If you go with Amazon, be prepared to buy a $1000 bundle with lots of games and shit you don't want.

Best Buy employees will not be allowed to buy them, but they can wait in line like everyone else.

That's good to hear about BB then. I guess the guy I heard is going to be upset when he realizes he can't get 5!

True about Amazon. But they also sell just the system. But I'm sure they are only going to start selling those once they can get rid of as many bundles as possible. The bundle I got was not $1000 though, it was $799. Still, not that big of a difference.

I'm sure they have tons and tons of those bundles, I wouldn't expect to see them sell the system standalone until after Xmas, and if they do, they'll be gone within seconds.

I got it on December 1st. They had it up for about 2 minutes and I just got lucky because I was watching one of those tracker sites. I know that Amazon has also had some more up for order since that date. Oh, and it ships right away because mine arrived today. They don't make you wait for 2 weeks like JC Penny was trying to do.

How did you "watch" the tracker sites? They've been useless for me so far. My RSS reader only updates every 5 minutes and I don't have the time to refresh it all day.

I had it up and noticed that instead of saying "out of stock" next to the bundle I got, it said somthing like "timed out", or "error". So I thought that was wierd and clicked on it, and to my surprise it said that the bundle was in stock. So I ordered it. Just a matter of luck really.

While I was watching the page it said those things numerous times, however, none were ever in stock. You got really lucky!

Yes, those errors really mean nothing. Pure luck.

So how are you enjoying your system, G.P.? Do you think it's worth all this craziness?

I got excited, but the tracker is wrong. Everyone that says in stock is actually sold out.

I think employees should be able to buy the system, but they should make them buy them off the clock. If Joe Schmoe is working in the electronics department at Target, and 10 360's come fresh off the truck, he shouldn't be allowed to buy one if he just happened to be working that day. No taking a break to buy it, either, it's just not fair. I wonder if Target is getting nasty emails about this.

If he came by on his own time, and got lucky when a shipment arrived, maybe I can see how he should be able to buy one.

http://xbox.clambert.org/ says that the Amazon bundles are all in stock. They are not though.

Getting ready to leave for Target in a few minutes. If I strike out today I am calling it quits.

We have been talking mega-stores, but what about the Electronics boutiques, the EM games and such. Will they be gettingmore shipments, or is the majotiry going to the big box stores? would assume most would be oing to fill pro-orders, but are they arriving at all?

Don't even waste time trying to go to EB/GameStop/Etc.. they are all about the preorders. If you didn't pre-order, you won't get one there for a very long time. They are still working through their pre-orders as they get in small shipments.

I asked one day as I am keeping an eye out for a second system for my roommate. I was told that unless I preordered when they first started taking preorders that it would be some time before they sell to joe customer that just walks in off the street.

Best bets are to look at the big box stores or online.

Yep. You are right, now backorder.

Are folks looking for these? If so, I'll keep posting when I see them available...

I checked with the local Walmart today ( central NY ) and they don't even have any 360 games on display , just a few of the accessories.

I'd be p*ssed if I was lucky enough to get the console at launch and now I couldn't find any games locally.

A local Walmart here was pulling all of their 360 items, even the display console. They hinted at a relaunch next weekend. Stupid crap!!! I have some WM giftcards and I was going to pick up a game in advance, but I guess I have to wait on that too.
