would have been better, and I agree. Actually, not specifically earlier, just not stuff from With Teeth. I would take pretty much any song from Year Zero, Broken, or Downward Spiral. |

Well, I've already got two GHII guitars, but I figured I'd get a RB guitar as well because the game is optimized for it (with the new frets and all), and once you buy a single instrument, you end up getting more for your money by buying the bundle. Similarly, I'd like to be able to play the drums and do the singing, so I'd be paying for more instruments anyway.
