Yes. It was very buggy from what I understand. There is a big thread on it over on the xbox forums.

If you do manage to snag the demo, don't get too hyped about it. I borrowed it from a friend last weekend. Beat it in under 6 hours. Zero replay value.

My thoughts:

Pros:
I'm playing on a 57" HDTV with 5.1 and that aspect is excellent. No game has ever scared me, but the first time you are distracting the T-Rex while Denom opens the door had my heart pumping. The surround sound adds to the effect. I think the big dinos look great. The level with the brachiosaurs walking through the canyon was amazing as well. The rapids level was also excellent.

Cons:
The game is VERY repetitive - borderline boring-repetitive
The levels are very linear despite the fact you are wandering around a jungle.
Camera issues while playing as Kong
Very easy

Other than Kong himself, this is the direction the Turok series should have maintained, dino hunting with a handful of weapons.

Supposedly there will be a Battlefield 2 demo in the next week or so. A multiplayer demo that is playable over live.

When you played as a human nothing happened, all you did was walk around. I guess dinosaures were suppossed to show up. I was walking around for 10 minutes having no clue what to do.

I still have 10GB myself, its just BS that out of a 20GB drive you can only use 13GB. I understand there will be loss, like any HDD out there, but that is nearly a 50% loss.

Considering DVR functions, I'm just saying the stock HDD is not feasible at all.

That 7gb is reserved for the ever glorious and continually impressive Backwards Compatability.

Well that explains why I couldn't figure out what to do. You'd think they could get a demo of a 3 month old game running properly though...

Running off wireless. Live works fine. On XP so I had to download that extender? file. thx

It's soooo depressing to walk into Gamestop, ask to see the list of upcoming 360 games, get the list and see all these great games........7 months or more away.

I ended up paying off my Burnout preorder. I also preordered, and paid off GR:AW. The clerk convinced me that if I was at all interested in the faceplate for The Outfit I should put some money down to reserve it so I put 10.00 down on it.

Looking at the list here, there are a lot of great games coming out over the next couple of months too. Fight Night R3, GRAW, Oblivion, Blazing Angels, Moto GP 2006, Saint's Row, and so on.

Anyone here get the $60 mail-in 2-year extended warranty direct from Microsoft? I sent my check in well over a month ago and it has been cashed by them, but I never received any notification or info in the mail like I was supposed to from Microsoft. Does it take this long to get confirmation?

Those bastards at EB and Gamestop are masters at getting you to blow money on preorders, everytime I do it I kick myself because I should be getting reward zone points but I preorder at EB and get nothing.

I don't know what's taking so long but I also wrote them a check and haven't gotten any confirmation. Hopefully if something goes wrong calling them will take care of it.

I ordered the warranty over the phone, but it did take a month to get the service contract paperwork from them.

Anyone know how to use the custom soundtrack feature for Geometry wars . I just purchsed it and see no option for a custom soundtrack when playing it?

Just press the "X-key" on your controller, pull up some music from the menu and let it play. There is no option to actually fire up a custom soundtrack from an in game menu on any X-box game, I believe.

What really sucks for me is that if I was patient I could save 10% on these games by using my wife's Wal-Mart discount card. The problem is Wal-Mart is always a few days behind. Normally I might be able to wait but I haven't bought a game since I picked up all my launch titles the night of launch.

Unfortunately that is true. All custome soundtracks simply play over the game. Unlike the original X-box feature, the Xbox 360 custom soundtracks even play over menus. Its the equivalent of having a stereo on when playing.

Unlike the Xbox though, the Xbox 360 supports custom soundtracks in EVERY game because it is implemented by the OS/dash rather than the individual game. The tradeoff of having the music play over menus--to the extent that is a problem, which IMO it isn't--is worth it.

RichC2 02-20-06 01:23 AM

Yeah, I think it's a good thing personally. I don't see any issue with music playing over the menus.

MasterofDVD 02-20-06 03:18 AM

I have no issues with the way custom music is done on the 360.

The only thing that bugs me is something I noticed tonight. I just got one of the 60GB video iPods and I hooked it to my 360 tonight to stream some music. When I went in to change the music it would have take a few moments and read all the info off the iPod. It would be nice that as long as the iPod hadn't been disconnected the 360 would read the tracks and retain that info until the unit was unplugged from the system. It's a minor issue.

I tried my iPod while playing Madden 360 and didn't like it.

I want it to be interactive with the game, i.e. change the song from the menu to the game, etc.

The way it works, I might as well play my iPod through the stereo at the same time.

jaeufraser 02-20-06 03:36 PM

I don't mind that the music plays straight through the game...it still integrates with the sound effects which is better than muting and playing music seperately.

My only beef with the Ipod thing is, for some reason, the shuffle is limited to 100 songs. They need to fix that.

I think MS just reserved 7 gigs for backwars compatability and other issues THEY might need it for. Yes, it seems a little overblown.

Anyways...rumors from the new EGM:
-F.E.A.R. will be coming to 360
-You will be able to download XBOX 1 games....not sure how that will work.
-Bungie will be releasing a XBOX Arcade game (Marathon possibly....who knows)

So is it known for a fact that when you d/l BC patches it doesn't eat up your 13GB partition and it goes directly to the 7GB partition? Just curious.

Didn't they also print rumors that the new Phantasy Star Online was coming to the 360 a few months after the PS2 release, and that you could port accounts over from your PS2 game to your 360? Always wondered why Sega would try to launch a new MMORPG on the PS2 in it's waning days, but this makes some sense.
