MLB 2K6 (XBox, PS2, X360)

I just got MLB 2K6 today for my XBox. About to pop it in now. Reading through the instruction manual, this game is deep.

Anyone else get this today? I know it shipped for XBox and PS2, the XBox 360 version comes out later this month.

Okay, I've played it for two hours, and I can only say one thing...

STAY AWAY.

This game is terrible. The graphics are HORRID. The gameplay is stiff and just plain bad. I love baseball, but I'm selling this ASAP and I guess I'll have to pick up The Show for PS2. Seriously...stay away.

Everytime I've had someone on third base against me, I've thrown a wild pitch. Five times now. Happened to my friends too. Must be some kind of glitch.

Ugh.

I've only played one game (spent way too much creating players and making trades in my franchise) but noticed quite a few glitches. The framerate is pretty spotty in parts and the graphics are even worse than last years. Also, when you are running or in the field your player number will disappear. Its not a big deal but just a little thing that was bugging me.

I won my game 1-0 after I had a guy on third who didn't run home on a potential double play ball hit to short. The runner beat the throw to first and I scored on a wild pitch. Just like last year. Yeecchh.

I'll give it a few more shots. Should have rented it first.

Reading that 2K6 isn't that good is the last thing I want to see. I hope the 360 version is better. I'll get it regardless.

EB Games, Gamestop, and Amazon.com all now list this as coming out April 10th. Awesome

Thanks for the heads up. I had some hope after the review at team xbox gave it an 8.3 or something, but apparently the same kinds of glitches that made last year's offering so disappointing are still there. I guess I'll look into The Show for PS2 instead.

I picked up 2k6 for PS2 Tuesday. The graphics are not improved...similar to last year's. Control-wise I changed the controls to "Classic Controls" and tweaked the Pitcher/Hitter Settings to resemble the gameplay from last year's game. This seems to work better for me. The glitch on passed balls should have been fixed. For example, I was playing the Brewers/Padres and I moved Ryan Klesko to 1B before the game, the default lineup had him in LF. The Padres made 5 throwing errors to 1B. In reality Klesko does platoon between the OF and 1B but here he couldn't catch hardly anything. I'm playing on Pro difficulty because Rookie is like taking batting practice and pitching no hitters. Overall I'll keep the game and adjust accordingly. It's not bad, but I've seen better.

This just does not bode well for my 360 hopes. Maybe they'll pull a Fight Night and put all their resources into the 360 and let the others slide a bit (fingers crossed).

I hope the 360 version is better. I think the rosters were a bit moer updated in this version...not sure if that means anything. I've read mixed reviews, but seems to be ok. I guess the BIG complaint is the running system...I guess there is a TURBO button, which seems lame, I may turn that off. Apparentyl one guy will haul ass, but others on base will run slower....shouldn't you run your hardest on EVERY play...sheesh.

Graphics are horrible. I thought the graphics for the Show on PS2 were bad, but this one takes the cake. I haven't gotten used to the swing stick yet, but starting to get used to pitching. Hopefully all this will come before the 360 version comes out so that I can start one with a little experience.

Have any of you also played EA Sports MVP Baseball 2005 (Manny Ramirez on the cover)???

Just wondering how MLB 2K6 compares to this one since I played the hell outta MVP 2005 and enjoyed it on the xbox.

I have MVP for my PC and liked it quite a bit. If you have MVP 05, keep it and just update the rosters or something. 2K6 is garbage.

I'll get it for the 360 since that's the only choice we got and I really want a baseball game badly.

Boy I hope that the 360 version doesn't have all of these problems. I also had hoped that it would have next gen graphics, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen if the regular X-Box graphics are terrible. I'm going to hold off on this one until I read more reviews.

Well, I gave MLB2K6 another chance, after letting it sit for a few days. I started a franchise with the Pirates...

In my first game, I hit a grounder into the gap with Sean Casey. The Brewers CF ran after it, hit the wall and fell down when he hit the wall. Casey...yes, Sean Casey, got an inside the park homer. I laughed, but kept playing.

Chris Duffy, with a man on first, hits a double. He slides into second, Jack Wilson stops at third. Once the Brewers second baseman catches the ball, Duffy all of a sudden decides, "I want to go for the triple". So he unexplicably starts running to third, where Wilson is. The Brewers second baseman throws it to third, and Duffy stops between second and third. The third baseman does nothing, and neither does Duffy. It's a stand off. I went and got a soda, the players are still in their same positions. Finally I just pressed a button so they'd get Duffy out. Ridiculous.

Then the game froze when I stole a base. I took it out and it's on my counter, ready to be traded in at gamestop.

Fuck this game. It's ludacris to think someone would release a game this bad.

i'm holding out hope that the 360 doesn't have as many problems. I guess we will know in a few more days.
