What was GHII for the 360? $90? So it'd be at least that for the game and a guitar (if not $10 more, if the guitar is indeed bigger/nicer). That drum setup will probably be at least $80 or so?

from IGN:
According to GameStop, the Drum Set and Wireless Guitar will retail for $79.99 each on both PS3 and Xbox 360. A wired version of the guitar will retail for $59.99. The Rock Band Microphone retails for $39.99 if these figures are correct. No descriptions for these items are provided; however, normally peripherals packaged with a game will note so in the title. Rock Band the game is listed at the standard next-gen price tag of $59.99.

Hmmm, so $210 for everything but a mic? I guess the idea might be people will be doing a lot of co-op, so each person wouldn't need every instrument? It'll be interesting how well it all sells. I definitely wouldn't buy everything at once...right now, I'd probably get the game and a guitar, assuming I can use the guitar on GH3 as well.

Yeah, and GameStop has the bundle up already with guitar, drums, and mic (I'm guessing plus the game) for about $200.

I'll play the hell out of GH80's when it comes out, then it's over to the 360 for me. This game looks and sounds completely sick.

Sounds like the mic will double as a cowbell!

Do want.

Sometimes, when I hear a really great song, I nod my head like Yes! Yes! Yes! This rocks! Or sometimes I'll shake my head like No! No! No! Don't stop a-rockin'

There's a video of the game from E3 up.

Now for a couple of announcements:

1. Enter Sandman is a song in the game. Yay.

2. This is COOL beyond belief.

Harmonix, the leading developer of music-based games, and MTV Games, a division of MTV Networks which is a division of Viacom (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B), announced today that one of the most influential records in rock history, The Who’s iconic Who’s Next, will become the first full length album available as a digitally-distributed game level for the upcoming videogame Rock Band™ - a first ever offering for a videogame. In addition to announcing full-length album availability, MTV Games and Harmonix also announced the first 16 Rock Band songs, spanning every genre of rock from alternative to classic to heavy metal. As previously announced Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) will serve as the exclusive distribution and marketing partner for Rock Band, managing distribution for the game in US, Europe and Australia.

“Offering entire albums for play on the Rock Band platform is a monumental step forward in Harmonix’s ever present quest to provide new ways for people to interact with music and creating the most authentic music experience possible,” stated Alex Rigopulos, co-founder and CEO, Harmonix. “This will give players the opportunity to play through the entire album set list of arguably some of the most influential rock albums of all time and brings them one step closer to what it feels like to be a true rock star.”

Who’s Next will be the first album available for Rock Band owners to purchase soon after the game’s release with new content planned every week following Rock Band’s launch this Holiday. Universal Music Group along with other top record labels and music publishers announced earlier this year an unprecedented partnership with Harmonix and MTV to provide music for Rock Band, with this artist being the first of many being announced in the months ahead.

“Rock Band empowers users to interact with the music they love in a completely new way. This type of consumer engagement is vital in today’s marketplace. We fully support licensing opportunities that allow consumers to have their music their way and it’s a home run because of its cultural relevance,” said Mike Davis, EVP/GM, Universal Music Enterprises.

"The Who's Who's Next is crystallized as one of the great moments in music history," stated Jeff Yapp, EVP, MTV Program Enterprises. "This is the first of many legendary albums available for download in Rock Band as a digitally-distributed game level. This enables us to connect music fans and gamers with the artists and songs they want to play so they can experience these historic moments through Rock Band.”

The Who’s Who’s Next (1971 Release)

1. “Baba O’Riley”
2. “Bargain”
3. “Love Ain’t for Keepin’”
4. “My Wife (Entwistle)”
5. “The Song Is Over”
6. “Getting in Tune”
7. “Going Movile”
8. “Behind Blue Eyes”
9. “Won’t Get Fooled Again”

Influential British rock band The Who, featuring legendary guitarist Pete Townshend, has agreed to make its 1971 album Who’s Next the first downloadable album available for Rock Band gamers. Considered by many to be The Who's greatest album, Who's Next has also been named one of the best albums of all time by VH1 (#13) and Rolling Stone (#28).

I personally have no interest in entire albums. Just concentrate on building a solid library of songs.

Where'd you hear about Enter Sandman being in?

EDIT: http://www.gamespot.com/news/6174210.html "They will also be releasing a "substantial amount of tracks" from Metallica, including "Enter Sandman" which will be on the game disc."

Hinkle?

SuperBatMan 07-11-07 05:50 PM

BON JOVI?!?! METALLICA?!

Sold, sold, FUCKING SOLD! Day one purchase with drums, confirmed!

flashburn 07-11-07 05:53 PM

Good to hear we are going to be getting some Metallica. Hopefully they exclude anything after the black album. I'd love it if Kill 'Em All was released in its entirety.

aktick 07-11-07 06:05 PM

The entire albums deal will be appealing only if they are high quality albums - "Who's Next" qualifies, IMO. I'm guessing the only way to get the songs on the full album releases will be to buy the entire album? That or it'll cost a lot more per song if bought individually, I'd guess.

Hopefully they don't bundle 3 songs together like for GH2 downloadable content, so we can pick only the songs we WANT.

Little Steven will be chairing an advisory board that figures out which songs to add.

Plus...the drums... :)

The drum peripheral looks slick, but I'm not a fan of the positioning, and it looks like the black plastic makes the drums immovable. Looks like I'll be modding that immediately...

The Bus 07-11-07 06:27 PM

Fuck yes. You will fear the reaper.

Shagrath 07-11-07 07:42 PM

FUCK YES!!! BON JOVI!
I wanted this for 80s, but this is soooooooooooo much better!

I almost did the GS preorder until they charged me a $22 handling charge, plus tax. The extra $35 convinced me to wait for a better deal.

Draven 07-12-07 09:43 AM

Good god that track list looks awesome. I am getting the entire set, no questions asked.
