I'd be more bummed out if the Tower download hadn't kicked so much ass. I'm still coming down off of that great purchase. My buddy bought the Razor download and we chatted the other night while he played. It sounded like fun and I might just cave in and get it.
Pun intended?

Question: When expansion packs for games like these are released, are they typically completely separate discs where you can load up your saved games from the original disc or something?
I'm debating selling this game as I've got all 1000 achievements and doubt I'd play any more of the quests on the disc...but I'm not sure I want to sell it if I have to own the disc for the expansion packs.

I finally finished the main quest last night. I now have completed all of the 360 achievements. Theres still alot of side quests I could do like the daedric quests but, i think I'm done with this game unless a true expansion pack comes out.

I almost thought I was going to have to start over though, at one point.
For those that completed the game. It isn't too big of a spoiler, but to be safe it does contain info about the end of the game.
Ran into glitch with the game.

New Download Thursday!!!! Vampirism anyone?
Personally, my character is walking the straight and narrow, but I gotta tell you, this download sounds so stinkin' cool!!!
Here you go bloodsuckers.....
New Oblivion Download This Thursday
Bethesda announced today that the next download for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, the Vile Lair ($1.89), will be available for download on Xbox Live this Thursday, July 13th. Here's a description for the download:
One of the most notorious vampires of times long past, Greywyn Blenwyth, had joined the Dark Brotherhood with the intention of one day converting all of his fellow brethren into his kind. He realized that although vampires are accepted within the ranks of the Dark Brotherhood, the notion that it could be a future requirement could anger existing members or possibly dissuade others from joining its ranks. By carefully forging an alliance with several key members of the Dark Brotherhood at the time, Greywyn was confident he could either sway the rest of the members into adopting his ways, or dispatching those that didn't.
He spent the better part of a year "turning" opponents to his side, and using his allies to rid the Dark Brotherhood of the others.
He dubbed his splinter faction The Crimson Scars; a name derived from the unusually vicious neck lacerations left by his assassins and their jagged blades. The final turning point in Greywyn's dark plan called for the swift execution of the current upper echelon of the Dark Brotherhood in one massive, cautiously executed strike. Unbeknownst to Greywyn, one of the members he had turned, a Dunmer named Silarian, was not enamored by the thought of his newfound vampiric power, as it came with too high a price. By informing the Black Hand of the Dark Brotherhood of Greywyn's upcoming betrayal, Silarian was able to quell the rebellion before it started. The second purification in the history of the Brotherhood was executed that night, and the entire sanctuary died in a sea of blood.
Greywyn somehow escaped the carnage and retreated to a cave he had discovered earlier in his travels, which he aptly named Deepscorn Hollow. From this lair, Greywyn, now alone, devised a way to bring his plan back to fruition. He sent messages across Cyrodiil, seeking those who would join his cause, but to no avail. Within the Hollow, he constructed a Shrine to Sithis and prayed for absolution and a way to bring his quashed dreams back to reality. Many a mortal died at the hands of Greywyn in the following days, all in an attempt to appease his Dark Master. Finally, his prayers were answered, but Sithis demanded a price. Sithis would approve of the Crimson Scars, only if Greywyn would renounce his vampiric ways and become mortal once again as a punishment for the betrayal of his brothers.
With a heavy heart, Greywyn labored to create a cure for the disease in his veins. Finally, a musty tome recovered from a ruined fort bore the answer: Purgeblood Salts. Greywyn spent months roaming the land gathering the ingredients he needed to complete the salts and to refine them properly. When all his preparations were complete, Greywyn approached the Shrine of Sithis for one last prayer. As he intoned the first verse of his dark prayer, he felt a piercing pain explode across his back. The Dark Brotherhood had finally tracked him down.
This underwater hideout provides your infamous character with safe haven. Those willingly inflicted (or shall we say graced?) with vampirism will find a means to feed, and if necessary, a means to cure their infliction. Hire evil minions, pray to the dark god Sithis, and a host of other functions await.
Features:
A multilevel lair for murderous players to find refuge
The Font of Renewal, where a player may purge himself of Vampirism
The Shrine of Sithis where the infamous player may heal and be cured of disease
A Dark Minion, who the player may employ to find gold in a most unseemly manner
A 'cattle pen' for vampires to dine
An indoor garden of venomous plants, including the notorious Chokeberry to feed to your enemy
Various furnishing upgrades, including a study room and storage area

I was trying to swear off buying any more downloads for Oblivion but holy crap is this not right up my character's alley. The DB quests were the best, another purification would be awesome, and i have been a vampire for probably 4/5 of the game.

I like Frostcrag Spire for the magic stuff available, and this sounds neat, too. I actually just did the cure for vampirism quest and cured myself.
It would be nice if this place included not just a cure for vampirism but also a way to make yourself a vampire again.

