Has there been a thread where there hasn't been a PC vs Video Game system argument?

Relax, there is no argument here. I was just stating my opinion. If you are willing to say something as bold as "Call of Duty should be on everybody's buy list", I should also be able to state why it isn't on mine.

I've seen COD2 on the Xbox 360 and graphically the only thing it seemed to have over the PC version was slightly sharper graphics, the textures still looked pretty low resolution.

That said, everyone has different tastes, and not everyone plays games on PC's anymore. I could see how if you haven't played COD 1 or 2 on the PC how it could be a pretty amazing experience, especially if the only FPS you have played recently is Halo.
It sure sounds like I need to upgrade my PC and play Call of Duty 2 because it seems that it would of been easier than getting a 360. Rarely any conversation about this game on 360 can be had before it's mentioned that the PC version was better and did it first. I'm not jumping on your back about your comments, I've just heard the same thing so many times over the past few months. COD2 is the one game making me feel real good about my 360 purchase and then PC gamers come wandering by and make me doubt all this money I spent.

I played Tiger until some unholy out this morning. I certainly like it a bit more. I mush of been tired and not thinking when I played it before because I was making some really dumb mistakes in the game. Now I am slowing building myself up. I told my friend NOT to get this game at first because it is so different but now I want him to play a powered up character to see what it's really like.

Why couldn't they spice up Hexic a bit more? They have that plain background and while the gameplay is kinda fun the overall experience lacks. Tetris Worlds had the background that change and move around a bit. I played a fair amount of Hexic last night and it fun but I'm wondering if I can have this much fun with any other Arcade download.

If you enjoy it, don't doubt your purchase at all! If I didn't already have a good computer, I would've picked up COD2 for the 360 in a heartbeat. I am sure it is worth it just to be able to play it on your couch and be immersed in the 5.1 sound.

I personally try to stick with FPS games on my PC (yeah, yeah, the whole mouse+keyboard thing), but I do enjoy some console-only FPS titles every now and then (like PDZ). I wouldn't be surprised if in the coming months I don't borrow a friends copy of COD2 just to check out what the home theatre experience is like with it.

I decided to get the 360 because of all the stuff I heard about Halo, and because I didn't want to spend $$$ on a new PC, but it's taking me some time to get used to the controller since I'm so used to the mouse/key

Played a little PDZ last night. Did the training mission and a bit of the deathmatch stuff against a couple bots. Man I suck!

It's too early for me to really comment on the game, but so far I did like the deathmatch play more than the mission I did.

After playing Battlezone2 on my very decent PC, Im very happy I got my 360 for the LIVE capabilities. If they can implement the gamer ranking and keep stupid kids from ruining games its well worth it.

Then compare it with another xbox360 game. Just sick of every thread going off topic with discussions of why pc > xbox or sony > msft etc.

When a system hosts a title that is already available on a comparable system, it would be stupid and ignorant not to compare the two.

I think most console gamers consider PC gaming a whole different circumstance though. This isn't like comparing versions on all the home consoles.

I generally consider PC gaming to be superior to consoles (with the right setup). However since I never play games on my PC, people telling me that the game I like was better a month ago on their PC means nothing to me.

People can consider them different, that is fine with me. Doesn't change the fact that if I own both a PC and a 360 I might be interested in playing the best version of the game rather then live in a vacuum.

lol, I wouldn't go so far as to call it "living in a vacuum"... that's a little extreme. It's not like we're talking about fullscreen vs. widescreen here.

I think its perfectly fitting. How would you choose to describe a situation where a consumer chooses to ignore and remove relavent facts about a purchase that naturally lends it self to direct comparison?

If the situation is one in which a PC is not a factor then what's the point of the comparison to them?

By the same token just because any single person doesn't care about console vs. PC comparisons doesn't mean that no one else will find them helpful.

Personally, I like hearing all the varied view points just because it takes my mind off the work I'm actually supposed to be doing!

I could care less about all the PC posts continually mentioning that it is far superior on the PC. Does that help me in any way? No. I'm not a PC gamer. Console gamers are a different ballgame, not all of them are into $2000+ PC systems that it takes to run the latest and greatest. That is like comparing customer service at Best Buy and customer service at the Gap. The cater different products to different demographics. One of those stores I'm never going to go into so hearing that it is superior means little to nothing. I just need to know that it takes full advantage of the system I DO have.

