I Don't like the idea of having to pay for stuff, but I really like the idea of the added missions/merchandise, it has limitless possibilities!

Anyone else do this?
I would jack all the books in the Mage Guild libaries and sell them to the local shops just to make an extra buck. Probably wasting my time here since I'll probably have more gold than I need by going straight to the quests.

Thank you to FLASHBURN and to RABBIT...
I actually figured it out myself. I walked up to one of those shrine things that normally have a flame coming up through the center of it. This paticular one had no flame, but I hit the x button anyways and something happened cause when I checked my attributes they were all in the blue again, and not only that one of my attributes (not one of the ones that was previously red, a totally different one) turned GREEN! I have no idea what that means, but its gotta be better than red!!!
FLASHBURN- I tried the church idea of yours, but it said "you were already blessed today" and that was one of if not the FIRST time i ever walked into a church in the game.
BTW RABBIT, that flower story of yours was hillarious! I have been playing so much that I actually had a dream about the game the other night, which is extremely pathetic so this will be the last I speak of it

Not so much the books, but I go into the mages guild and fighters guild and take EVERYTHING that has a resale value to it and sell it. Its not stealing if you are a member, the red hand goes away.

I think that once your horse is dead, he's dead. My horse died while I was in a dungeon (no explanation how he died), so now I'm f-u-c-t unless I want to spend a lot of gold to buy another. You can't even steal one, because they always walk back to the stable.

Well, it looks like vampirism got the best of me. I must have missed the 3-day window to cure and now I'm a vampire. I thought I got cured at one of the chapels, but I guess not.
The quest for the cure looks pretty long too. I've only done about 6 hours into my second game. I think I'm just going to restart again. Thirty hours of playing time and I'm not having much luck so far. Deletion and vampirism.

My horse (well, the one on loan from the Blades) almost got turned into glue by some random monster before I could stop it. That was a few game days ago, and I recently noticed that it's health line is back at 100%.
I wonder if those spells that let you heal other characters would work on horses...

Then there are the Soul Gem. You can buy these (and find them) charged and uncharged. I think these are the best way to go. It took me awhile to figure out how to charge them myself (because I'm not too bright I think
). You have to cast the capture soul spell just before you kill the monster, and you have to have the right sized soul gem for the monster you're killing. The strategy guide's creature section lists the size of the stone you'll need. I think Petty souls will give you a 150 pt charge, lesser is 300, common is 800 and grand does 1600...that's from memory though, so don't quote me. Unlike the Varla stones, you get to select which item the Soul Gems charge, so you can decide which gem to use on which item and in which configuration. If you apply a gem with an 800 charge to a 500 max charge item, the balance is lost.
There are also things called weylkind stones (sp?) in those Aeylid Wells with the Varla stones. These stones refill you're magicka and then disappear. Very nice as your Magicka increases. And unlike Sorcery potions, they're free if you can find them. I've found them in two places so far and came out with about 20 from each place, so they're usually availble in pretty decent quanitites if you can find them. Just east (and across the river) from the Imperial City is Vilveran. It has the Weylkind and Varla stones in it.
FYI, these items seem to regenerate if you let enough time pass. Vilveran was the first dungeon I did and I tried going back recently and I was finding Weylkind stones again. Couldn't get far enough to see if the Varla Stone was still there (headless zombies were killing me too easily so I decided to get better spells/weapons and try again later.

Man this game is just fantastic. I stopped with the main quest after closing the 1st oblivian gate. I did the vampire sidequest and just finished the DarkBrotherhood missions in about 17 hours of gameplay. That's longer than 80% of all games out nowadays and I havent even scratched the surface. Wow.

They killed me multiple times. Finally I decided to just run like a wuss out of the ship to heal myself, but the damned things followed me. Lucky for me though, the lady that asked me to go into the ship started fighting the ghosts with me, as did the rest of the town people that were on the dock. Even though the ghosts pretty much ignored them and continued to come after me, the town people weakened them enough so that only a few sword slashes were needed to finish the job.

Those ghosts were a pain. I found a choke point in the first level of the boat (they can't seem to go through the door into the room where the first ghost comes from) and managed to fireball them to death from there while dodging their ranged attacks. I'm still using the sword I got from that mission. I really need to get a better sword.

One thing I did (based on something some one posted here earlier) was take a full set of alchemical gear from the mage guild after signing up and making potions to sell. You can find crops near some farmhouses that I think you can take without it being considered stealing and make a bunch of potions and sell them for gold. It's not big bucks, but I'm sure it's more than selling books!

I ran out of lockpicks!
I'd rather learn the open lock spells. Which is why I've decided to tackle the mage guild quest now. I'm saving the stealing for when I get to the town the TG authorized fence is in.
And for the person above who said they open locks manually, that's really impressive because I have no idea how you manage to do that! I ended up reloading after the 4 lockpicks I had left broke until I was able to open the "average" lock on a box somewhere.

You have to click the lock in place as it goes up (NOT down); you have to wait for the time when the lock goes up slower and makes a "click click" sound (it's random). But experiment pushing up locks and you'll notice it. Now I only break locks when distracted. I can almost do it with my eyes closed just listening to the "double click" and immediately locking it in place

Oh and sorry if this is a double post, did not want to read all 25 pages of the thread again

The quest for the cure really isn't as bad as people make it out to be. I did the cure quest and gave it to the count. I have my one dose if I ever want to cure myself. But so far, it has been fun being a vampire.
