Too bad I have to work over today for a few hours. :( |
a little help for a Quake 4 newbie?
ok, so Quake 4 is annoying the crap out of me here. I am stuck way too early in this game. I'm only at the beginning of the game. I'm at Checkpoint 1 MCC Landing Site and I'm trying to find the way to open the locked door. I have been running around in this damn maze forever it seems and all I find is a closed door or another door which is open but I can't get through because of some crates that are blocking it. I have tried to jump over them but its like there is an invisible wall there or something. can anyone help a dummy get past this part? thanks. the line starts to the left to laugh and make fun off me by the way. :) |

Gamefaqs has a couple of guides for the PC version, which should be the same. Assuming you're at the "capture the cannon" part, it looks like you have to climb up the boxes, get to the roof, kill a Medic and drop down to where he came from to open the door. |

I finally got it. the bad part is the fact that I tried climbing the boxes about 5 times before I posted too and could never get it so I just figured that wasn't it. stupid me. |

On another note, does anyone know if you can plug an external hard drive such as a Maxtor or SeaGate 200GB into the Xbox 360 USB port and have it play the music on the drive? I searched but didn't have much luck. If its possible, I'm thinking of using that set-up as my stereo since I can have all my music in a compact place. If you have had success with this set-up can you please post the model number of your drive? |

hakihara1 is correct, it must be fat32 format. |
So, anyone having issues with NHL 2K6 and freezing in franchise mode? Basically, after you finish a game it goes to the loading screen and the dots just scroll....never progresses. I looked at 2ksports.com forums, and it seems to be widespread. Bad thing is, I was about 30 games in my franchise and it started to happen.

Astro Pop Feeding Frenzy Jewel Quest If you check out Xbox's Arcade page they are listed as recent additions. |
For those of us who've yet to play CoD2, a new demo has been posted.
331.11 MB - Single player only (So I hear.) |

Xbox Live business model must change, says Arena.net founder Rob Fahey 08:30 24/02/2006 Discussions needed before MMOs can head to consoles, says Guild Wars creator Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz this week, Guild Wars developer Arena.net co-founder Jeff Strain has said that the business model used by Microsoft's Xbox Live service needs to be overhauled before the service will be attractive to MMOG developers. Strain, who was a senior developer at Blizzard before leaving to set up Arena.net, believes that the business model used by Xbox Live is fundamentally not designed for the close relationships MMOG operators require with their players and community. "Their whole goal is to encourage people to go and buy games on the shelf, then there's an online component for it," he explained. "But for us, when you buy it on the shelf, that's just the beginning of our relationship with you - and we want a direct connection with our customer so that we're always giving you new content, always supporting you directly. Xbox Live just wasn't really built, from a business standpoint, to support that." Strain acknowledged that seeking to take the customer relationship away from the platform holder and back into the hands of the publisher or developer would be a difficult thing to negotiate, but he remains optimistic that both Microsoft and Sony will embrace the opportunity represented by the MMO market. "They know it's in their best interests to attract the top developers to develop for the console, and they know that that's going to take some business model changes," he told us. "I think that what we're going to see is that once the dust settles from the launch of this round of consoles, they're going to be very willing to engage in those discussions." Strain was speaking in an exclusive interview with GamesIndustry.biz at a preview event in Munich for the upcoming Guild Wars Factions, the second title from Arena.net and the first of several "episodic" sequels to the million-selling Guild Wars. The full text of the interview is available on the site today. His comments come a few months after the president of Korean MMOG giant and Guild Wars publisher NCsoft, TJ Kim, revealed to this site that his company is already working on titles for next-generation console platforms - but at the time, sources close to the company's European division were adamant that Xbox 360 was not among the platforms being targeted to begin with. Strain's perspective on the business model issue may cast new light on why that was the case - with the control of the customer relationship being a possible stumbling block in any negotiations between NCsoft and Microsoft. Although the possibility of MMOG titles appearing on Xbox 360 has been enthusiastically championed by Microsoft on a number of occasions, so far the only such title confirmed for launch on the platform is a port of Square Enix' PS2 and PC massively multiplayer title, Final Fantasy XI. I don't really understand what he means by having a "direct relationship with the customer"... is it because Microsoft owns all LIVE servers or something, so it's not easy for them to tinker with the code to send out updates? Wait, isn't FFXI going to be run off of Square's own servers, so that Xbox360 players can coexist with the existing community?
Of course, FFXI's Playonline interface, on top of having to login to Xbox Live, is clunky as it is. |
Woo Hoo, I just got my 60" HDTV back from being serviced (almost 3 weeks) and the whole ordeal started about 2 months ago. But I'm glad I paid $300 for a 4 year extended warranty back in Nov 2002.
Now I can finally see my XBox 360 games in HD, which before now I couldn't because the red input of the component in wasn't working and they had to change the HOP board. It's been frustrating for me and the kids around the hood not having my tv and being able to play the 360. I think I will celebrate and buy my 2nd 360 game this weekend (used of course from Game Rush). Chris |

Of course, FFXI's Playonline interface, on top of having to login to Xbox Live, is clunky as it is. To play MMORPGs 360 owners will need to pay 3 different fees. ISP, XBox Live, and the MMORPG-operators. XBox Live is another middleman that PC gamers don't need to pay. It makes the 360 less appealing. |

Sure you can buy from the marketplace, but there are no additional fees for online gaming. Very similar to paying an ISP for access to the internet, but not willing to pay for access to individual sites.
