Mine is on a UPS truck... somewhere in town. I'm stuck at work anyway... so hopefully I can time it so I get home as the truck pulls up.

I'm hyped... I've never gotten a console at launch before, which is odd considering I've been a gamer since the 2600.

People got mcdonalds and dunkin d's delivered.

People are getting angry because there are over 100 people here and there wont be enough for everyone. People are asking management why they didnt tell them last night so they didnt have to wait.

I ended up having to find another place to put my 360 after a few hours of gaming. The volume of the thing where it was sitting was more than I could take. How could something this noisy make it out to the public? I can handle bulky more than I can have noisy. I thought their design was an improvement over the old XBOX but now I'm not so sure.

I didn't play that many next-gen games tonight. I mean that in a few ways. I was so busy setting up the system and messing around with things that I just lacked any time. I did play some arcade games and had a ball with them. I did play some Tiger Woods and Perfect Dark. Character models on both games left a bit to be desired. Tiger is just way too different in terms of gameplay and it is throwing me off. PD0 is pretty fun but I think once I am done with the story I am probably never going to replay it and I'll stick to games over Live.

I'm going to tackle COD2 when I wake back up. I want it to be an intense and loud experience.

Hmmm ... $1000 cash in a dark parking lot. Sounds like a good opportunity to get rid of some counterfeit money with few worries ....

Success! After being discouraged by the tremendously long lines at Best Buy and Circuit City at 2 a.m. this morning, I headed to Target. The line was 3 people deep.

At about 7 a.m., the manangers passed out numbers, 1 though 10 for all the consoles. Let me tell you, 40 people left royaly pissed! I scored a ticket and headed to Chick Fila for breakfast and some much needed coffee. I'm going to take a long nap now and play some 360 later. Hope to see some of you out there later!

Picked up mine at Sam's Club this morning. Mgmt was kind enough to let us in at 6am and buy the system. They opened at 7am for biz members. Checked Target, comp, cc, and bb before i settled and bb had a line of 70+ and they were getting 56 prems. Target had people in their cars and comp had a line of about 10 for a rumored 3 systems. CC had 2 or 3 people in line as well. What surprised me was that there wasn't many people in line at Sam's. They had 20 and didn't start to fill up until around 4:30, 5am. They handed out tix and we were on our way. Once all 20 buyers had tickets, they locked the front door for people to come in and check it out.

Unbelievable. This morning I go to FYE in Rockefeller Center, wait for 30 minutes and manage to get into one of the spots. Wait forever inside -- they said we had to buy two games, plus they only had core systems -- and finally, after another hour, get up to buy mine. The manager takes my credit card and comes back a few minutes later and says it was declined. I say that's impossible, and ask if I can call my credit card company. "We're too busy," he says. So I come in to the office and call them to see what's up. Ends up they declined it because the guy tried charging it THREE TIMES even though the first one took. They thought that the charges were unauthorized. I just called to complain and the manager would hear none of it. I think a call to TWEC corporate is in order.

I went to Best Buy this morning to get the new Rush live CD/DVD and see a line going towards the video game dept. I ask the last guy in line if they have any more (I was pretty sure they didn't since it was 9:30), and he said they only got 56 in and all the tickets were given out. Oh well, I wasn't in a big hurry to get it anyway. I'll get it eventually but was not going to wait outside in the cold rain all night to get one. After the last launch system I got (X-Box) with it's HUGE controller and ran super slow, i'd rather wait until they make the system better. Once my X-Box died and got a newer one, it ran so much faster and the controller was much better. Plus the games are going to get cheaper, so why get something that I really don't have to have? I'm happy with my X-Box

No luck for me at Target. I got there a 6 am and there were about 20 people in line. Half of those were there last night. They told me yesterday that they were getting 30 units. This morning they handed out 16 tickets and said that was all they had. The lady in front of me asked the manager when they knew how many they had and he said they got there shipment yesterday. She took his name and left pissed off.

