Also, sorta weird, but I still have a preorder for GT:HD with Best Buy and Best Buy hasn't cancelled it yet. Oh well. I bought it with $60 worth of Best Buy bucks so I'm not really out any cash, but when they eventually cancel a call to corporate should get me a $60 gift card (did this already with my preorder for Gran Turismo for PSP that was cancelled by Best Buy).
Also, my PS3 bought at launch had Talledega Nights in there and it was just leaning against the console loose in the box. So for whoever was wondering, you should be able to open the box and see it right away if you have one, without taking anything out of the box.

yeah, but i've already done it a few times. sure that's in the rules, but i'm not the one cancelling or returning, that's the difference since BB will be the one cancelling on me. i'm confident it'll work and if not, oh well.
played GT:HD for awhile and unlocked all the cars, looks really nice and plays well. ranked 19th on one of the drift modes, but everything else I was pretty much ranking 250th to 1000+ Still wish they would have done a full version of this with lots of tracks. guess we have to wait till GT5.

Well, i finally took the plunge into PS3dom. I have to say i'm pretty impressed especially since i'm a staunch 360 supporter although I would never give up my 360.
My first impressions of the PS3 60gb.
Unboxing:
Damn this thing is heavy!
It's very pretty. Wear cloth gloves to not fingerprint it up...lol
Hook Up:
Was simple to my 61"1080p Samsung DLP using HDMI and optical. No issues.
Initial Network Setup:
was a little of a pain. I don't like the entry interface, I didn't like it on the PSP either. Suggestion to use a usb keyboard or wireless keyboard if you have.
Gaming:
Resistance is the only title I picked up for now. Am downloading GTHD as I type this(more on that in a minute). Resistance is a decent title, although as others have stated, not a system seller. Good graphics and decent gameplay. Feels alot like COD2 with aliens. On par with most XBOX 360 FPS in visual candy.
Backwards compatability:
This is where I think Sony really dropped the ball. PS2 games look like utter crap. Graphics look like i'm back to playing pong on a 2600(ok, i'm exaggerating) but really, they are pretty bad and unplayable for the most part. This needs to be fixed, NOW!( SONY, ARE YOU LISTENING?????).
Playstation network:
One word- SLOW! at least as far as D/L is concerned. Sony will need to beef up this aspect to keep me coming back for more. I have not played games online with the PS3 as of yet but i'm certainly not expecting XBOXLive quality.
SDDVD Capability:
Worked fine. Watched Ice Age the meltdown with the kiddies. No problems, picture was crisp and clear sounded wonderful via Optical.
BluRay:
Have not used it yet, too busy playing Resistance. I'm sure it will look as others have described. Planning on watching Ricky Bobby later.
All in all not bad. Worth 600 bucks? At this point I would have to say yes. In the future, if Sony and it's 3rd party developers use the machine to it's full capabilities I would have to say this will be a tough machine to beat. BAckwards Compatability issues need to be resolved and Online need to be enhanced quite a bit to get anywhere near touching XBOXLive.
I still love my 360 though.

Has anyone seen the Bluetooth remotes anywhere BESIDES Gamestop/EB Games yet?
I've got store credit for Walmart, so I'm hoping that they get it in soon. I hate using the freakin controller while watching movies.

PlayStation 3 Gets Downloadable Tekken 5
Previously available only in arcade and PSP formats, Namco Bandai's Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection has been released overseas as a fully digitally distributed PS3 title over Sony's PlayStation Store.
First hinted at in a Weekly Famitsu report in early December without a release date or price point, the PS3 version of Dark Resurrection has quietly been added to both the Japan and Hong Kong local PlayStation Stores.
Running at full HD (in up to 720p or 1080p) at a promised 60 frames per second, the new version of the 7th iteration in the long-running Tekken series makes boss character Jinpachi Mishima playable for the first time.
Apart from the standard arcade battle mode, the downloadable version includes ghost battle, a mode in which players fight a never-ending series of characters to rise through ranks, a standard multiplayer versus mode, and a gallery mode in which players can unlock Tekken artwork and videos with in-game 'fight money.'
The Dark Resurrection download weighs in at 830MB, and is available for 2000 yen ($16.80) on Sony's Japan store, and $125HK ($16.07) on the Hong Kong store. The U.S. will likely see its own version of the game appearing stateside in due time, but no announcements have yet been made.
Dark Resurrection also marks the first true fully digitally distributed title for Sony's service, following the recent 'concept' release of Gran Turismo HD, a free 10-car, 1-course demo showcasing Polyphony Digital Inc's technology for its upcoming works in the Gran Turismo series.

Started downloading the GT "demo" yesterday. First had to download the update, which took a while, then the download itself took forever so I turned the TV off and went to sleep. Woke up this morning and there was some kind of error last night, so I have to download it from the beginning again. Ugh. Seriously, maybe I'm spoiled by the 360's background downloading and resuming downloads, but I don't think that's too much to ask, especially because it seems so painful to download anything from the PS store.

Remember, it took several months for the 360 to have background downloading. The Sony Store will have it soon, don't worry. As for the speed, maybe it's your connection. I got the 20GB model, so I use an external wireless adapter, but I still get wired speeds. I got the GT:HD demo in about 30 minutes, and updates don't take very long at all. I've never had an hours long download like some people complain about.

one of these days I'm going to connect my PS3 directly to my router and see if a wired connection is any better. my router is in the same room as my PS3 and my signal is 100% on the PS3 and my d/l speeds are pretty slow. it took a few hours to get the GT demo(I think almost 4).

Mine was Slooow but not 4 hrs slow. I think it may have taken around 1:45 to d/l which is unacceptable. Same file size on XBL might take 5 to 10 minutes on a bad day.

I think the stuff is slow, but no where near slow as what you guys are seeing. I'm 60GB machine wireless. The GT demo took about 30 minutes to download and install to demo time.
The firmware updates usually take about 15 minutes.
Still darn slow, but I couldn't handle some of the times being reported, wow.

GT:HD downloaded pretty quickly here too, and that was on the night it was released. Started the download, played a few rounds of Street Fighter 3 over on my PS3 with some buddies, and after about 6 matches we switched back and it was done.
On the otherhand, for some reason downloading the Legend of Zelda on the Wii took like 45 minutes

mine took a little over 2 hours, didn't really care though, just switched over to tv and watched some stuff on my dvr, flipped back to the ps3 once I noticed the network light stop flashing.
