While i understand everyone has different reasons for buy/not buying a particular console and i am behind the Wii wholeheartedly but it truly boggles my mind that the HD drive would be a sticking point for someone. The games aren't going to be put on HDDVD (so they have continued to claim) and if an introductory HDDVD player runs around 500$ and would most likely do a better job than the 360 drive then why is this even an issue. I see people frequently trying to equivocate the PS3 price to the 360 + HD drive extra and say they are both ridiculous. But i fail to see why an optional accessory (that i really wonder how well it will sell) would be added into the comparison with a system that forces you to buy the new movie technology.

Maybe i'm just taking for granted the number of people using these devices for movies over games.

The difference is that MS isn't forcing HD-DVD down anyone's throat and that's the problem people have with the PS3's price.

A $200 add on is still better than having to drop $500 for a machine. I might get it, depending on the specs.

Is there away to connect a wirless Xbox 360 Controller to your PC with the charging cable. I plug it into my pc when am not around to keep it charged, but my PC won't detect it as a gamepad. I even downloaded the drivers, is it because it's wireless that my PC won't read it ?

No, even when plugged in, the wireless pad still sends game commands wirelessly, not via the USB cable. So you would have to get a wireless signal detector on your PC specifically for the 360 pad, which as of now, does not exist.

Right. I've used my PC to charge my controller when my 360 is off. But it can only charge through the USB port.

Also, isn't it true that the -WIRED- 360 controller can be used on PC's? I thought I read that somewhere...

Yes if you have the Wired controller your in luck, it works on pc's. In fact it can even be used with the new Flight Simulator demo.

There's an adapter for the pc coming out. MS announced it at E3 along with a wireless headset and steering wheel. I'm not sure when it's releasing though.

I usually use EBGAMES, but ignore everything that has a date 9/1/06 or 12/1/06...those imply that the game is releasing that quarter.

IGN has a decent list also....

I've seen a "Lego Star Wars" game trailer in the theater. It was before the Coming Attractions during the commercial part of the pre-show.

Microsoft has sent word today that the latest title to appear on Xbox Live, Texas Hold 'Em, will be available from Wednesday August 23rd, 6PM Australian Eastern Standard time. The entire game will be available for free for 48 hours only. On Friday August 25th, the game will be available for 800 Microsoft points.

---

Grain of salt.

Texas Hold'em free for 48 hours?

"Microsoft isn't bluffing" they boast as they inform gamers they can log onto Xbox Live within the first 48 hours after the launch and download Texas Hold 'em – completely free of charge! The poker title for Xbox Live Arcade on Xbox 360 will launch on Wednesday, August 23 at 6pm EST.

Don't forget the promotion will last for 48 hours only – Wednesday, August 23 through to 6pm EST Friday, August 25. Once the promotion ends at 6:01pm EST Friday, August 25, Texas Hold 'em will then be available for 800 Microsoft Points but those that downloaded it during the 48 hours will get to keep the title forever without having to pay a penny!

It goes without saying that to save yourself almost £8 you should get yourself on the Live Marketplace sometime during the course of those two days and get something for nothing as you don't get much of that nowadays in the console gaming world...

...well done Microsoft!

Update: In an intresting turn of events the page on Xbox.com that once displayed the news now has been taken down. We are not 100% sure what this means but we hope the 48 hour promotion will still go ahead. It's got to go ahead as we just praised Microsoft and we can't just go around unpraising people now can we!

A bit more as well.

In addition to the exciting release of Texas Hold ’em on August 23, gamers can also look forward to new game titles and premium downloadable game content on Xbox Live Arcade Wednesdays from August 16 to September 6, including:

Cloning Clyde Picture Pack, the action adventure/puzzle game created by Wahoo Studios/NinjaBee (developer of the popular Outpost Kaloki X for Xbox Live Arcade), will have four new gamer picture packs available on Xbox Live Marketplace on Wednesday, August 16, allowing gamers to check out more unique pictures of Clyde. Each gamer picture pack: 100 Microsoft Points each.

Time Pilot, the futuristic fighter pilot classic from Konami, lets gamers fight through different eras like never before. High-definition graphics and enhanced gameplay designed specifically for Xbox Live Arcade makes this version even better than the original from 1982. Gamers can download Time Pilot on Xbox Live Arcade Wednesday, August 30. Available: 400 Microsoft Points.

Scramble, the classic side-scrolling ‘shoot-‘em up’ coin-op title from Konami, takes off on Xbox Live Arcade. The 1981 classic, widely considered the first ‘multi-level shooter,’ launches on Xbox Live Arcade Wednesday September 6. Available: 400 Microsoft Points.

Apparently it was posted official on xbox.com as a press release for a short period of time. Various forum posters on xbox.com pasted it from the release onto the forums. No reason why it was removed as of yet.
