Honestly, is it THAT big of a deal if you have to order the cables on line? I don't buy A/V cables in stores anyway, there are always online purchases. So I'm fine with waiting for a few days.

Just doesn't seem like a big show stopper to me.

And that Target GC is awesome. I wouldn't want to spend it.

It is an annoyance at worst. As long as you can get the cables before or when you are ready to hook the thing up, it shouldn't be a big deal. Hence the desire to pick them up simultaneously. I certainly wouldn't want to have a brand new console that only comes with cables I know I'm not going to be using. Of course the level of annoyance depends on how difficult it is for one to switch cables around. For me, it is a real PITA, so I'd like to only do it once and I'm not going to want to put off playing either just to wait on the right cables.

Its not the end of the world, but I personally would hate to wait a week for them to ship. When you get a new console you kind of want to take it right home and hook it up.

Yeah, hopefully the cables will be available at least a week prior to launch. I guess I could hook it up via composite for a few days if I had to, but as others have said, it would be a little less annoying if we can just hook it up once the way we want.

Yeah, I need S-video, so I'm hoping to be able to find them at or before launch. I'm fine with third party as long as they are cheap. I just need S-video to run through the switching on my receiver.

If I can't find one, I'll just plug it in to the composites on the front of my TV for now. I doubt I'll be through Okami by then anyway, and that will probably be getting most of my time anyway if that is the case.

You get to keep GC's after you spend them, if you like.

In fact, my friend worked at a Target and gave me a few of the Mario GC's, he said they don't care if there's no credit, since they get a bunch of them in. I don't know how many of those Wii ones they get, but if you're risky enough (I don't usually condone stealing), just grab one. And if you're not? Put down a buck on it and keep it.

So, I don't own a gamecube, and haven't played any of the GC titles. Should I start stocking up on GC Games (Like RE4, Zelda, SSBM) and GC controllers for the Wii launch?

If you want to play them.

I think you could also use the retro controller for the GC games...someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

The Gamecube controller is the worst I've ever played with.

If there's a good sale, then yes. Otherwise, there's no rush since you won't be able to play them until you get the system anyway. The titles aren't going away very soon.

But yes, you should get them. There are a lot of amazing, cheap GC titles available, so take advantage of it.

Yes, you can use the VC controller for GC games, but unlike Lee, I think the Gamecube controller is one of the best ever made, and the VC design looks like it's made to cramp your hands, so I'd get a Wavebird.

I would. Cube was by far my favorite console last gen and has a lot of gems. Grab some cheap stuff during the buy two get one free at EB. I think the Wii is going to have some major dry spells its first 6 months or so and those Cube games will come in handy.

Gamecube is a great system. I just recently unloaded mine at Gamestop with the extra $20 deal, but definitely held on to every one of my games. They are just too good to get rid of.

No, that's fairly accurate. That right thumb button layout is ridiculous.

Bah, the right-side buttons are fine. They aren't equi-sized which actually helps, imo.

Anyway, what the hell happened to Pixy? I've been waiting for his Wii Experience review for days now. Did I miss it? Maybe it knocked him catatonic...

I loved the Wavebird personally. Definitely like it better than the Dual Shock.

Thanks for the advice guys. Maybe I'll pick up a Wavebird since I've heard nothing but good things about it. Either way, I'll definately pick up a handful of the Best-Selling/Highly-Regarded games that I missed from the GC era and have a go at them while waiting for more Wii games over the Holiday break.

He was destroyed by the Wii when he played it; his heart was not pure.

Have to agree with the others, the GC controller--especially the wavebird--is easily my all time favorite.

Fits my hands like a glove, and worked great for the GC exclusives and most third party games in general.

I'm here.. I'm just a bit busy at work and very tired.

I'll post something in depth when I get home. We got to play Excite Truck, Wario Ware, Wii Play (shooting) and Zelda Extreme. We opted to skip Wii Sports. The PR guy we worked with said they took Metroid off of the tour a couple of weeks ago, I was devastated!

Here I am playing Wario Ware:

Sold one of my Wii pre-orders on ebay and made $150, which pays off the Wii I'm keeping for myself. Not bad.

Pixy - thanks for posting the pic. I assume the cable connected to the Wii remote was for security purposes? How responsive was it? You experience any problems while playing Wario?

I have to agree as well. The wavebird ranks up as one of my favorite controllers, ever. The only one that comes close to it is the 360 controller.
