I don't see what is so revolutionary about it. All three are going to have WiFi and wireless controllers. PS3 and Revolution allow for entire use of gaming library (albeit more extensive and expensive on the Nintendo side). Its tiny, but again, miniturization has only resulted in less raw power. What am I supposed to be impressed with?

Have they released the specs for the Revolution yet? Specifically, how many paper clips will it weigh?

Nintendo overload. Overload. All about games. All about GAMES. NES, SNES, N64 downloads. Mario & Luigi 2. Metroid Prime 2. Smash Bros. online. Open arms to innovative and niche game development. Yes, I like this all so far. Trying not to get too excited in the hype. 3 coffees not helping.

I'd buy a new model of GBA for a DS-like screen but I'm not too hot on the design, I might just stick with my NES SP.

I don't see how they can possibly have the rights to offer all third-party games for download. I assume we're only going to be able to get first-party games, and possibly games where they can work out a deal with whoever does own the rights?

When they say "Nintendo games", I assume they're talking about the strictest sense of the word?

Keeping lid on it until next e3 just like N64 when every thought be there at 95 E3. Perhaps not bad idea given how fans reacted to PDO and alot 360 stuff that seemed extremely rushed and IF really have cool concept in controller better not give competition near year copy it as well.

They haven't showed the controller or any revolutionary games yet. I imagine they'll save that for the Tokyo Game Show or even E3 next year. No need to tip their hand yet.

And of course it could end up not being revolutionary at all. Time will tell.

The downloads impress me, I still have my SNES, but a few games I've picked up or kept have dead batteries I don't feel like replacing, so it will be nice to just D/L them, if they're not to costly.

Convinced game development on Revolution will be easier and far less costly than for other machines. "Big idea can prevail over big budget." Revolution is a solution to help maximize creative freedom.
That is probably the most impressive thing in that transcript. It is a shame when you see great games like Beyond Good & Evil or Eternal Darkness get the shaft and never see any sequels. Hopefully they can make this part very attractive to 3rd parties. This is defenitely a better option than raising the price of games, IMO.

That was a pretty lackluster mention about the graphics... "wow!" Umm. okay. Let's see something damnit!

Yeah, all games made by Nintendo. They have strong partnerships with some of the top NES publishers like Namco, Capcom and Konami so it's possible third party stuff could be available as well. I wonder what happens to games created by companies that no longer exist. Compile for instance, created three of my all-time favorite NES games: Zanac, The Guardian Legend and Gun*Nac, but they closed their doors in 2001.

I agree. I've been worried that Sony and MS were going to push smaller, unique games off the face of the planet but Nintendo is sending an open invite to these games and I couldn't be happier. It's that kind of philosophy that has actually kept me interested in video gaming at all in these rather stagnant days.

Was Metroid Prime 3 supposed to be a Revolution title or were they going to complete a trilogy on Cube?

I don't have a DS and who knows if I will get one, but I joked about wanting another GBA with that screen and here it is.

I'll stick with my DS. Small portables (like the SP) just cramp my hands.

Except that Nintendo has traditionally been tyrannical in their licensing of 3rd parties. Not saying they haven't changed, but it'll take more than a couple PR lines to convince me all the great niche titles are going to flock to the Revolution.

That is a vast over generalization. If you look at Sony published games, the majority of them are first time game developers or former first time game developers who showed their idea to Sony, and Sony through money at them to make their game. Not all of them turn out good, but Sony gives them a chance.

I guess it depends who owns the rights. Maybe some of these type of games have drifted into public domain, but I doubt it. Even if they have, I still doubt they'll be offered.

However, the memory card sounds like it might not be a proprietary format, so maybe there will be other ways for them to let us get games that we legally own.

Overall I think it was a decent press conference. They have tons of time til they even release the Revolution so it'd be pointless to let everything out this early. They just need to get their name out there with all the other Next Gen systems getting their PR as well.
