Who's getting Crackdown today?

I'm debating picking up a copy. I enjoyed the demo and I'd love to try out Halo 3 as well - do all of the "first run" copies have the beta?

I'm scared of heights, and the game scared me...

I haven't even taken the time to try the demo yet. I'm just getting it, and not for the Halo beta.

I should be picking up a copy in about an hour and a half

Im interested in the game itself. If I get something free to play online in the process I'd say its easily worth it

I just realized I was only 54% done with downloading Crackdown from several months back when I stopped it to go to bed. So I never even played the demo. I'm finishing the download now and luckily it started from 54% instead of the beginning. I've got a GC for BestBuy so who knows, I may pick it up...

BTW, this very situation is why the 360 needs a "Power off when finished with Downloads" so one can set them up, go about his business, and the 360 can knock them down and turn off immedaitely after it's done.

EDIT TO ADD: Meh, played it and I guess I'll wait for the bargain bin.

Well, I went ahead and ordered my copy - I'll pick it up at Best Buy tonight.

Looking forward to it!

Have to admit this game looks pretty fun. I'd written it off as a GTA clone, but after hearing about it on the 1up Yours Podcast and the 1UP Show it seems like it would be a lot of fun.

Definitely on my list of games to check out if I every get around to picking up a 360.

nope. only on live.

I really hate this trend of getting away from split screen gaming. Playing with your friends online is fun when there is no other option, but it isn't the same as being in the same room as your friends having a good time.

Totally. Playing through Gears of War coop in split screen with a couple buddies (pass the controller when you die) over beers was a blast. Just not the same doing it online.

Are you sure??

Didn't they mention on a recent 1up yours podcast that *every* copy of Crackdown would have the Halo 3 beta? I heard that on one of the podcasts I listen to, but I'm not sure which one. Maybe Major Nelson?

If that's true, EB/GS are spreading more "pre-order or someone will die!" crap.

Not sure if every game has it or not but it comes with a little sheet of paper that tells you how to get it. It says there is a menu option inside the Crackdown game that will only be active when the beta is released.

When it is active you will be able to download the demo. You also launch the demo from inside Crackdown.

It also said the demo would only be available for a limited time and that after that time is up the option to download it would be grayed out again.

Well, it was told to us who work at Gamestop that it would only be on the first run. Could be that Microsoft intended to do this and changed their minds, or could be corporate is lying to us or has bad info.

I believe some stores broke release date....

OR, it's been in "other" places for people with evil XBOX 360....not even sure how to do that though with the 360.

The beta will not start when Crackdown is released. The beta will go live when it’s ready, which should be sometime this Spring. The team is currently busy whipping the included content into shape. Our goal is to deliver a fun, solid game experience though it will still very much be a “beta.”

How long will the beta last?

The beta will only be playable for a limited time. Exact timing is still TBD.

Yeah...

I thought it would be playable up til (or close to) the release date of the final game.

Not according to this IGN Article

Here is the perfect example of the state of offline gaming. My friend and I were walking down the street Sunday and I was telling him how much fun Crackdown was. Then, absent-mindedly I said, "Come over later tonight and we can play co-op!" "Can I do that?" he said? I looked at him in astonishment, and realized no. We couldn't just hang out at my house and play. He would have to buy a copy, own a X360, and go back to his house to play.
*edit - looking at your jpg closer I noticed it is system link. So I bet we are both right. You can do local co-op, but you have to have two systems, two tvs, and two copies of the game. No split screen action.

Well that blows.. Good find.

EDIT: But wait.. Then why does it say this: "Cooperative Offline Support
This number represents the maximum number of players possible when playing a game cooperatively offline on a single Xbox.

Cooperative support gives two or more players the chance to play against a games computer AI offline on a single Xbox."
