Raw on 360 probably won't be out of the rotation any time soon regardless of if I find a PS3.
Over at Dailygame.net or Themanroom.com they have a good write up on the PS3 - lucky SOB was sent one by Sony. He breaks down the Blu-ray player quality.

I would keep checking the stores. I just got a call from wal-mart and they said they got in another shipment(4 i believe) that takes care of most of the rainchecks i believe, i was the first raincheck, that brings that stores total to 10 total including launch. So i would keep checking the stores, maybe you'll get lucky. But keep in mind that wal-mart employees(not sure about other stores) are able to buy them once the rainchecks are fulfilled.

Honestly, I didn't think Motor GP looked very hot either.. at least, not $600+$60 1080p hot. The cars were very, very detailed but the terrains were ass. Like I said about the NBA game, I don't really care much about the graphics but it is kind of the selling point of the system at the moment (the varied library will eventually take over in a couple of years like with the PS2) so I'm just making note of what the demo games look like.

Why haven't they put their "system seller" on display?

Resistance is M-rated. I doubt stores want to put M rated games on the demo units.

Has anyone heard the rumor that Sony was only able to ship about 150,000 of these to North America instead of the 400,000 they promised? Not sure if that means more are coming soon or if they are REALLY behind on their production.

Saw it on this site:

Tell me about it. I figured i wouldn't hear anything until a week after thanksgiving at the earliest. I am getting mine to sell and am very happy that it came a little later so that i'm not getting screwed on ebay. I'm actually going to see if i can trade it, maybe for 600 bucks and a 360 with the HD-DVD drive or something like that.

That was a good breakdown, thanks for the links. It sounds like the HDMI handshake is a real issue, hopefully since mine will be hooked up to the new 1080p Sony SXRD it will be more compatible. I thought I heard somewhere that Sony said they could only guarantee flawless HDMI compatibility between like Sony devices, hopefully I'm not just wishing...

Whoa, I hope that's wrong too, that'd be a bit too fishy. I wouldn't put it past them though..

It is nowhere near that. They're going for around $1000 on eBay right now. After fees, he's not even at 3/4 of $100,000.

Sorry, did not know they had dropped that much since in the last week, still a good profit if he was ebaying that many.

they will go up...

you have to figure, there were, at one time, above 30,000 PS3s on ebay at once. It is now under 19000, and continues to drop.

Im guessing once it goes below 10,000, you'll see the price increase again

In my opinion, there are really only 10,000 right now. About half of the auctions that end are ending without a bid because the person either has a minimum bid set way too high, or a reserve set way too high

i guess you call it "available" consoles, but I'm talking about the overabundance at this point.

At any one time, there is about 15-20 PS3s that are closing for auction.

I see that most of the auctions closing right around $900. The ones closing at $1000 now include an extra game and controller.

I think the initial buzz has worn off already. Hard to believe that people really thought there was a big enough market on Ebay to sell over 100k PS3s at $2000+ each.

Edit: I take my original comment back. Looking at completed listings, it looks like most are still selling for $1100 to $1200.

so I just scored a PS3 bundle at Walmart.com for the grand 'ole price of 2370.xx shipped. there was a major problem with the pricing that it supposed to be corrected soon. alot of people didn't buy it because of the price which I figured if they don't fix the pricing issue and they do ship I'll just return everything for a full refund.

now, does anyone want to place some bets on how fast this order will most likely be cancelled?

...and Perry, you will notice it continues to increase as the number of available systems depreciates.

I'm guessing the Ebay auctions are really a big part of Sony's grand plan / marketing scheme, which is to create value at the $600 MSRP. When I first heard the $600 price, I couldn't believe the gall that Sony has to sell a game system that expensive. Now, I'm probably going to pick one up as soon as I can find one at list price. Foiled again!

Are you going to pick it up at list price because you see the value of ebaying it, or because you feel that it's now a bargain at that price?

It's not a bad deal at $499. It's on par with the 360 at $399.

Right. I never would have considered spending $600 for a game machine before, but now I may consider it if I find one in the next couple months.
