Hey, Wiggy--what's up with all the N-hate?

Cool ideas indeed. That's the great thing about the controller. It's innovative in itself, but having the attacments opens up nearly endless possibilities.

True, but there have been add-on controllers for systems dating back to the NES, most with little success due to exclusivity. However, having that special controller for even one great game usually makes it worth it.. so I guess there's two sides to it. However, being able to incorporate things into the controller could make certain attachments more appealing to developers but you venture into the area of developers being wary to create games for something the user may or may not have.. hmm.

Yeah, I'm envisioning it more as Nintendo packing in attachments with games. I don't expect a lot of support from other developers. Kind of like the bongos, controller for one game, then maybe another couple games that use it sold with or without that attachment.

At any rate I'll be buying the revolution knowing 90% of the games worth playing will be from Nintendo, and I'm fine with that as I enjoy them the most and only have a time and interest for a handful of games a year anymore anyway. Plus the downloads make it worth the purchase on their own.

Yes, but consider the Xbox sold a $200 controller well enough to warrant a sequel for the game it was designed for. If done right they can succeed.

The gun looks pretty cool. Neat idea.

Everything looks good so far, but I'll be cursing Nintendo as I connect the S-Video cable to my HDTV.

The Revolution will have compenent outputs and the very least will support 480P.

IGN claims that Nintendo is still debating on HDTV support and that developers have recieved information indicated 720P support is likely.

Cool! Good news. Now if I could rationalize buying an HDTV just for gaming. Um, guess not.

But that's still $200 for a controller that essentially works for two games. A bit rich for most people. I think the add-ons will need to be cost-effective and be at least moderately supported for it to be a successful idea. Also, too many add-ons could saturate the market/idea. I think Nintendo should oversee and organize all controller add-ons to make it as successful as it could be. Just some random thoughts..

Well yeah, but my point is that if they can push a $200 controller on only two games a $40 one doesn't sound so bad.

If they can pack in bongos with a game and sell it for $50, I see no reason they can't with attachments.

Far from it: I want Nintendo to go balls-out crazy with the Revolution and make it as innovative/interesting/unique/whatever as possible. This could be the most exciting thing to hit gaming in a long time; I don't want Nintendo to lose the forest in the trees with concessions to the overwhelmingly worthless, IMO, third-party developers out there.

Haven't read the thread, so this is probably a topic already discussed - but I was watching TGS coverage on G4 and they interviewed someone from nintendo. When asked about the graphics horsepower of the Revolution compared to the competition, he said that when it they are all plugged into a television, you won't be able to tell much difference.

Well, there are no official complete specs for the Revolution, and I don't think for the PS3 either so I don't know how truthful that would be.

That was Iwata, the preseident of Nintendo. And not to nit-pick, but he said standard television. They seems to promote the idea that the revolution will over the same level of graphical detail, but not at higher resolution.

Some more concept art of potential charging stations:

Concept by Tim Forbrook (Paladin69, IGN Boards)

Nothing special, but thought I figured someone out there might have missed it and find it interesting.

That would be interesting, (charging stations) but the controller's expansion port, would have to be able to handle the electrical power. I am not sure that they are currently wired to do that.

That's what I was thinking, kind of like how most mp3 players like the iPod are charged through the USB cable, I think you could just put a cable in the expansion port on the controller and plug it into the console, speculating of course.
