Memory card reader, duh! That and built-in WiFi, at least. Whether that's worth $100 when the HDD is disposable is in the eye of the beholder.

So Wi-Fi only essentially.

It also links to this site; which is just a cover page at the moment: Link

That's pretty interesting for the PC / techie crowd.
In one fell swoop my interest in the PS3 has been raised exponentially.

Best Buy Store Allotments: (per Sunday's advertisement)

60 gig PS3: Minimum of 20 Units per store
20 gig PS3: Minimum of 6 units per store

So boys and girls; if they are more than 26 people ahead of you in line, you may be screwed.

26 minimum per store seems like a lot to me. Too bad there's no Wii info for the Sunday release yet.

And there's word now that the March 2007 European release may be delayed again.

Does anyone recall the "minimum" number of 360s that were available at best buy last year?

Well the insanity on Ebay knows no bounds, a PS3 sold for $9,100 recently and another one sold for $5,000. I can't wait to see how many people have to give refunds on November 17th...

That is total insanity. There is no way I would buy it for that price even if I had an extra million bucks.

Did those auctions come with a 100" HDTV, a kicking sound system, and 50 games too? I really hope those auctions were not for a PS3 console alone. That is just stupid crazy. I didn't even spend $9000 on my car.

I think both of those are examples of people bidding just to drive up the hype (as in, those sales won't go through, but it will artificially increase the perceived value for other auctions). I say this because there are 50 other completed auctions that have averaged around 2000, and they ended at roughly the same time as these two. So I'm calling shenanigans on these auctions (although, since I plan to sell my preorder, I can only hope they're real). I would think that the real test of these machines' ebay value will be Saturday, after everyone goes into stores on Friday and is told that they won't be able to buy a PS3 until March.

does anyone think stores like EB/Gamestop will offer some type of waiting list for after the launch?

I got my hands on a PS3 at Target. The controller feels all right. But thats because its the same thing I've been holding the past 10 years. I didn't play anything because I thought Genji was playable but it ended up being a Trailer. Looked pretty good, but not anything that couldn't be done on a current system. I didn't see any other demos besides a motorcross game so I left.

We set up our PS3 in the store today. Less than an hour afterwards, it froze.

Looks no better than a 360 to me.

Also, it was odd, but the PS3 visible in the demo unit is not attached to anything. There's a second PS3 in the guts of the unit which is what is actually running. I have no idea why they did this.

I would guess its a cooling issue. Having the system in a confined space would require some kind of fan, and to have said fan in with the "displayed" PS3 would be visually unappealing and could also lead to negative impressions and cause for over heating concerns.

Yeah, saw the PS3 at a Best Buy today. Graphics looked real nice, but I think I'm more tempted to join the Wii60 crowd this generation. I'd be more interested if they had done a little more to improve the controller for the PS3. I would have at least liked to have seen what the boomerang would've been like. But I will say this, it's a pretty slick looking system with that coat of glossy black.

I didn't actually play it, just watched others for a minute or two. But all I saw was Motorstorm...

Because Japan didn't need 100,000 launch units, but Sony needed 20,000 demo kiosks.
