I also just started to play and got frustrated with having to restart. Maybe someone can help. After I escort the old couple from the roof I save. Then I go through the warehouse and try to save the other photojournalist. Problem is that I get killed right before I can get back into the mall. I see the lawn mower and try to use it. But, I am getting hung up on the controls and get killed. Then I have to restart go through the warehouse, have to listen to the the janitors instructions and the nonsense with the woman and her case. Is their any tips or save points after you leave the corridor with the woman??
Any help would be appreciated.
Also, any tips about what weapon I should use at first? I use the bat. But, it seems to take longer to swing. I have the gun. But, want to save the bullets for later. Any weapons that are quicker and deadlier along the way?

Wow that is early. First, you can save in restrooms. When you leave the warehouse head right and go underneath the second floor. The restrooms are down the hallway to the right. Save there and you don't have to listen to your cut scenes again.
As for weapons, head back to the staircase and go halfway up. To your right is a blue awning over the kids store. Jump up to it and you can climb up and walk around on top of it. Follow it around and you can get an Uzi.
After that head back to the staircase and go to Columbian Roasters on the second floor. You can mix a couple of orange juices in the blender and get a smoothie to replenish your health when you need it. Once you are done with that, you can hop out the window on top of an orange awning which has a Katana resting on it. Hop down and head back to the restroom to save so that you don't have to search them out again when you die.
Those three items, Uzi/Katana/Smoothie should be enough to help you get started.
I had no idea about the Uzi or Katana until a second play through.
Those would have helped.

Are you sure? The description needs a little work. The underline and bold statements contradict each other. To my estimation there is no lawn mower in the Warehouse. The only one I can think of this early in the game is right outside the Paradise Plaza / courtyard area.
Hell maybe there is a lawn mower in there that I ran past about 250 times.
At any rate, there is a baseball bat right outside the security room. That should do fine until you get into the mall and then reread my post.

Hey, I will resolve this. I did make it through the warehouse and through part of the mall. Its when I go outside. I make it through the park. Its when I get to the other mall entrance that I get overwhelmed. I know their is a big mower. But, like I said I just got a 360. I have only ever played FPS with a mouse and keyboard and I am trying to get the hang of the controller.
Thanks for the info!

A ha. I figured. You sound like you are outside Wonderland or the Food Court. The lawn mower isn't the easiest to control. If you are having trouble getting through to the door just jump over a semi-hole/break in the zombies and hit the open door button. It will start loading before a zombie can grab you.
And re-read post #779 again to stock up and save before you head out.
*and it is a third person game, not a FPS.

Wow, their is a lot of crap to have to do and remember. My problem is that with work, a wife, 3 kids and a puppy my time is limited. That is why I like FPS (and/or third person shooters). I can pop it in for whatever free time I have...shoot and blow things up and not have to think about it. I always found it amazing the people who can put these games on and finish them in a day or so.
I didn't know that you can only use a weapon for so long...was having so much fun slicing zombies with the Katana.
Have their been any cheats found where you get all weapons and unlimited health?

You can prolong the life of weapons/health items and other cool stuff by carrying various books from the bookstores in the mall. For example, as soon as you get out the Warehouse, there's a bookstore across from you with a Sports book that will extend the life of sports-related weapons (baseball bat, hockey stick, etc.). In the bookstore under Columbian Roastmasters is an Engineering book which is used for hardware weapons (sledghammers, chainsaws, etc.). There are also books for the edged weapons (like your katana) but I forgot where they are. Of course each book takes up an inventory slot which may become bothersome until you level up a bit to get more slots.
Shit I didn't know about the Uzi until right now
. The only place I knew to get it was from the Al Fresca fountain.

You're right. Though to be honest I ended up not really using the guns too much, except to blow up the cannisters and take out Adam. The Special Forces and Convict guns are pretty kick ass though.

Me neither, but they did work well on some of the psychos.

Just wanted to say congrats to all of you for having a fine game. I went the way of RS:LV but I see "Dead People" in my future.

Well I went back to this game this weekend to try for my third attempt at the Saint Achievement. I'm in the home stretch, final 12 hours, so assuming all goes well, I should finally have it.
During this run I also managed to snag:
- Transmissionary
- Tour Guide
- Census Taker
- Hella Copter
- Saint
So not bad. It's been fun going back to this. A bit more difficult since I hadn't played it since Oct. I was a bit rusty and had to redo many areas due to wasting time and forgetting where stuff was. I never even attempted Overtime mode yet. Guess I will finally hop into that next.
It was also probably the most difficult Achievement I have out of my 18k. Only worth 20 points too.
But worth every minute of it.

LOL, Yeah I got a bunch when I got Saint, but I was happiest to see Transmissionary pop up during the Saint quest, since I was planning to replay it just to get that one. I had read horror stories aboiut having to be in the right place at the right time to get all the calls or you had to start over, but I wasn't even trying for it and i got it luckily. I gave up on getting the last forty points on the two Overtime achievements. I don't have the free consecutive hours to get that, unfortunately. Maybe if I lose my job, I'll be able to change the 960 to a 1000 on my game list someday

How much real time is involved in the two Overtime achievements? I've read you have to leave the system on, no saving. I've also read you can find spots to hide and just let it sit. If so I might give that a go the week RE4 comes out since I will be on the wii anyway. Find a place to camp and go play the Wii.

Well, from what I remembered from a well regarded walkthrough that I can't find now, the straight-through realtime for the 7 day survivor achievement is about 14-17 hours, depending on how well you know the mall layout. Since there are no saves allowed, you have to do it in one shot and your health constantly drains automatically, so even hiding will require periodic monitoring to eat food. That rules out overnight stints while you sleep, though you could pause the game as long as your console doesn't shut off automatically. Apparently food is also in limited supply. I remember it saying the best place to hide was just outside the ventilation shaft since the zombie's couldn't get you, though I don't see why you couldn't stay on top of the awning in Paradise Plaza as well. Maybe the Bosses can hit you up there.

We were actually referring to the last two Overtime achievements (5-Day and 7-Day Survivor) and not the Overtime Mode one. You most certainly can't beat those in 4-5 game hours

thanks matome. I hit the xbox.com forums for a little research and looks like you are correct(and for anyone that might wander in wanting the info):
- 10 real time hours (5 day survivor)
- 14 real time hours (7 day survivor)
- health drains so leaving Frank alone will not work
- food is limited
- boss's drop food when you kill them
- day 4 glitch(game freezes on day four if you go to the food court) It's from an old post, not sure if the game has had an update to fix it
- Supposedly this the Definitive "Infinity Mode" Walk-through Guide
