Oof. Went out and bought my third DS today (first was stolen, grr). My GF got addicted to Zoo Keeper and Sprung. When I saw addicted, I mean it. She played atleast 10 hours of Sprung today. I can not wait till WarioWare comes out in 2 weeks....

No, there isn't anything else to unlock besides the one video in metroid.
Is Sprung really that good? At first I thought the idea was really stupid but the more I read about it the more it appeals to me and it seems like the type of game the GF would like. Especially since the writer is the same as North Shore

If only Zookeeper is not so expensive, I would've bought it immediately. It's outrageous that they would charge $40 for a puzzle game on a handheld. Even with $5 off at Target this week, it is still too rich for my blood. $20 would be perfect.

Exactly...I'm not sure what they were thinking with charging $40 for a freakin puzzle game. I definitely would've picked it up for $20 though.

anyone check out the preview for Yoshi touch and go at Ign? sounds really cool. So did the single cart mutiplayer, you can see your opponents touch screen on your upper screen. it is a race and if you kill a few bad guys in a row it sends them to your opponent.

I think the announced price of the psp has sealed the deal of my getting a ds. As soon as my tax refund gets here it going to be mine. I may pick up a gba game as well.

Ds is the way to go value meets cutting edge control and gameplay. Nintendo just can't get the two new WARIO games (touched and twisted) out quickly enough for me both are the next 2 games I am buying

Retailers originally had Hunters pened in for late march, Nintendo never had an offical release date. The first one they announced is/was May 8th, so about 5 weeks later.
Originally, be it through Nintendo or speculation, it was believed Nintendo would launch Hunters around the time of the PSP, however its now known that Warioware Touch! will be released around that time. Hope that clears any confusion.

THIS IS A NOTE ABOUT USING TOUCH SCREENS AND SCREEN PROTECTORS for everyone who is concerned about scratches on your lower screen I HIGHLY RECOMMEND using a SCREEN PROTECTOR for the bottom screen, if applied properly and carefully the static plastic attachment kind (NOT GLUE) are great they come off easily and don't interfere with touch screen performance. I got a set with the MICROKIT DS by Mad Catz and they work great (top one seems unneeded though) They do take some patience to get on if you want it air bubble and particle free but its worth it not to have to wince every time you put stylus to screen.

This thread has been quiet, so I thought I would add my rambling thoughts. I just recently joined the ranks of DS owners. I bought one off someone selling their copy on Craig’s list. He threw in SonicBattle GBA ,Mario3 GBA and Ridge Racers DS for $130. GBA games look great on the DS. I went out and bought Mr. Driller last night. First let me say I love all videogame systems, (N-Gage aside)and I think all this bashing on this board is silly, so please take all my comments in that way. I mean no harm. I have been gaming since the mid 70’s, so I have been around. I am getting a PSP next month (I hope w/ Spiderman 2 UMD) as well.
I like the DS a lot. At first I was very concerned given a 3-D FPS was included as a demo. I cannot play FPS shooters or generally anything in first person. Metroid, GTA, Doom, any FPS for the computer, even Super Mario 64 makes me nauseous. It has been documented on this board before so I won’t get into it. Needless to say it sucks. The Metroid demo made me sick pretty quickly, though I did like the control scheme with the tapping. The music reminded me of the Virtual Boy game Red Alarm. (You would think that not being able to play FPS that I would not be able to play a Virtual Boy, but no, I can play it fine. No textures warping maybe?) Metroid DS’ graphics are well done and it will be the killer app. Even MORE so if they put it online. Speaking of which, I thought the DS was marketed towards adults… Why had online play NOT been put in from the start? How many adults will whip out a DS on the commute to work to play each other in the US? Building 802.11b/g into the unit is great. I want ONLINE play though. Why bother having it in the unit? Hopefully we will here something at E3 in May.
I think the DS will ULTIMATLEY be a niche device. I think! It’s kind of on the border for me. But it will not be a failed niche device like the Virtual Boy. Yeah they sold a lot of units of DS this holiday season. Don’t let those numbers fool you, the Dreamcast initially sold a lot of units and looked what happened to that. DS was new and hot this Chritmas. As recently stated by Nintendo, they sold a lot less game unit than they thought. It’s just a weird system. The game play that Nintendo is putting forth with the touch screen is not what consumers are accustomed too. Hopefully games will make great use of the touch screen and overcome this hurdle.
We have WarioWare Touched coming on Valentines Day. This should be great use of the screens.
Some other games in 2005
• Frogger Helmet Havoc Fall 05
• A portable version of Splinter Cell Chaos Theory will hit the DS "later this year," according to Ubisoft.
• King Kong will smash onto the DS this holiday season. No details have emerged from the development yet, but the game will be based on Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson's upcoming film, due in theaters December 14.
• Ubisoft also announced that it will be publishing Hudson Soft's Bomberman this summer. The game is the first DS version of the long-running Bomberman series, and it will deliver single and wireless multiplayer explosive action and feature voice-recognition support.
• Konami will bring Castlevania DS
• Nintendo will bring out Yoshi Touch and Go!
• Gyakuten Saiban (working title) Hands-On
Capcom announced that the latest entry in its courtroom battle series (!) , tentatively titled Gyakuten Saiban, will be hitting US shores this summer. For those unfamiliar with the courtroom battle series, it began on the Game Boy Advance and met with enough popular acclaim to warrant two sequels and a DS conversion of the first game. While the DS game is based on the first entry in the GBA series, which appeared several years ago on the handheld system, Capcom's teams are working to ensure the DS game is more than just a port by adding DS-specific features and new game content, such as an all-new chapter.

Well, I know I will be looking forward to some of these. Meanwhile, I am happy with my purchase…I like the DS, it’s a cute little system with a lot of possibilities.