When I joined the Mages Guild, I decided to make a Soul Trap staff, just because it sounded cool I guess. So now I'm trying to close a bunch of Oblivion gates, and when I try to trap the souls of Xivilai (sp?), Spider Daedra, etc., it says I don't have a soul gem big enough to trap those souls. I have grand soul gems. Is there something larger, or are these souls untrappable?

Why is everyone in always in a bad mood? Every time I talk to someone they are jerks. When I finish the game and become powerful enough and going to walk around and kill everyone in Cryidill and pile the bodies in the middle of every town.
Also how do you kill ghosts? I"m on the quest where you have to help the ghost and go to his ship that wrecked on the mouth of the panther and get rid of the ghosts in hi s ship. I know weapons won't work but my flare magic isn't doing anything to them either.

You may need a black soul gem, because the are humanoid, I believe.

Your best bet is a silver weapon or a Daedric weapon. If you have a sword, use a dagger because you want a lot of quick hits on those ghost bastards.

Soul Strengths:
Petty Souls (150)
Stunted Scamp, Mudcrab, Rat, Deer, Dog, Goblin, Sheep, Skeleton, Slaughterfish, Wolf
Lesser Souls (300)
Scamp, Clannfear Runt, Skeleton Guardian, Ghost, Boar, Timber Wolf, Zombie, Troll, Goblin Skirmisher, Horse
Common Souls (800)
Flame Atronach, Black Bear, Mountain Lion, Headless Zombie, Ancient Ghost, Faded Wraith, Skeleton Hero, Spriggan, Minotaur, Will-o-the-Wisp, Clannfear, Goblin Berserker
Greater Souls (1200)
Spider Daedra, Skeleton Champion, Frost Atronach, Storm Atronach, Deranged Zombie, Brown Bear, Daedroth, Dread Zombie, Goblin Shaman, Land Dreugh, Nether Lich, Ogre, Wraith
Grand Souls (1600)
Kalperklan Troll, Xivilai, Minotaur Lord, Gloom Wraith, Undead Akaviri Soldier, Goblin Warlord, Savage Ogre, Lich, Tribe Goblins (e.g., the White Hand Goblins)
Black Souls (1600)
All Playable Race Humanoids (the ten races of Tamriel), Vampires (it's only a disease), True Daedra and Dremora, are considered NPCs with Black Souls, and can only be trapped using a Black Soul Gem.
--------------------------
Black Soul Gems
Regular Soul Gems can only trap creatures, not NPCs (note that some creatures, like Dremora, are actually classed as NPCs). Necromancy has researched the rituals necessary to create Black Soul Gems that are capable of trapping the souls of NPCs. The details of those rituals are described on the page describing Black Soul Gems (note: this contains spoilers). Once you have a filled Oblivion:Black Soul Gem, it is used exactly like a regular Soul Gem. A Black Soul Gem can hold as much as a Grand Soul Gem (1600), but it is much easier to fill since any humanoid is 1600 units!
Having Black Soul Gems in your possession will be considered evidence that you practice Necromancy. Although Necromancy is not illegal in Cyrodiil, the Mages Guild has banned Necromancy from the guild. Therefore, carrying Black Soul Gems may have negative consequences.
Azura's Star
The Azura's Star is essentially the most powerful Soul Gem in the game. Its quality is the same as a Grand Soul Gem, however it has infinite uses; it is not used up after enchanting or recharging. It can't however be turned into a Black Soul Gem, and thus can't hold NPC souls.
You'll find out about its sidequest during the main quest, but it is highly recommended to use a different artifact for the main quest, as Azura's star is simply too useful to give up.
Its main weakness is that there is no way to empty it without enchanting or refilling; if you happen to trap a weak creature such as a rat you'll need to empty it before you can capture bigger prey. This also means that when looking to enchant something unless you currently have very easy access to a creature which has a Grand Soul when trapped you will want to carry a Grand Soul Gem with you so that you can continue to use Azura's Star to power your equipment after catching a Grand soul for your enchanting purposes.
NOTE: Technically, the Azura's Star is a Grand Soul Gem. Souls will always go in the lowest value Soul Gem you have. The game does fill the Star before any empty Grand soul gems in most cases. This is not a worry for souls requiring Black Soul Gems; Azura's Star can only contain souls of strength up to Grand see below for more info.

Probably. I just downloaded the Vile Lair and got cured there. Easier than the quest for the cure.

Is there an easy way to make some money? I tried that Imperial City glitch in the guy's house, but everytime I do it, the guards are there immediately
Any advice on how to get some cash? Also, where do I get a Soul Trap spell?
