How much space would xbox1 games take up on your HD, though?

Isn't the rumor that a 60Gig drive will be released soon. That should hold quite a few.

Master Chief takes control of Xbox 360

Paul Loughrey 09:54 21/02/2006
Halo 2 multiplayer tops Xbox Live 'most played' list

Microsoft's director of programming for Xbox Live, Larry Hryb, has revealed the latest info on the most popular Xbox Live games for its next-generation console, with original Xbox title Halo 2 taking a prominent lead.

Bungie's multi-million selling title was a massive hit on the Xbox, and its multiplayer modes were a significant boost for the online Xbox Live service, attracting a wealth of new subscribers signing up to compete against other gamers around the world.

The title is one of the select few games that are fully back-compatible with the new Xbox 360 console, and Bungie has also updated the title a little, adding a few graphical tweaks to enhance the experience for those with an HDTV.

The second most popular Live game at the moment is Activision's Call of Duty 2, followed by Rare's launch title, Perfect Dark Zero. Both, like the current crown holder Halo 2, fall into the first-person shooter genre, which has traditionally commanded a significant amount of time spent online in death-match and massive team-based skirmishes.

Tecmo's Dead or Alive 4, which jumped straight into the top of the all-format sales charts on its release, before being pushed out of the top by EA's Need for Speed: Most Wanted, is steadily building a strong multiplayer presence and increases in the retail supply of Microsoft's console has improved the attachment rate for the title, which could climb the popularity ranks further in the coming weeks.

Project Gotham Racing 3, despite losing out to Need for Speed in the software sales chart, is currently performing better than its EA arcade style rival, nestling in at fifth place while Need for Speed Most Wanted tails behind in sixth.

Seventh place goes to another Xbox original, with Battlefield 2: Modern Combat holding its own in the next-gen arena. Madden NFL 06 is at number eight, followed by Xbox Live Arcade title Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved - the first Xbox Live Arcade title to enter the most-played list.

2K Sports, a division of Take-Two, creeps into tenth with its NBA 2K6 game, though with a number of new releases and a rapidly improving customer base thanks to renewed hardware supplies at retail, the most popular online games look likely to change pretty quickly in the coming weeks.

I picked up Fight Night Round 3 today and if anyone is wondering, it is way better than the demo.

Cardiff Giant11 02-21-06 04:29 PM

Honestly as far as I'm concerned, right now the best XBox Live game 360 or otherwise is Halo 2. I play Perfect Dark Zero but I still think Halo 2 is the best of the bunch. I'll have to check out Fight Night, the demo was pretty good.

I would have bought it if the Burger King was playable, but I'll just rent it when Hollywood Video gets it on Friday.

No beating of the King = No sale.

A 60 gig drive isn't enough, trust me.

kakihara1 02-22-06 07:08 AM

Oh I don't doubt you dave, especially considering the rediculous number of huge drives I have full on my PC. But the fact that they are making a 60gig drive does at least show that they are going to make bigger drives and 60gig will hold quite a few Xbox games.

I wish they had gone with a standard 3.5" drive instead of the 2.5" notebook drive. The size to price ratio is rediculous on notebook drives.

I doubt it will be long before there is an adapter to use any external drive you want on the HDD slot.

That would be the best way to go, but MS won't make any money on people buying Maxtor(insert brand here) external drives. I don't see it happening. There is too much money to be made selling accessories.

I was thinking more along the lines of Lik-Sang selling something ;)

Canis Firebrand 02-22-06 12:22 PM

I just want an adapter that will let me use my old headset and have volume control and muting. I hate the 360 headset. I want to use my old green Halo 2 headset.

Although I would love for that to be the case it seems unlikely at this point. People have been trying to put a bigger hard drive into it since launch, but they haven't been able to get it to recognize it. They have no problems connecting a hard drive or even copying the file system, but it's still not recognizing it.

tenaciousdave 02-22-06 04:56 PM

There's an Oblivion trailer up on the marketplace.

Downloading now...

*Update*

Wow, the screenshots really don't do this game justice. It's gorgeous.

MasterofDVD 02-22-06 11:04 PM

This system has it out for me. First I can't stream media off my PC so that gives me an excuse to buy an iPod.

Now the past few days have brought another fun problem. I can be on LIVE and see friends on LIVE.....but I rarely can join a game. I keep getting errors in PDO and COD2. The CS at the XBOX number had me run a test and it checked out OK so he had me call my ISP. My ISP says things for the most part look OK but they have agreed to give me a new modem since the one I've had for the past few years is slowly starting to be replaced due to some problems and its general age.

I played one game on LIVE just fine tonight and then when playing a Dark Ops game I lost connection and got booted from the game....but during all these problems I don't get kicked off of LIVE.

72 Hours of Free Xbox Live Gold on the weekend of April 1st.

Mr. Cinema 02-23-06 09:10 AM

My free Gold membership is about to run out. I plan on buying a 12-month kit, but in my email I got from XBL about signing up, it said after the month plan ends, I can renew for as little as $4 per month. I thought it was about $6 or $7 on a per month basis. Can anyone confirm?

Looks like Gold renewals are only $49.99 vs. the initial $69.99 "kit" price. At $49.99 it works out to $4.16 a month.

If you go the $70 route you get:

Become a member of the Xbox 360 Live community. This pack provides you with a 12-month subscription and an Xbox 360 Headset.

You will also receive a free Xarcade game (Billiards), a $20 game rebate and 200 Marketplace points. Enjoy great times with people across the street and around the world.
An extra headset, the most expensive arcade game free, and 200 free points. Not only that you get the extra $20 you pay back as a discount off a game purchase. Sounds like a hell of a deal.

Just a week ago my subscription ran out, I didn't know it was going to because I've been paying for this shit monthly for like three years but hey WTFE. So my only choice was to keep my gamertag and pay $49.99 or go buy a kit, I decided screw the kit (instant=better) entered my info and I hit the ground running again. What I'm wondering is why my account would expire now? Is it because of the 360 they changed pricing or something?

Mr. Cinema 02-23-06 09:36 AM

I have $45 in Reward Zone certificates. I think I'll use those on the kit rather than a game....which will make that deal even better. also, I believe the kit comes with an extra month free, just like the regular 12-month card.

That $4 per month is a teaser to get you to renew. Computer4sure still is having a sale on the complete Xbox live for $57. If you go with the $4 per month offer it comes to $48 for the year. If you go with the complete xbox live you get a $20 mir off your next 360 game, Xbox Live Arcade game: Bankshot Billiards, 200 Microsoft Points.
