Wow...they're going to lose some sales on that one. That's just stupid.

glasschicken 10-20-07 01:29 PM

I agree. Not having online world tour mode is a huge let down.

flashburn 10-20-07 07:13 PM

It really sounds like they are half-assing this game just to get it out before Christmas.

argh923 10-20-07 07:56 PM

Yeah...I mean, they've limited the game's main feature to local multiplayer only. If they're not going to have single player, they need to have online play, and vice versa. This is unbelievable.

Shagrath 10-22-07 01:33 PM

From CAG:

EB/GS is offering an additional 30% trade-in value when you trade towards a Rock Band pre-order. The Edge card stacks with this, making it a total of +40% additional.

I'm going to go trade in some stuff later today and finish paying this thing off.

Well, duh. How would the console know if a guitar or drum player has a mike in front of his mouth?

This sounds like they're spying on me. I know they're not, though, because I can confirm that I can't play an instrument, let alone sing at the same time.

Looks like those who already own Guitar Hero guitars can buy the game only if you prefer.

Good - that's what they should have said from the beginning.

That said...

"Furthermore, we know that many, many friends are planning to purchase a Rock Band bundle together, along with extra copies of the software, and then share the individual instruments among them."
...is total bullshit. No one is planning on doing that.

Decker 10-22-07 04:36 PM

Why the hell can't I get a drum set at launch? That's all I need...

aktick 10-22-07 04:37 PM

I'm guessing it won't be hard to find one on ebay...not that you should have to resort to that for a NEW game.

Harmonix has also confirmed that you use two-ply toilet paper and that the mole on your back is benign.

Release date has been moved up to Tuesday 11/20.

We'll have it for Thanksgiving now, should be fun.

Source? Gamestop still shows it as 11/23.

Ummm, it was a Gamespy article...lemme look...here - http://xbox360.gamespy.com/xbox-360/.../828392p2.html

"Also, it was announced this week that Rock Band's release date had been moved up; originally set for Black Friday, November 23 (the day after Thanksgiving), Rock Band is now set to be in stores a few days early on Tuesday, November 20th."

And Best Buy has updated their site to the 20th.

Shagrath 10-23-07 11:04 AM

..As has Circuit City. I also checked with GameStop last night when I pre-ordered it and they also said it has moved to Tuesday, 11/20, although it hasn't updated on their website yet.

RichC2 10-23-07 11:09 AM

Awesome! I'll definitely be buying it now. I was pissed it wasn't going to be available for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Bus 10-23-07 11:39 AM

Wait, so you can't "form" a band online?

It needs to be local multiplayer only?

DVDChris 10-23-07 12:03 PM

Yes you can form a band online, but this online band won't be able to complete the World Tour mode.

Michael Corvin 10-23-07 01:00 PM

Not to ruin my chances of getting it on release week, but FYI, Gamefly has this in their database to rent. I added it to my queue the other day. Just a heads up for those just looking for another guitar game and want to use the GH guitars or are on the fence about the $160 pricetag.

Nice! Now I'll have it when the fam comes over for Thanksgiving. :)

Yep, that's why I was most pleased with the earlier release. The only 2 people I'll have to play world tour with (brother and brother in law), who both live 2 hours away, will be around to pound through as much as possible.

aktick 10-26-07 02:35 PM

New song - Ballroom Blitz.

I haven't watched many videos of actual gameplay, so maybe it's been shown before, but I really liked the drum part early on that let the drummer do "freestyle" or whatever you want to call it.

The rest of the songs are supposedly being released tonight by IGN. I'm not expecting much earth shattering news.

Harmonix did say there will be seamless set lists, sounds like you pick the songs you want to play, then it'll just show your band hanging out for a few seconds before the next song starts up. I always wanted that in GH, much more realistic band experience.

Supermallet 10-26-07 04:49 PM

Ha, nice! Ballroom Blitz.

bunkaroo 10-26-07 04:54 PM

I'm a bassist/guitarist in real life, but I'm almost tempted to get this for the drumming part. That could be a lot of fun.

I tried Guitar Hero once, on a song I can play for real no less (Symphony Of Destruction), and I failed miserably. I actually the game is harder for people who know how to play - it kind goes against a lot of your physical instincts.

Now they just need to get a Dream Theater song. :)
