Got the three red lights of doom while attempting to play the Monster Madness demo. I originally bought my xbox on 12/31/2005 and never had a problem with it before today. Luckily, I took advantage of the extended warranty. Hopefully, the repair process won't take too long.

OK - so I'm ready to make the jump to the 360. WHat's the best deal to get one?
Walmart has a bundle of the premium unit + Call of Duty 2 for $400. hat's the best I can find, but all of the local stores are out of it. No one else seems to be doing a good bundle deal.
I could trade in my old Xbox if there was a deal for that, but cabn't find any.
Can anyone provide any B&M stores that have deals today, maybe?

I'm kinda ticked at BB - I called last night to see if they'd price match Walmart's bundle and they said yes. Of course when I got there, the mgr said no because they don't offer that bundle. She let a $600 sale walk out of the store because she didn't want to give away "a free game". Idiot. I was going to buy 3 additional controllers and maybe even another game and a live subscription. I hope that free game was worth it to her.
I'll check ot Target - thanks.

COD2 was on sale for $13.XX at CC recently (and is $29.99 otherwise), so IMO, that's the worst bundle value I've seen.
No 360 in today's CC and Target ads.
360 w/Pinata at BB.

AAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH
Anyone playing Luxor 2, beware, there has to be a glitch. I was on 10-4 with 22 lives. I died and it acted like it was my last life. It ended the game and only allowed me to continue at 10-1 starting with 0 points and 4 lives. Unbelievably frustrating. I had around 8 million.
Not even sure I want to pick it back up.

I can't call TRU for another 45 minutes to see what their deals are this week (the guy last night said this week or next they might have some deals, but I'm guessing probably nothing.

Soooo why aren't you waiting for the Elite? If you don't have a 360 I would think that would be the best thing to do.

That demo was HORRIBLE! Yeah the opening was fine, until the game actually started. In fact I was thrilled to hear John Cleese do the voice-over; I just love that guy. But man, the game is awful. Terrible controls, DS-level graphics, excruciatingly lame "finishing moves". My wife asked "Who knew Shrek was so violent?" and she had a point : the game really doesn't fit the character at all. Even my 5 yr old daughter thought the demo was absurdly short.

I get that. But if one was buying a 360 for the 1st time it still makes sense.

Not if you don't have HDMI on your TV and could care less about downloading movies. $80 down the tubes if you ask me. Not to mention the black is fugly.

Whatever. I just wanted to show him the option. A couple guys on dvdtalk think it's a waste so i guess the makes it so...
Also, Black = not ugly. When the 360 1 came out all I heard was, "Why not Black?".

It doesn't make sense to me.
If you have no need for HDMI or a big hard drive, why not just get the premium and spend the extra $80 on a game or two. Why spend an extra $80 on things you don't need?
If you have that much disposable income to throw away, send some my way.

Even if you don't need HDMI, it will be money well spent for the bigger hard drive. You won't be able to upgrade to the larger one later for that price. Might as well suck it up now and save yourself the upgrade pains later. Don't forget that the TV/DVR functionality should be out around Christmas time and you'll need the larger HD for that for sure. And, black is the new white is the new black.

Considering the current media limitations on the 360, I don't have a need for the 120GB drive, but if MS allows me to copy my MP3 collection and movies that I've re-encoded to the drive, suddenly that 120GB is barely large enough.

I just bought a 360 Premium with the 20 gig drive. I get Giantrobo's point but for me, hard drive space was not/is not an issue and I don't have a TV with HDMI input.
My computer has 5 times the space that even the Elite will offer. With media center enabled, I can stream recorded shows directly off the computer. Same with music, videos and photos. The only thing the hard drive on the 360 is going to be used for is game/profile saves and the occasional download that probably won't stay on it for long.
If I didn't have this connectivity to my computer, I would have certainly waited for the Elite with the larger hard drive. The color of the machine makes no difference to me.
