Yeah, the every10minutes thing is BS....there are too many people abusing the program. I gave up. I'll enter a contest with 1 or 2 codes. Only takes 1 to win I guess.

No, but some stores are letting you pre-order JUST the console....nothing online I don't think, but I know GameRush has just the console for sure (and you can pre-order any 360 game)

Bundles are pointless, they save you NO money

Yeah, bundles will save you no money. I purchased a bundle on-line, simply for convenience. I won't have time to stop by a store pickup, so for me paying a extra $20 for next day delivery is a big stress saver. I went with the EB $799 option with a copy of (groan) Madden.

Thing I did the same with the Xbox1 and it arrived exactly on Nov. 15, so I hope the same will occur with the 360.

Can't wait for Nov.

Can we please not turn this into a 'beg for mountain dew xbox360 codes' thread?

Someone can start a different thread for that.

I didn't say it was, just asking that we don't turn it into one. Reading comprehension is your friend.

This is supposed to be a thread for news and information regarding the Xbox 360.

I called EB and Gamestop today to see if they were still taking pre-orders. EB said that they were told not to take anymore. Gamestop said that while they were still taking pre-orders, they couldn't promise first shipment since they weren't sure of how many 360's they will receive.

I figure that I'll take my chances and wait in line the day of the launch. I did the same for the PS2 and had no problems in obtaining one. It only meant getting up at 4 am and waiting in line for four hours with my then gf and a bunch of other dorks at Best Buy.

Maybe some of the chain retail stores will have a midnight release. The TRU in Times Square had that Halo 2 release event which was cool; why wouldn't they do the same for the 360?

BTW- do any of you think it's a little strange that we still aren't receiving much info on the 360's games and what games are definitely launching with the system?

Yeah, I don't think people will have a problem getting the system at launch without preordering them. The higher than average price on the system will definitely make it so it isn't of popular of a launch as the PS2 or even the original Xbox (especially with no 'killer-app' like Halo).

I am betting that at least stores like Wal Mart, Game Rush, and maybe even Best Buy will do a midnight sale of the system.

As for the lack of information, I am hoping that it just means over the course of the next two months we will just be bombarded with information. Who really knows with Microsoft though. At this point I would just be happy with an actual list of launch titles (even if they aren't positive on most) and the MSRP's of them.

I feel the same way flashburn. The launch probably will be successful but I don't think it will be too difficult to get your hands on a 360 come November. That is until the last couple of weeks before Christmas when all of the moms will be frantically looking for one. I remember when the PS2 launched 'black market people' (?) would drive around the local malls and hold the PS2 up through the sunroofs of their cars to make deals. Crazy stuff indeed.

As for the games, I hope that what you say is true and that maybe Microsoft is going the Rockstar GTA route and withholding most info until mere moments before launch.

I got it, I was being sarcastic. I have also did my part and deleted all my posts in regards to the promotion to keep the thread on track. Except for this one now. Maybe others will do the same.

I've been reading that some of the abusers actually won too.

Yeah, at least 4-5 people over at cheapassgamer.com won. I can't believe that Pepsi didn't think ahead of time that this would happen.

It wouldn't surprise me if a lot of those prizes weren't awarded. It's possible the official rules of the contest have clauses about abuses such as this.

How is it you can cheat? Don't you have to mail in your game piece if you win?

On the system side, has it been mentioned if you can play Halo 2 on 360 on Live? Or will it only be an offline only game?

Like everything else, Microsoft is being incredibly secretive about their backwards compatibility. It will work, because they have already said that Halo 2 will be supported on the Xbox 360, and that people can play Xbox Live titles on the 360 (if they are supported titles that is).

As for the Mountain Dew thing, I don't think you need to mail anything in. A good amount of the codes are actually auto generated through the site, that is why there was people cheating.

One thing I noticed about the Mountain Dew Game is that the winners actually get their system the Saturday before the launch of the 360.

Apparently it's official now (listed in the new OXM) that there's not a way to transfer saved games from the Xbox to the Xbox 360. Drag.

That sucks. Looks like most, if not all, of my XBOX games will be sold. I don't feel like replaying them. Oh well.

Please not on Black Friday. I hate shopping on Black Friday.

US Retailers: Xbox 360 Primed for Thanksgiving
Retailer chains point to November 25 as hardware launch date in US.

by Douglass C. Perry

August 31, 2005 - Microsoft plans to launch the Xbox 360 as late as Friday, November 25, the day after Thanksgiving, with software potentially hitting shelves earlier that week, sources from three US retailers told IGN today.

The three retail chains, all of whom independently pointed to Friday, November 25, as the hardware launch day, received email describing launch data late Monday. Launch day games have been re-assigned from early November to Monday, November 22, as potential first day ship dates. When contacted, Microsoft would not confirm or deny the information. In previous official announcements, Microsoft has said Xbox 360 will vaguely launch this fall.

Why the late date? Microsoft is hoping to give developers as much time as possible to finish and polish their games while simultaneously shipping their concave new box during the most active day in North America. Additionally, independent sources have told IGN that final dev kits haven't replaced the mid-summer beta kits, which has added to developers' frustrations.

Game developers, analysts, and retailers have all been unofficially told by Microsoft that November is the launch month, but even as late as today, when IGN phoned a handful of teams, they were still uncertain of a concrete date. Retailers, have thus far, provided shifting and often conflicting information, but rarely do their dates or numbers match up as evenly as this data.

Is that too late for Microsoft? Hardly. In the current generation, the PS2 was the earliest to launch on October 26, 2000, while Nintendo and Microsoft launches their systems on Sunday November 18, and Thursday November 15, respectively.

We'll have more on the Xbox 360 launch soon.

Definitely wouldn't be getting a 360 for the first few days -- even if I pre-ordered! -- with a Black Friday release date. That entire weekend is nightmarish. I'd hope Microsoft would be smarter than this.

Black Friday? That will be really stupid. You'll have the console geeks camping beside the thift shoppers. Only chaos can result.

Is it really "backward compatible" if you can't transfer save files?
