I'm a big fan of the gems that you fling at them.

Question... What's with all of the George A. Romero disclaimers? Aren't there dozens of zombie movies this is similar to?

I guess due to the fact it takes place in a Mall like Dawn of the Dead.

I'll bet that it was put in as a TRIBUTE to George Romero! He doesn't own the rights to "DAWN OF THE DEAD".... the producer of the 1978 film, Richard Rubenstein does. And it was Rubenstein who made the deal to allow a remake to be made.

I'd like to think that Capcom wanted to pay homage Romero and by clearly stating that disclaimer, they're making a statement about what they consider the REAL Dawn of the Dead.

Even though I'll be picking up DEAD RISING as soon as I can after midnight (early Tuesday morning), I downloaded and tried out the demo. Maybe I'm overly sensitive to anything zombie-related (it is my favorite subgenre) but I found the demo to be surprisingly tense and suspenseful. It's only a videogame for crying out loud, but I got genuinely nervous looking out at the sea of zombies in the beautifully rendered mall. And when my character got bit, I cringed.

I can't wait for the full deal!

I said it before and I'll say it again. I loved the Dead Rising demo and can't wait to pick it up on Tuesday! This is easily my most anticipated game of all time and the reason I bought a 360 in the first place. If I had to pick between getting Halo 3, Call of Duty 3 or Dead Rising on Tuesday, I would pick DR without a doubt. Coolest thng is I burned my promo Dawn of the Dead 2004 score that I got from Tyler Bates and played it during the demo. It works perfectly and adds so much more to the game!

For those of you who've played the Dead Rising demo, perhaps you could answer a few questions...

Is the play style similar to the Grand Theft Auto series? I'm talking general feel and not controller specifics. That's my impression from the vids I've watched.

Does the game have any sort of memory as far as what zombies you've killed? Meaning that if you clear out an hour, leave, and come back... will all the zombies just respawn? Or is there a sense of clearing out areas as "safe zones"?

And do weapons respawn? Or does the game keep a memory for what you've depleted (a la Resident Evil)?

Well the demo only lasts for 15 minutes max, so it's hard to tell if things respawn over time or not. However throughout the 15 minute demo, no weapons or food that you have consumed respawn and all the zombies you killed stay dead on the ground. Also the play style is not like Grand Theft Auto but more like Resident Evil 4 IMO. You can go into first person when you want to aim and throw, take a picture or shoot something, but that's it. Hope this helps.

And on the other end of that line of thinking is my opinion that this is very much like Grand Theft Auto in terms of control as well as general feel. To me, if you took away the zombies and a few of the obvious things created just for this game, it would be just about the same thing as the GTA mall settings. To me it feels like a far more polished and interactive version of that, only with some really cool weapons, features, and of course tons of zombies.

Of course it's far creepier than GTA, but that's obvious.

I don't mean any of that in a bad way, I'm just saying that's what I get from the demo so far.

Possible Deal Alert:

Huge pricing mistake in the Sunday Sears ad. 360 Hard Drive for $14.99. May be easier to pricematch at Wally World before Sears actually opens today.

IMO, Dead Rising feels nothing at all like GTA (it feels different in gameplay, structure, setup, atmosphere and tone). There's a certain amount of freedom to everything, but really it reminds me more of Tony Hawk 4 than GTA. Dunno about the zombies, they stay dead and their bodies stay put in the demo. As for weapons, the demo is kind of short to tell for sure, but once something is taken it's gone.

That all said, I'm trying to figure out how Saints Row got away with copying GTA so closely.

nope. I went in at 10:00am and they didn't have any. they told me their truck didn't come in yet. told me to come back in an hour and if they still didn't have any they would give me a raincheck of sorts so I'd have all week to get one. went back an hour later and they had signs posted about the pricing error and that they aren't honoring it.

also tried a PM at BB with no luck. oh well, this deal was too good to get in on I guess.

I didn't see this deal in our Sears ad today, but I did go to Sears.com and printed off the page of the ad from Detroit, Michigan that this is listed on, and took it to WalMart.

They matched the $14.99 price without much hassle at all.

Ugh, they need to put a disclaimer on Fight Night Round 3 that says it's hazardous to your hands. I played a bit too much last night and this morning and now the index finger on my right hand and the thumb on my left hand are both tingling. On the bright side, I went from 0-4 in ranked games to 24-24.

Any of you guys still playing this? I had a brother over and he wanted to play this one cause he had never played a 360 before, he's a PS2 guy. Looks like we may have a convert soon. haha he loved this game. His enthusiasm kinda got me back into it.

Even though I had trade FN3 and PGR3 a few weeks back, I picked them up again since a couple of my friends now have them and have Live accounts. I am a pathetic 0-4, but since I rented FN3 first before buying it, I don't have the booklet, and can't remember how to do anything.

I tried to play NHL 2K6 on Live last week and there was not one other person online to play. I ended up selling it on ebay.

So which hockey game are those that are interested going with? 2K7 or NHL'07? 2K Sports or EA Sports?

Hey all,
I loaned my 360 out for a while, so I haven't been keeping up with the thread. Is there already a thread started with impressions about XBL Arcade games? Finally picked up some points, and bought the full version of Geometry Wars. My wife is also hooked on Hexic. Any others (besides SFII) that are worth it?

Zuma is a very addicting puzzle game. (my favorite arcade game)

Uno - a blast, plain and simple

Wik: Fable of souls - hard to describe, but very fun once you get the hang of it. Not much replay value though.

Those are the only 3 must own/play, IMO(not a fan of SFII), but everyone's opinion will be different. Just download the demos and play away.

Zuma is great. I really dig Astropop. Geo Wars of course.

Wik is a fun title, as is Clonging Clyde. But definitely download the demos and try them out, that's the beauty of the marketplace.

Both hockey games are looking decent. I think EA (I could be wrong, might be 2K7) basically got rid of the face buttons and you can do everything with the right analog stick. seems a little odd to me. I still have NHL and NBA, but both may go to upgrade to the new versions, we'll see. I'm sure Madden will take up my time for sports.

As for XBLA - I thought Cloning Clyde was good. Wik was ok, but isn't the demo the whole game minus achievements?

-UNO is fun also

SFII sucks Ok, I'm not a fan....I just want to piss people off.

I don't think you can save on the demo so you would have to start at board 1 everytime you boot up.

One of the mags (Game Informer, maybe) had a preview that talked about using the stick. Basically they said it did seem odd at first, but after a little while it was very intuitive and you'll never need to use the buttons again. This actually has me interested in buying a hockey game for the first time in years

Hockey-I have been staying true to the 2k sports series for a while now, and I have been VERY happy with them.
