Ok, I'll just think of it as $199.99 for the system and $50 for Wii Sports. :p

Yeah, not bad now there's a reason for the extra cost over Japan's $215ish. Still makes more sense to include 2 full controllers. No biggie.

The fact that Wii Sports now includes Bowling and Boxing sweetens the deal a bit. The Boxing game definitely seems promising, especially if they use the nunchuk for controlling the boxer's left hand and the Wiimote for controlling the right hand (which is pure speculation on my part).

Wait no Duck Hunt in Wii Sports? I don't mind the white console, but I at least want Duck Hunt for my $250. The bad thing about Wii Sports is its really made for at least two people to play. That means a $50 controller purchase is a must.

I just don't know yet if I really want to drop $300 on this. Depends on the games and I'm not sure how many of the launch titles are going to be worth getting.

When should we expect sites to offer it for pre-order?

While I was rooting for $200, you're absolutely right. People build shit up WAY too much on the internet.

I'm going by Gamestop today to pick up Cooking Mama, I'll try to pre-pay (in full) for a Wii.

I'd expect sometime in the next couple of days. Maybe even as early as today at some stores, though maybe that's wishful thinking.

First party games will be $50. NES games on the Virtual Console will be $5, SNES games for $8, and N64 games for $10. Seems to line up with the previously announced Japanese prices.

Very sexy!!

I'm still not sure how on board I'll be with VC as I have a very NICE NES/SNES collection.

PixyJunket 09-14-06 08:53 AM

I'll be the first to say it!

66 DAYS TO GO TIME!!

Same here. But one potentially cool use of the VC would be to release rare games or Japanese-only games in the US. I don't feel like shelling out $60 on ebay for the U.S. release of Earthbound (SNES), but I'd gladly pay $8 for it.

glasschicken 09-14-06 08:55 AM

While I wish it was being released soon I guess it's good they have more time to meet demand. Hopefully everyone who wants one will be able to get one launch day.

UncleGramps 09-14-06 08:57 AM

This may have been mentioned already, but go to Wii.com and click Japan up at the top. You can see demo movies of what the "Wii Channels" interfaces look like. The charicature maker looks pretty amusing.

PixyJunket 09-14-06 08:57 AM

They should just release Mother 1+2 and Mother 3 for the GBA over here. ;)

tpc 09-14-06 08:59 AM

it looks like the Opera browser needs to be purchased to enable web surfing, using wii Points.

pinata242 09-14-06 09:01 AM

$60 for an extra Wii-mote & nunchuck!!?

Wii remote sold seperate from nunchuck. Wiimote - 39.99 - Nunchuck 19.99
Also, Zelda for Gamecube nearly a month later.

Zelda TP - Launches for GameCube on December 11th, Zelda for Wii first day

So that's where they're making thier money from. Now I see. That's a little steep. Still I'll buy at least 1 extra one.

pinata242 09-14-06 09:05 AM

You can tell they regret promising Zelda on the Gamecube initially.

Shagrath 09-14-06 09:06 AM

That's definately a little steep for a controller, but what are you going to do?

pinata242 09-14-06 09:07 AM

Wii connects through wifi or wired internet connection
No mention if they're including an ethernet port now or if this is still via a usb->ethernet adaptor.

UncleGramps 09-14-06 09:08 AM

From Gamespot's coverage:

"Will the system have its own internal memory for photos and such? Kaplan says it will have some capacity for internal memory, but "most" of the storage will indeed be through SD card.

Of the 30 games promised by year's end, Kaplan says about half of those will be available at launch. Sounds like Zelda, Excite Truck, and Wii Sports are the only first-party ones, though. "

I thought Metroid Prime 3 had been previously announced as a launch title? I guess it was moved back a bit.

Edit: Ah, bugger. According to Go Nintendo: "Metroid Prime 3 is a 2007 title"
