It is truly amazing what people will do. There are bids on this item also! Only in America can you sell an empty box for $31!

What's even worse is the final bid is $1100 and the reserve wasn't met.

So that PS3 I hooked my friend up with? Yeah, it won't play any disc he puts in it. He already called sony and they are shipping him a box. However I'm thinking it might be the common HDMI problem. I'll report back later.

The part that showed the riot of people pushing each other to get in line and getting trampled, that is more than just a lawsuit waiting to happen against the store but quite possibly the city as well. If you are an officer it is your duty to ensure something like that does not even get a chance to accur. You would have to interject somehow and get order since there definitely appeared to be none before the guy even announced for everyone to go ahead and try and line up. Just terrible and stupid planning all around in this case. I have a strong feeling that based on situations like this and that terrible shooting that I could possibly see all future launches being done online only or at least by raffle only and have the raffle held days before the launch even occurs.

Wow that didnt take long, I got my order in!!!

One would think these stores would have learned from the 360 launch what you shouldn't do...but apparently they didn't learn a thing. What kind of idiot would just tell a huge group of people like that to just form a line? These places should have had official lines and given people tickets before opening the doors.

I seriously doubt they'll change anything for the next big launch. The same crap will go down and they'll be saying "we didn't expect this at all".

What needs to happen is for companies to not annouce release dates until they know they have a handle on production and will be able to launch with a respectable number of consoles. Announcing early does nothing but force you into a arbitrary date that you may or may not be able to hit realistically.

Yes. I bought one on eBay a few days ago, someone's preorder, and picked it up yesterday. Didn't quite pay the 3k+ that people were doing yesterday, but I did pay between $1-2k. Whatever, I just wanted one now and I have a job so I can't sit on the street for a week...

Ridge Racer 7 looks awesome and is quite good. Tony Hawk 8 is pretty good, but nothing spectacular, but I love the TH series so I got it. The sixaxis control for that game is too sensitive for me so I may have to tweak the settings to get it to play right for me. Call of Duty 3 is the best I've played thus far. The controls are very nice and the sixaxis control, while not used heavily, has some cool uses like smacking people with the butt of your rifle at the flick of your wrist.

I did have some problems with Call of Duty 3 when I first tried it, yeah, the game had no sound at all. Apparently the game initially didn't support 5.1 sound via optical connection. By this morning there was an update and the problem is fixed, so apparently I wasn't the only one with the issue. Also, the unit gets very hot! I have mine on top of my DVD player and my DVD player feels like it's on fire after playing PS3 for awhile. May have to adjust the location or get a fan behind the PS3 or something. I know I shouldn't have it on top of my DVD player cause the PS3 is very heavy, but oh well.

Ebay madness

Has anyone got any errors while trying to load a PS3 game? It took me like 4 tries to get Resistance to work just now.

Also, I can't get the thing to recognize pictures on my thumb drive for some reason. Do I need to put jpgs into a specific folder for it to recognize them?

What exactly doesnt make sense to you here?
