First game that will NOT use the Wii-Mote.
Pit, Wario, Meta-Knight, Armorless Samus, Nitendogs look like new characters..
PLUS SOLID SNAKE?!
Awesome.

The news of Solid Snake in SSB has brought out the inner nerd in me. I'm sure I'm getting acne breakouts as we speak. Honestly, this is the most exciting announcement at all of E3 for me.
P.S. ONLINE MULTIPLAYER! Somebody freeze me now and thaw me out when this game comes out, I don't think I can bear to wait!

Online multi-player.
Will NOT be a launch title.
2007 release.

Kojima begged Sakurai to include Snake in the GameCube version of Smash Bros., but it was too late in the development cycle to add the character. When Brawl became a reality, Sakurai contacted Kojima and the decision was made to introduce Snake into the series. Solid Snake will use explosives ... and a cardboard box.
Snake is the only thrid party character confirmed for Brawl. Sakurai has confirmed that other third party characters are a definite possible. There was talk of Sonic...

Well, Solid Snake does appear on the Gamecube in Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, which was a remake of the original Metal Gear Solid, so I don't think this is going to hurt Sony too much. Hideo Kojima owns the rights to all things Metal Gear, and clearly he's chosen to go with Sony for the main game installments. But he did beg to have Snake put into SSB, so I guess he spends his nights trying to get all of the statues.

wait huh!? what!!!! The surprises keep coming! There is a trailer for this game apparently, I must see it! SSBM is a game with the most replayability I have ever seen in the history of gaming, there's so much to unlock, so many characters, so much to do, and its fun to play. This game just upped the ante.

One question I have is did they abandon the idea of the controller shell?
This game is said to be Cube controller compatible, but can you also use the VC controller they have shown? Guess my Wavebirds will continue to get use on the Wii.

Forget Snake, I think the real news is Kid Icarus. Makes it seem promising that he will make a solo appearance in his own game. Unless I missed the announcement somewhere.

I await your post then.

I think the fact that there's just a detailed character that has been developed here is proof enough that the game is, at the very least, in design/development. It'll happen.

Regarding the Nintendogs, I don't think they're playable characters. At least they weren't listed as newcomers in the trailer.
My guess is they're items for online battles as they seem to block your view of the battle. Much like the Blooper in MK
S. I say online, because they wouldn't make much sense in a single-screen battle where it would hurt you just as much as your opponents.

Wow, the video is so incredible. It is exactly like, what, 6 years ago? When they showed the GC Smash Bros. preview.
AWESOME!

That's too bad. It's okay though. Zelda and virtual console will keep me busy for a very long time.

Yep, Metroid is a launch title too.
Mario Galaxy isn't though.
I'm actually kind of glad, release too many games at the same time and they fall through the cracks and I never get around to picking them up in the case of someting like Smash Bros that I'm only casually interested. I'd rather it come in in 2007 when I'm through all the launch games and the DS's killer fall lineup and itching for something to play.
