I'd be semi interested in this if I didn't already have GHI and II with two controllers.

I just have no interest in paying for another guitar controller, or having another one clutter up the living room.

Decker 06-19-07 04:38 PM

Oh, so nice.

Any pictures of the drum peripheral?

Yeah, before I know it I am going to have a closet full of fake instruments.

flashburn 06-19-07 05:06 PM

Haven't seen them posted yet, but here are some actual scans of the magazine article...

Holy shit, that's nice. It looks really expensive, though. Even so, I might be tempted to pick it up...

I have GH1 for the PS2, but my PS2 doesn't run too well anymore... So I thought about getting GH3 for the Wii. Now I'm thinking, screw it and instead get RB for the Wii. I have a feeling Rockband will be much better than GH3.

Josh H 06-19-07 05:41 PM

Yeah, I've been considering selling the PS2 and GHI and II and putting the money toward my eventually purchase of a 360 (and then just pick up GHII and GHIII on that). That plus the fact that GHI is unplayable on my HD set as it has no lag adjustment, and GHII doesn't play spot on even with the lag calibration.

Wii is out of the question as I want the 720p output to minimize lag on my HD set, 480p still lags a decent amount due to the TV having to upscale it to 720p.

That said, I don't know if I'll bother as I don't play GH that much anymore and don't mind just playing the PS2 on my old SD set (left it hooked up to it for GH and the fact that even the PS2 games with a wide screen mode still leave black bars on the side and generally look pretty crappy).

First Rock Band gameplay video up over at gamespot. Totally unf-tastic!!!! :hump:

flashburn 07-03-07 06:04 PM

Holy shit, that ending jam-session part rules!

DVDChris 07-03-07 06:24 PM

That was awesome!!

Draven 07-03-07 06:41 PM

FUCK ME.

I am so getting that game.

EDIT: Might be off the Gamespot site.

Dear Lord, I think I wet myself. That was beyond awesome! Thanks for the link.

I'm asking Santa for the drum kit version.

Shagrath 07-04-07 05:50 AM

One of the Harmonix guys posted on the Rock Band forums that this video was not meant to be taped, and that it's from an earlier build of the game. That means that whatever they've done since the video was taped is better than that!

SuperBatMan 07-04-07 09:18 AM

Can't wait for the drum set! It's going to be sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

flashburn 07-04-07 11:41 AM

Three more confirmed songs:

David Bowie - Suffragette City
Mountain - Mississippi Queen
The Hives - Main Offender

100+ downloadable songs in the first year.

Bye bye money.

aktick 07-04-07 12:04 PM

IGN hand on... http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/801/801498p1.html

Of the eight announced songs so far, six of them are the original masters ("Won't Get Fooled Again" from The Who, "Suffragette City" from David Bowie, "Don't Fear the Reaper" from Blue Oyster Cult, "In Bloom" from Nirvana, "Main Offender" from The Hives, and "Say it Ain't So" from Weezer), with only two covers ("Mississippi Queen" from Mountain and "Paranoid" from Black Sabbath). Obviously, that's a pretty good ratio and Harmonix says that it will continue to go after originals songs wherever possible.
So those 8, plus "Welcome to the Jungle" from that YouTube video...I'm really liking the track listing so far. And that YouTube video of GNR had to be a master track, right?

I also like that the guitar will be bigger.

DVDChris 07-04-07 12:08 PM

It's not yet confirmed that Welcome to the Jungle is actually in the game. That video could've been just a test run of the game. They'd still have to work out the licensing.

flashburn 07-04-07 12:20 PM

Wonder why "Rockaway Beach" isn't one of the ones listed yet? It is clearly the song they are playing in the IGN pictures. I hope it is a master track.

I guess so...but honestly, would they take all the time to record and program a song that they didn't figure on using?

Plus they've had a GNR song before, so you'd like to think they could get another.

But who knows.

Anubis2005X 07-04-07 12:35 PM

 I'm not even going to bother with Guitar Hero III...this looks absolutely phenomenal!!!

cartman 07-04-07 12:44 PM

I'm suspecting many a player will bring their own Cow Bell accessory into the mix when playing "Don't Fear the Reaper". If "Even Flow" wasn't in GHIII, I might skip that altogether at this point!

aktick 07-04-07 01:09 PM

Think this new guitar will be compatible with GHIII?

CKMorpheus 07-04-07 01:28 PM

My god I want to own all the instruments, but I may never get laid again if I do.

SuperBatMan 07-04-07 01:45 PM

Harmonix has also said they still have the rights to the songs from the first two GH, so they might be DLC.

HOLY SHIT, if that happens. This game is going to own everything. I can't wait!!!

Jeremy517 07-04-07 01:51 PM

MSRP $200 or so?