I saw many systems going for over $1700 on ebay this morning. What a country.

Woot! After my Sam's Club online debacle I stopped by the physical store at 5:00am (with my Business Member card in hand). I was 18th in line. There were 20 premiums.

Boo Yah! Too bad I'm stuck at work today

just got back from picking mine up. there were only 3 people there to pick theirs up at open. I was in/out in about 2 minutes. I went to Best Buy afterwards to get WOTW and was talking to the guy in the game department. he said they sold out their 45 systems in a matter of minutes.

(warning: long)Well, against my better judgment, I went to the shittiest Best Buy in my area, and to no surprise got exceptionally shitty service. A lot of the other BB's in the area handed out vouchers at night so people wouldn't have to camp out overnight in 10 degree Michigan weather. But this one felt that they wouldn't go out of their way to help their customers. Why, you ask? Well, to quote the Dave Chappelle Popcopy skit "cuz F-ck 'em, that's why"

Anyway, the night manager from Monday night asked the first guy in line to add people to a list as they showed up overnight. Two employees confirmed they had 40 premium, 12 core (which confirmed what we had seen online for that store). I was 36th in line. Cool. So we waited overnight - spending most of the time in our cars which we pulled up next to the sidewalk. Morning comes and a different manager shows up and asks the first dude to line us up in order. So he does. Then an hour later the manager comes out and randomly passes out the vouchers, basically ignoring the line - we were somehow able to mostly police it ourselves, and prevent people from jumping in front, but then it turns out he has 30 premium vouchers and 10 core. I ended up with core voucher. So we go in and I hear the manager telling someone they got 40 "with the drive" 12 "without". So I asked him about the discrepency and he said well I gave out all the vouchers, 40 premium 12 core. I said "no, you gave out 30 premium 10 core", and pointed to the guy with the 30th voucher. He then says "like I said we got 30 premium 12 core". I then pointed out the guy who took the last voucher from his hand, labelled Core #10. He then says "well we had vouchers for everything" and leaves. I'm standing next to the girl at the computer terminal - so she looks it up and yes they have 40 premium. I again ask the manager, and he insists they have 30. I then say that I'm willing to go to the back of the line, let everybody else get theirs and turn in their voucher, if he would agree to upgrade me to premium if they have any "extra" left over after the 30 premium vouchers were used. He says no. We shared a glance that said "I know you're lying. You know I know you're lying, but it's plain to see you're just gonna be a d-ck about it just to prove a point that you're the boss".

So long story short. I ended up with a Core, only because I felt I had to buy something after waiting for almost 12 hours. I'm rationalizing, but it's not the end of the world for me. I was gonna buy a wired controller as my 2nd controller, since I rarely have anyone over to play, so I just bought a wireless instead and still ended up with one of each ($10 extra). The hard drive was $80 with the $20 off coupon, and I used the extra 20 to buy a headset (so even). Then I bought the HD cables from Pelican (extra $20). So I spent $30 extra for the things I need to make it sort of premium-like, skipping the other things that I wouldn't use anyway (media remote, ethernet cable, chrome plating, etc)

In summary, to paraphrase Daz at the 1995 Source Awards: "to the Southfield Michigan Best Buy and all its employees, from the bottom of my heart, eat a d-ck"

Yep, no luck for me today. So now I have start the long process of convincing myself that I didn't want one anyways, at least until I can purchase one without waiting 2 hours in the cold.

Got the call to get in line at 8pm... got there and it started raining... rained til 6am when they let us all in.

Got right in and out... and then down to EB to get my preorder.

So I am all good on the 360front. Went pretty smoothly. We had 54 systems and around 90+ people.

What madness. This makes me wonder why Microsoft even bothered with the cheap system when they obviously would have sold every premium system they put on shelves.

i have a core but I'm conflicted. I wanted a premium. So I want to sell this red headed stepchild core. But, odds are I wont get a premium for weeks. So what to do? I havent even taken it out of the box yet. Why did they even make the core version?
