Yea, the beginning of the Godfather is the same as the beginning of the xbox game. Its been like 2 years +, so the memory is pretty vauge and still feels new to me.

It surprised me how well she picked up the controls tbh. Normally, she sucks at driving in games like GTA, saints row, or even Crackdown. She literally flew to the hosipital to drop off the Don and had tons of time to spare

extorting business owners is still my favorite part of the game :D

Wow. I think it is time someone revived the Summer/Winter Games type game. I can't imagine anyone more fitting to do it. And there has never been a system more fitting than the Wii. Definitely a cool pairing. Sega is making it which is worrisome with their recent Sonic track(ha ha) record, but Miyamoto is overseeing. Definitely sounds promising.

Hopefully it isn't some big April Fools joke.

KurrptSenate 03-28-07 09:27 AM

what is it?

like some kind of decathalon with nintendo/sega characters in it?

Michael Corvin 03-28-07 09:45 AM

I would imagine like the old Summer Games / Track & Field titles.

KurrptSenate 03-28-07 09:48 AM

if it involves cheating, and a huge game pad, I'm all about it

When the controllers with the "turbo" buttons came out for the NES, Track & Field became a lot less fun. Track & Field was THE major cause of Nintendo-thumb prior to that. :)

So.. With SSX Blur, Tiger Woods, and now Godfather. It looks like EA is "THE" 3rd party developer for the Wii, like they promised. So far they've had a pretty good line-up on the Wii. And it seems like they have a pretty good handle on how to make games worth well with the motion controls.

They have definitely made the most out of the limited budgets they have used on their games. Lots of ports, but at least their ports have been solid. Madden and Tiger are pretty good and Blur and Godfather seem great.
Medal of Honor is one I don't think they handled as well. The controls don't seem all that great and its $10 more than the PS2 version.

The game that has me shaking my head is Meet the Robinsons. Disney is basically charging $20 more for a game identical to the Cube version, but with mediocre Wii control. Talk about rape. Hopefully, people buying this for their kids will be smart enough to buy the GameCube version.

Go EA!

Of course this assumes that Wii owners already have 'Cube controllers -- which will cost about $20. Of course it's only a 1 time investment.

GameStop accuses Nintendo of holding back Wii stock

Matt Martin 09:32 (BST) 28/03/2007

Lack of Wii in stores "intentional" says DeMatteo

GameStop COO Dan DeMatteo has accused Nintendo of holding back Wii units from retail outlets in the US.

In a conference call following the release of fourth quarter sales, DeMatteo stated that he believes that because Nintendo had reached its targets for the 2006 fiscal year, it held back stock to boost performance in Q1 of 2007.

"This is just my opinion – I think they intentionally dried up supply because they made their numbers for the year. Their new year starts April 1 and I think we're going to see supply flowing," he said.

He revealed that the retailer is now receiving stock allocation for April, and does not expect such crippling shortages of the console in the future.

"Next week we get our first allocations of Wii and DS and we are quite pleased with those numbers. We are concerned about the dryness here in March, but it looks like April is going to be good," commented DeMatteo.

Speaking about the European launch of the PlayStation 3, GameStop COO R. Richard Fontaine described the event as, "a very good launch falling just short of a great one."

The company also revealed it intends to open a further 500 – 550 stores worldwide during 2007.

I'd say that's debatable. Godfather seems to get praised, but Blurs controls were bashed a lot in reviews and posts, Tiger Woods gets complaints about putting and inconsistent drive power and Madden's controls on defense get panned a lot.

Mushroom Kingdom Hearts

Has anyone heard of this!? Please god dont be a set up for a April Fools Joke... how great would this be!

It's a joke. The recent EGM podcast said it was their April Fools joke for this year.

I've only played SSX and I can say that the criticisms seemed wrong to me as well as others on this forum.

Most of the reviews I read of Tiger Woods seemed to like to controls.

Josh H 03-28-07 12:17 PM

I gave SSX a rental. The controls are ok, the problem is the Uber tricks are too tough to pull off compared to prior versions. And even when they do work doing stuff like drawing big hearth in the air to do a trick is just freaking retarded.

For me motion controls on work if they correspond to what your doing on the screen (i.e. slash the remote to slash with a sword, etc.). Otherwise its just lame, as it's just being forced into the game rather than being used for intuitive reasons to enhance the game.

KurrptSenate 03-28-07 12:20 PM

you'd probably like Godfather then ;)

That would be tough! ;)

While I prefer it for some things, I think it made sense in SSX. There has to be some way of pulling off a combo, and they chose drawing pictures... I don't see it as much different than hitting up, down, A, B, A really quick.

It's not much different. I just prefer the old way. There's nothing wrong with traditional controls at all IMO.

For me to get into motion controls on the Wii it needs to add something over pushing buttons. Drawing pictures (hearts, hearths whatever :p ;) ) just doesn't work for me. It's too much of a disconnect from the game and just seems silly and lame to me. I'm used to pushing buttons so doing so doesn't pull me out of games etc.

It was the same on the DS as there wasn't much I liked the first year as it was just tech demoish games that were forcing stylus control rather than only using the stylus when it actually made sense and added to the gameplay.

I'd probably like the controls, but I HATE the GTA series so I doubt it would be my cup of tea.

KurrptSenate 03-28-07 12:50 PM

eh, if you like shooting people and beating up stuff, you might.

I find the Godfather series quite different than GTA, but you could easily argue its in the same genre, has a ton of similarities, and not appeal to you

I understand what you are saying, but there are too many games to play to memorize complex button combinations for them all. I'm all for some titles simplifying things a little. Which is mostly why I focus on 1-2 games until I beat them to move on.

I started PoP: Warrior Within about a month or so back and dread going back because I don't remember the controls.

Groucho 03-28-07 12:55 PM

Regardless of why stock is low (back in the PS2 days there were rumors that Sony was holding back as well), it'll be great when you can actually go into a store and see these on the shelves. I'd probably have one by now if they were more readily available.

I'm not sure drawing pictures, which are hard to learn and seem to result in the move in consistently, is really a simplification though.

Personally, I've started only playing 1-2 games at a time as I've found I enjoy them more and finish more games that way. I was getting disenchanted with gaming when I had a huge back log and never seemed to finish anything last gen.

I got rid of most of my games to pay for my Wii and I'm being more fastidious with not building up a backlog of games from now. Trying to just buy games I"m pretty sure I'll love, and only buying a new game when I need something to play soon as I'm about to finish whatever I'm currently playing.

If we were talking about Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow I would let you have this argument(as I find myself pausing during a boss battle to remember/test the magic seal drawing), but you, yourself, are specifically talking about drawing hearts. How hard is it to remember how to draw a heart? I've been doing that since I was three, long before I was memorizing button combos. :)
