Windwaker was definitely a great game, especially the treasure fishing. I loved the stylized graphics. Somebody said they heard Twilight Princess would come with WW redone with the new graphics engine, and I said, "Why? Windwaker's graphics are meant to look the way they do. I could see no benefit in redoing them with the new engine. In fact, it would detract from the charm of the game." So I hope they don't do that.

I am glad I wasted my time reading the last 2 pages of people bitching and complaining about a gamecube game...
Perhaps the "No Console Bashing" rule should apply? I haven't been to this thread in a few days and saw it had 2 pages of new posts. It turned out to be 2 pages of garbage..
Focus people! Focus!!

Heh, anybody that felt Wind Waker was "childish" should just NOT be playing a Zelda game.. period. Go play Hip Hop Racing 8 or something. The only Zelda game to wander outside what Zelda has always been (at least as far as its "childish" theme) was Majora's Mask.. and now probably Twilight Princess since they've stated the game was made with a Western audience in mind (barf). Anybody that thought Ocarina of Time was "dark" or "mature" must have played a different game.. for God's sake it was practically A Link to the Past in 3D. I guess boring and drab colors make a game "adult" now.
I'll second the love for Metroid Prime. I don't hate FPS games, but I've never seen the reason behind a new one each and every month (and a new World War II FPS every two months) so the over saturation had made me ambivalent to the genre. That said, Metroid Prime is top to bottom, in and out every bit a Metroid game, no doubts, no questions. Hell, thanks to this board, when I finally gave the game a chance it is single-handedly responsible for me getting a Gamecube (though I was always considering it the moment the first "childish" Wind Waker screen was released) and got me back into gaming after a few years away from it. If you go in with a pompous negative demeanor because it's an FPS, you'll likely not detach yourself to that without seeing that game for what it truly is.

My final thought on the issue. WW wasn't necessarily childish, but more of a letdown. With each new entry into the franchise Link was getting more mature, almost aging with each title. After the huge success of OOT & MM, coupled with the notorious Spaceworld video, putting Link back at pre-school age was a miss for me. Link was aging with me as a gamer, WW just seemed like a step backward.
That's not to knock the game as it was great fun, just not the Zelda I was hoping for. TP seems to be back on track, and I'm looking forward to swinging my sword with my Revolution controller.

On a more serious note, solid new info may be coming Thursday:
Director of GDC says big things in store for Iwata keynote
March 21st, 2006
The guys at firingsquad got to talk with the director of GDC Jamil Moledin on what to expect out of the conference this year. A very interesting question and answer ends the interview.
FiringSquad: Finally, is there anything else you wish to say about GDC 2006?
Jamil Moledin: Yes, I would strongly recommend attending the two platform keynotes from Sony’s Phil Harrison and Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata. Trust me!
Further proof that Mr. Moledin knows what he is talking about is provided earlier in the article. Mr. Moledin states that himself and his staff must know the contents of the speeches beforehand for many various reasons. Jamil knows what both Sony and Nintendo’s keynotes are about, and he is letting us know that there should be some great info involved.

Every time i hear people talk about wanting to take Zelda in a "darker" more "mature" direction i think of the piece of crap the sequel to Prince of Persia: Sands of Time was when they went in that direction.

You mean it's not going to be called the Revolution? That's a shame. I thought it was great, and entirely in line with what they're trying to do with the system.

Dolphin was the codename for Cube. There's a lot of dolphin references in the Mario games apparently. Delfino is Italian for dolphin, I know that much. There are a lot of dolphin shapes in Mario Golf. There's probably a list of all of them somewhere.

Dammit. That better be Go as in "5" and not the actual name. What's wrong with Revolution or simply Nintendo. You want to regain the name recognition they had with the NES? That is, video games = Nintendo, then get away from this every system has it's own unique name mindset.
Playstation = video games today in the public's eye. That's why they're called the PS2 and PS3. Not the Sony Flapjacker and Leap.
