There was a rumor in the latest EGM that you may be able to D/L some XBOX games onto your HD. Nice concept, don't know how it'll work though since it would eat away your HD space.
I'm sure DirectTV would cost more, right? MS still has not fixed my LIVE connection either. They were supposed to cal me back Wednesday....just sucks. Hopefulyl they fix this. |
 Nice idea, but recording 1, I repeat ONE episode of lost will fill that 10GB drive. Tivo functionality seems pretty pointless with a 10gig drive.
Thanks for the info bus. Sounds odd to me, but I guess it makes sense for those that don't have a HDD. |
if you could use any external usb hdd to do the dvr functions it would be ok with me.

When we record over the air HD on our media center, an hour show is about 9gb. |

What is VC-1?
If you can use any brand external HDD then this is a sweet idea. |
VC-1 is the video codec that Microsoft's using for the movie trailers that are up now.
I don't know what filesize/bitrate Microsoft's using for the trailers that are up now without having the 360 in front of me, but using the HD trailers on Apple's site as a baseline (which probably aren't far off), a half-hour show without commercials (so, 22 minutes) would be around a gig at 720p and around 1.7 gigs at 1080p. An hour show without commercials (around 44 minutes) would be right at 1.9 gigs at 720p and around 3.4 gigs at 1080p. The quality would be a little compromised to make it easy to download, but it should still look really good, and the download time isn't that obscene. |
Wouldn't it be possible for them to stream everything? That's what I figured they were doing -- just streaming it.

Yeah, MS FINALLY called my back about my 360 not being able to connect to LIVE. I have to send it back AGAIN, but I get a FREE wireless controller and 1 month added back to LIVE.

In my case I haven't been able to play my XBox 360 for almost 2 weeks, because I have had my 60" HDTV out for repairs and it's killing me and the kids around the 'hood' not being able to play the XBox Live Arcade games. :( Chris |

Chris It would be different if that 7GB was able to be used. |

I still have all the preloaded stuff on my hard drive, along with more songs, most of the game demos available, 5 arcade games, and the Mission Impossible 3 trailor and I still have 7GB left. I don't see how people are filling up there hard drives already. Unless they have a ton of songs on it I guess.

What junk should be deleted to free up space on the HDD?

I still have 10GB myself, its just BS that out of a 20GB drive you can only use 13GB. I understand there will be loss, like any HDD out there, but that is nearly a 50% loss. Considering DVR functions, I'm just saying the stock HDD is not feasible at all. |

When I bought the HDD, and noticed all that stuff on there, I thought I had gotten one that someone had returned and forgot to delete all their crap. I've deleted most of that stuff. I'm at 13 gb, so I guess that's it. |

so I'm playing Full Auto and am in the middle of a race and the system just locked up. I had to force a shutdown from the power button on the box itself since the remote was useless. I hope it was a fluke. :nervous shaking:
