yeah the demo is pretty awesome, i havent played for that long but doesnt seem like the whole mall is open to expore but there are tons of zombies on screen with no apparent slowdown, graphics are very good. games a ton of fun, I love using the golf club and hitting zombies with golf balls. very fun. cant wait to pick this game up. stores feel like real stores though, the toy store is neat, so detailed you can zoom in and read all the boxes of the toys. very cool

How big does the mall feel? Do you get the sense you're really in a giant shopping mall?

And how about the hundreds of zombies on screen at once. Does the 360 pull it off? Any slowdown?
I guess I'm greedy and wanted more than I got. I played the demo a 3rd time and there is either a kill limit or a time limit before the demo ends. I was in the middle area of the mall with around 130 kills and another cut-scene happened. I LOVE the electric guitar as a weapon and I also ran into the kiddie clothing store on my 3rd time to switch outfits.

There are a good number of zombies on screen but it's nothing really overwhelming. I was pretty nervous that it would be too many zombies. The demo really drops you into the middle of the mall and it's kill or be killed. I would like to know big the mall in the full game is when compared to the demo in the mall. The mall is decent but I'm worried that it won't be as big as I previously thought.

I can't seem to get this to last for more than a few minutes total. I start a zombie killing spree and all of a sudden a cut scene and the demo ends.

Well there is an upstairs to the mall unfortunately when I got there the demo time ran out. I also made it clear across the mall over to the movie theater, but when I entered a cut scene started ending the demo. I didn't see any slow down in the game when the amount of zombies started growing. One thing I did like was when you thought a zombie was down he got right back up and scared the heck out of me. Getting across the mall is no easy task since most of the zombies are gathered in that area, I ended up using a bench to mow all the zombies down.

ok, I just tried another game and this one lasted a total of about 30sec. I killed about 5 zombies and then I walked into the Entrance Plaza and got a cut scene and that was it. I guess I'll stay away from that area in the demo.

Yeah, going into certain areas (Entrance Plaza, the movie theater) triggers a cutscene and ends the demo. There's also a time limit, after which you see a cutscene of the zombies going nuts after the sun goes down, and then the demo ends. To get the most out of the demo, you can play through it a few times, triggering each cutscene once as well as just attacking the zombies until the time limit runs out. There are a ton of weapons available to find, and you can mess around with the camera too.

I really enjoyed the demo, but the cutscenes have me convinced that a lot of the fun of the full game will be finding survivors and progressing through the story. Zombie slaughter is a lot of fun, but the characters and plot will give it a little more longevity. The core gameplay is really entertaining, and there's a good amount of humor. I'm really looking forward to the full game - just a few days left!

As far as I can tell, the demo is limited to the Paradise Plaza, so there's a lot of mall left to explore in the full game.

One thing I will do when I get this game is change the soundtrack to something rocking. None of the dumb Mall music.

I've already read about some "erotica" bonus for taking photos. Try an upskirt of the zombie girl...

Based on everyone's initial impressions I can't wait to play this. I guess I'll download it when I get home from work and fire it up once I get home from happy hour. Although happy hour for me on a Friday usually runs from 6pm till about 10pm, so I'll probably wind up waiting till tomorrow.

The demo has a 15 minute timer. Once it is up, it will show a cut scene saying that it is 7PM and the game will end. Also, if you go to the hallway directly behind where you start, outside, or to the movie theatre, the demo will end with a cut scene.

Spoiler for Dead Rising (highlight to see below):

There is a magazie on the floor of Contemporary reading. If you pic this up it says above the zombies heads, erotica, horror, funny and etc. This will help with putting masks on zombies and for the erotica pics.

I love the Dead Rising demo so far. Hacking up zombies with the kitana sword is by far the most fun.

stay away from that toy laser sword. I kept hacking away at a ton of zombies(I was completelt out of weapons and it was the first thing I could grab) and it did nothing more than knock them down for a few seconds.

I don't why I like it so much, but I plan to buy Dead Rising. I guess it's just the appeal of killing zombies.

My favorite weapon in the demo is the baseball bat. It's quick and seems to do a lot of damage.

The hunting knife is pretty good too. I didn't find the golf clubs.

Can you ride in the shopping cart? Or maybe push it and jump on the back?

Is there a limited amount of time for each weapon? I was using the scythe(?) at the start then it went away after a while. I know you can throw them but I didn't.

With scythe
tap - catch a zombie by the neck and rip its head off
Holding button - leg sweep that cuts legs off

I like this demo better than the one for Saint's Row. It's, ummm, different, you know?

Watch this quick video. The guy is obviously being stupid on purpose, but still:

so i finally decided to get SF2 HF. I'm pretty awful at it (can't beat like the third guy on the default difficulty) but if anyone is in the mood for a amateurs match let me know. I always was better at MK.

Head upstairs and go into the Columbian coffee place that overlooks the main mall. From the entrance on the left, head past the counter with the pies and look out into the mall. At one area, there should be a brown ledge with the katana sitting on it. Jump over the railing and you've got it.

Doesn't last for long, but it's freakin deadly.

The best erotica picture I've taken is the goth chick with the low cut top. The camera gave me 375 points for a combination upskirt / tits shot. Ha!

That toy shop is a room of death if you run out of weapons. Both the boomerrang and the toy lightsabers are jokes. Just like the water gun.

If anyone is looking for some fun weapons, try the soda cans, bowling balls, skateboards, or the electric guitar.

Like Flay said, jump over the edge of the coffe place closest to the counter on your left. The katana is lying on the the ledge that you land on. Have fun!