Ok, I played about 40 minutes of Condemned yesterday and it looks and sounds amazing. The graphics are just gorgeous. I think that the actual in game play looks much better than the cut scenes. This is a game you need surround for. It really puts you into the game. Strangely enough, kicking a bucket sounds the most real (and it kept freaking me out when I would be running and suddenly hear a bucket fall next to me). It's a pretty interesting game from what I've played of it. Seems somewhat linear (especially when you have to do the CSI stuff). I'm probably going to switch to PG0 just to find out what that's like.

Weird thing is, I downloaded some of the free game demos yesterday (Zuma, Bejeweled) just for fun, and they're the games that have blown me away the most so far. They look amazing in HD (on my projector). Better than my computer monitor. Everything is incredibly crisp and bright.

I got my rental copy of Gun today and it's easily the best game I have played yet. I was concerned about the graphics and figured this would just be a game to pass the time with but once I started playing everything just fell into place. The graphics aren't perfect but the gameplay is damn fun and I really wish I had bought this as one of my games.

Unfortunately, these high framerates are so smooth, I get minor headaches and nauseous if I play too long at once. Gotta pace myself (been a problem for me ever since Twisted Metal on PS1. The GTA games are the worse)

Anyway, as I suspected, NBA2K6 is more than a minor graphics upgrade over the XBox version. They fixed the AI so you can't simply repeatedly double-team the CPU to get back in the game. The CPU team actually shoots threes, as well, and plays realistically in crunch time. The added animations on offense are pretty nice as well (especially the reverse lay-up). And the graphics make you want to cry, they're so beautiful. I downloaded the demo of NBALive and it's no contest - 2K6 smokes Live (I have always preferred Live prior to this year)

Gun sure ended up being short and very odd.

I figured that I would do the story a bit and then do some side missions to build my stats up. I did this a few times and suddenly I'm at a point where the game won't let me free roam and I'm getting my ass kicked in the missions. I come up to the last guy, who I have heard with hight stats, and I'm just getting pounded.

I almost bought Kameo when I was at Wal-Mart a few hours ago. I passed in the hopes of coming home and enjoying Gun a bit more. So much for that idea. I know feel good again about the fact that it was a rental.

I'm really liking Kameo, but the freakin camera is pissing me off. It's like I have to have my thumb on the camera control during the entire game...

Finally picked up my copy of Call of Duty 2. I am more impressed with this game than Kameo & PD0. I know I will be playing through it first. Looks killer in HD and sound amazing in 5.1.

Top Spin & Condemned are next on the list.

I'm stuck on Kameo already, can't figure out how to enter a damn tree trunk in the forest.

I ended up buying Kameo today since everyone spoke so highly of it and I thought the demo was great. I too got stuck on that part and I had a group of friends over watching me play. We spent ages looking for that trunk and all felt really stupid for not finding it sooner. I was going to send you a message over Live to help ya but I don't see a tag for you.

Spoiler:
There is a set of vines in the badlands that grow to cover a opening as you approach it. That is what you need to go under with Pummel Weed.

The game is fun but the camera is pretty bad. Over 5 years in development and we are still having camera issues? Tsk tsk.

I've completely changed my mind on Tiger Woods. I've loved previous version but was very upset with the gameplay in this version. I pretty much abandoned the career mode now and love the game. Once I have higher stats I'll go back and try all the career stuff. I just think it's funny that they make you hit all these cray shots from the rough and bunkers to train you. They should be training you to just avoid these things. I'm doing way better and earning points faster by doing match play and stroke play instead of their "training" stuff.

I got stuck there, too. I tried different stuff for 45 minutes, then put it back in the GameFly envelope and sent it back. I don't have time to waste on that crap. LOL. Might pick it up when it hits $20.

Glad I'm not the only one. I felt so stupid for getting stuck so early in the game. I too wandered around for about an hour with no results.

MasterOfDVD: Thanks, I will have to try that the next time I boot it up. BTW, Gamertag: (removed)
