New Stats:

Agility:
Strength:
Weapons:
Explosives:
Driving:

Finding those Hidden orbs really do help boost up the stats. I've barely even driven yet and I'm up to two stars. Strength and agility are very easy to level. Just beat down every enemy you see and grab those agility orbs. The rooftop races don't boost your agility very much and you need 4 stars for most of them anyway.

Weapons are easy, just shoot. Explosives really start moving once you get to the Volk. The grenade launcher and the rocket launcher are great tools for explosives boosting. Also, if you venture over into the Shen area early, look for the homing rocket launcher. It rocks!

The title of this game is very appropriate since it's about as addictive as crack.

I dig the exploring aspect and the constant action is a lot of fun, but more than anything I love the constant powering up - not for the collection aspect of it (I hate collection-type things in games), but because you get enhanced abilities that make the game even more fun - the more powerfil you get, the more it's like being a super bad-ass in The Matrix - much better than an actual Matrix game.

On this note i kind of dig some of the small details like the sidewalk cracking when you land from a decent distance. Makes me feel all cool.

edit: fixed typo

the game was definitely fun, but very short. Took me a few hours last week to get lvl4 on all stats, and then I played a bit of the co-op to max everything. The only drawback is that there is virtually no replay value....no side missions except stupid races

Loving this game so far. Took out Los Muertes this morning and started on the Volk. I'm eager to try out co-op, so if you see me playing this game, feel free to drop in.

I also want to point out that this is, by far, the most glich-free "sandbox" game I've ever played. I'm kinda surprised at how solid the code for this game is, and how I haven't even come across a little glich, much less a big one - wich is rare for this sort of game.

I agree about that. In the demo I got stuck in a wall and I was a bit afraid that the full version might have a few bugs left in it. I've played the game for over 15 hours so far and haven't had any problems.

A tip for those looking to up their driving skill plus getting an achievement.

Start a co-op game and hop into a car. Have your co-op partner (preferably 4 star strength) throw the car through all the purple rings.

Will that give each partner driving points, or just the one in the car?

Just the one in the car, I believe. You can always switch off before going to the next one.

In the los Muertos area there was an instance where a truck somehow got "stuck" in one of the beams under an overpass. Because of that it was really causing the game to slowdown until I had to blow it up.

Also, I got caught under a ledge while swimming. Since you can't dive you're forced to somehow shake yourself free. Aside from those two I haven't seen or experienced any other problems.

Not sure if it's been covered already, but anyone else notice there's only 900points to unlock for achievements? I don't really mind but i thought that there was a new policy where every disc is supposed to have 1000pts, unless there are plans for more dl content in the future?

Every disc has to have 1000 free points so since Crackdown has 900 out of the box the other 100 points will come from a free download. Then it could have pay downloads that offer up to 250 more points worth of achievements.

I just wanted to get started when I got home from work. I had no intention of playing the game for more than 5 minutes or so. 30 minutes later I forced myself to turn it off until later tonight.

I've never liked GTA, but this game makes me think I never gave GTA enough of a chance.

From reviews and videos etc. it really looks like this game isn't much like GTA. It's more like that last Hulk game that was in an open world and you just go around tearing shit up and doing crazy stuff.

GTA is more methodical, you don't have as much freedom as you always have the cops on your ass when you do something, can't get away as easily since you don't have super powers etc.

Point being liking this likely won't make you like GTA if you give it another crack as their fairly different games, just having the open world and carjacking in common more or less.

That makes sense. I bought GTA for the PS2 but I never could get into it. I thought it was because I *need* some direction with my games. I felt a bit overwhelmed by the "do whatever you want" aspect of it. But now that I think about it, I think it did get frustrating with the cops constantly harassing me.

Anyway, I guess I'm guilty of lumping Crackdown in with other sandbox games.

Made it to the top of the Agency building last night for the achievement. Now I can see how people have problems with the heights. I didn't have any issues, but I can see how some would.

It was fun trying to get up there.

Did you also get that achievements mate?

Spoiler:
You had to jump from the top of the Agency building and land in the water below.

Yah, Corvin got it. It's on his gamertag.

BTW, if anyone needs the Firefly (homing rockets), join up with me for a co-op game and I can supply you with the weaponry. My weapon package of choice seems to be the 800 round machine gun, the Firefly and attachable mines.

I would love to get that homing rocket. I have the other rocket launcher and grenade launcher.
I don't know if I have the 800 round machine gun either. Does that one have a scope to allow you to zoom in?

The 800 round machine gun is called the Harrington HMG-90. It has a slow reload, but it's damn powerful and targets quickly. I found it on the North island of the Los Muertos gang. It does not have a scope, but it doesn't really need one.

The homing rocket launcher can be found in Shai Gen territory. It's pretty much standard issue for the packs of 5 to 8 enemies found up on the rooftops.

I'll be online later today for anyone that wants them the quick way.

Yep. Funny that scaling that building took about 30 minutes work, all for 10 points. There was still a mystery orb up there I couldn't reach, so it looks as if I will have to do it again. It was on the antenna. I'm only a level 3 Agility.
