I'm playing this on my PC and it's damn good, but now I want to download the demo to compare how it plays on the 360.

Anyone know if Costco is gonna have the Elite? I got my 360 there earlier this year, and am ready to bring it back for the new one.

Honestly, did anyone expect anything else? The only advantage to HDMI is that it passes sound and picture at the same time, and it's digital, which is only an advantage if you're using really shitty component cables or you're using really long cables. The 360 cables are neither. Frankly, if you've got a 1080p HDTV, chances are it's already deinterlacing the 1080i signal you're getting from the component cables. And we knew they wouldn't use the new chips, so the heat and noise was also to be expected.

I have to say, though, we did get the black accessories in at my store and they look amazing. I'm seriously considering picking up the pack with a controller, rechargeable battery, and charge and play kit. They're very spiffy looking.

It never worked for me. It's not just a couple of us, a lot of people had problems with online Burnout games.

Yep 90% of the time when I would go into a room that was nearly full I would sit there for a minute and everyone would be like "ready up dude" and I'd say I can't because I'm not connected yet (or whatever that waiting message was) and then I'd be booted. It's even worse when you try to get a full room of friends together.

I would've picked up an Elite just to get away from the shop-vac noise my 360 makes. Looks like no change though . Guess I'll have to live with it.

Seriously, please don't do this, it's the reason why they just shortened the tv return policy, and shortened the computer return policy many years ago.

It's a perfectly legit policy and he has every right to use it.

It's a legit policy for them to do a return/exchange on a defective or broken product. It is not meant to be misused to "trade up" on things like TVs and laptops.

As you can see, the mods (or the OP of this debate) removed the posts, as it definately falls into the unethical behavior category.

I just received a shipping confirmation on my Elite from Amazon. woohoo!!

No fair! I did next day shipping and mine still isn't even in process. What time did you order it? I ordered mine at 4:15.

I ordered mine at 3:00pm. I have Prime so I chose the one day shipping for $3.99.

Yeah I am Prime too and also did one day shipping. So when does it show that you will receive it?

If UPS picks it up today from Amazon you will probably have it on Monday instead of Tuesday.

If he walks into Costco and says, "I want to return my XBox360 so that I can get the XBox 360 Elite" or "I don't want it anymore" and they do it, then yes it is legit. But if he makes a false claim in order for them to accept the return that can hardly be considered "legit".

Hardly a false claim based on many people's experience here. The 360 could die at any moment. Dr. West has gone through at least three systems already since launch. I'm on my second unit. I'd do the trade if I had a Costco around.

If what YOU are saying is that "it could die at any moment" is a valid claim, then again, if that is what you tell them and they accept it, then it is okay.

Why it matters to me (and others):
Costco has (had) one of the best return policies. Unfortunately it relied on their customers being honest and having integrity. I know some will justify their actions by citing the "letter of the law" of their policy, but they know what the "intent" is. Their return policy has been abused and as a result they have had to pull back on some areas.

On to 360 specific things.

I've been against the whole "online marketplace" idea from day 1. I thought it was a poor value to purchase XBLA titles, purchase non-transferrable downloadable game add-ons, and other "electronic-only" purchases.

Now we are seeing this downside to this with the release of the Elite. It has shown that Microsoft has no plan and is not prepared for customers to transfer their purchases from one console to another.

As time goes on, it will get more difficult to swap drives or swap consoles.
