Level 42 Warlock here.

I am specced Aff with a few points in Demon so that the VW can hold aggro. It's a great leveling build.

As for specs, if you spec demonology (which at one point was said to be the best for leveling, I don't know if that is still true), Imp voidwalker will increase his ability to hold aggro.

If you need better options if you pull aggro, if you get Fel Concentration in the Affliction tree you can often cast drain life on whatever is attacking you without too much interruption. Your other option is to cast Fear on the mob and hope they don't aggro any more mobs. If it looks like they are going to be feared into another group of mobs you can cast Curse of Recklessness on them to stop them from running any further.

But really, if things start going badly you need to get used to sacrificing the VW and running.

I'm putting a bunch of points into affliction? Should I go demonology instead?

I don't over do it with the dots.

basically curse of agony, corruption and immolate and thats it. Then I hit drain life.

Thanks for the hints.

What level are you exactly? The Demon tree is a slow one to level, but it is also the safest (and easiest). I recommend going AFF with just enough in Demon to keep your pets up to "date" so to speak. And any FIRE / Destro spell is going to pull the aggro on you, so avoid those if you can, at least until the enemy is almost dead.

Pre-ordered my copy of WOTLK a few seconds ago. Now I just need to level to 70.

One option as affliction is to buy all the "of shadow wrath" gear possible. Once you hit level 30 and get siphon life, you are pretty much unkillable. Here is my level 30 toon with 65 +shadow damage.

I run around dotting 2 or 3 mobs at a time. Sure they smack me around, but each tick of siphon life heals me to full.
Before that, I would run around with succubus out. I'd let her attack once before I cast corruption and curse of agony. usually I'd skip immolation. After that, I'd do one of 3 things: 1)Life tap, then drain life so I would be close to full hp/mana for the next pull 2) wand if I was close to pulling aggro from my pet while the mob still had high (50%+) health 3)heal my pet. Ideally, I'd pull aggro off the pet at around 50% health, and the mob would be at 20% or less by the time it ran over to me. I found this works easily with a voidwalker, but nearly as well with a succubus that has its soothe autocast turned off. By wanding instead of shadowbolting, I take slightly longer to kill mobs, but pets hold aggro longer, and I hardly ever have to stop to drink

Worst case scenario, Chain fear the mob with dots ticking and pet chasing it around.

I just got home from pre-ordering the CE myself. I always regretted not getting the CE of BC and WOW. Can't wait for November 13th, but I wouldn't be surprised if it gets delayed some. I'd rather them release it with as few bugs as possible than rush to compete with Warhammmer.

It will be in pretty good shape by Nov 13th. I was in the beta back in July and was surprized at how polished it was. Especially the starting areas.

Just getting the regular version here. Already pre-ordered and took that Thursday and Friday off from work.

I will bet my left nut that they don't push the date back. Blizzard never moves a date once they "officially" announce it. They may have to patch the game on release day, but they won't move the date.

I'm excited. Currently dual-boxing using the Refer-A-Friend program to try and get my toons leveled up before Wrath. Got a warlock/shaman combo going, but will probably replace the lock with my 32 prot pally once my shaman hits 32. I figure a pally/shammy combo will be great for leveling.

Blizzard didn't officially announce a date for The Burning Crusade? I could have sworn that they did and it was delayed until January.

No, IIRC, they didn't say anything officially until the January date was announced. I'm pretty sure hey never delayed it.

Why go high on shadow wrath?

The kodo dropped for us once, and the only non-guildie in the group got it. But I suppose kodos for horde are nothing special. I like the fact that they added a level 70 Barman's Shanker. It's almost enough to get me on my alliance rogue and level from 60-70.

Brewfest is a bit of a disappointment for me. I do find the pink elekks amusing, though.

Yeah, we killed him 6 or 7 times and I swear saw the same two trinkets the whole time. I'd like that AP trinket for my hunter, please.

@superdeluxe: high shadow dmg gear will make your affliction dots tick for a lot more. So basically you are dotting things up and life draining them to death. It works pretty darn well.

Holy crap..once I hit level 30, Drain Tanking basically leaves me with no down time.

I love it now.

What I do with all 7 of the 70's I have is get a diffrent 5 man group for each one. That way I have 35 chances to get the ram or kodo instead of the 11 I would get if I just brought in my 6 other 70's to the main group I started with. So far I have both the ram and kodo on the druid (which is nice as it is my main) and the ram on the warrior, and the mage.

I've won the ram on my lock and last night the kodo dropped for my friend. In other news, I had my first successful ZA bear mount run last night. We finished with 3 minutes left to spare after having 3 people die on the bomb dropping boss. 2 people passed on the bear mount which left me with a 1/8 chance in winning but I lost to one of those guys that seems to win everything.

I have been doing these about everyday from 5-25 times adn both of those drop ALL the time. I have had 2 different runs that 4 times in a row the same trinket dropped and on both 2 of the 4 all 5 in party had both items. I have still had no Ram or Kodo drop, and only 3 mounts drop for a guildie.

i use my alts for the same group so then it gives my wife a couple extra chances. we did see the Kodo drop on friday but one of our guildies won it instead of my wife or i.
i did get the remote on my mage and the dark iron beermaiden on my shaman. my wife for the healing beermaiden trinket.

i started checking out the netherwing dailies. how long do these quests take? a lot longer than the sunwell isle dailies? killing the transporters for 10 drops seems to take a long time. and finding and killing mosters for the poison gland was also slow. am i missing some shortcuts or something?

Yeah, we've seen a ton of the brewmaid trinkets, plus the spell dmg and healing trinkets. Only saw the AP trinket once, and I lost the roll. >_< Ah well, it'll all be replaced in 6 weeks, right? :P

From what I've heard, the random drops on the netherwing quests can make them take way longer than the Isle dailies. I think the only reason people do them is for Netherwing rep. If you're doing it for money, go for the Isle.

The transporter quest is the worst of the Netherwing dailies, and the poison gland one is really only good if you do it in a group. Once you reach friendly/honored, you start getting some quests that can be done in a more reasonable amount of time (the mine quests and the bootarang in particular). But yeah, for most gold per minute, the Sunwell quests are the way to go.

After doing 10 dailies a day for two characters for a long time, I can't bring myself to do them anymore. But how much money will you really need for WotLK?
