yeah but jack you only posted 1 screen shot I posted a link to alot more, I am just letting people now that the game will look the same as VC horrible, at least the gameplay will be great, I love how you have to do home burgalires and robberies now.

I just wonder if someone like Al Sharpton, will consider this racist, because when the guys were white you did not break into my houses and now that he is black you do :)

If you thought it was so bad Corky, go into options while playing the game, and turn off "Tracing," I believe it is. There's something in the video option screen you can turn off that makes the game look a helluva lot better.

no dont take it the worng way this is most most anticipated game of the year, but the graphics do not stand the test of time, to the gretas of Halo 2, Ninja Gaiden, and other notable graphic acheivments

Jackskeleton 05-21-04 01:57 PM

The test of time? For the level of gameplay jammed into this and the fact that it's going to be six times bigger than Vice City, not to mention the many different things you can ride.. It's well up there. Especially since it's still to early to tell what the FINAL graphics will be like.

Trigger 05-21-04 04:38 PM

I'm a graphics whore/snob/bitch/whatever and even I don't care if the graphics are yucky on this game. I will buy it and play it and like it.

theneobez 05-21-04 04:44 PM

i thought San Andreas was like in Spain or something when they anounced the game.

Trigger 05-21-04 05:41 PM

San Andreas is the name of the fault line that runs through California and the west coast. It's the line where two tectonic plates (the North American plate and the Pacific Plate) meet and is the reason for all the earthquakes. The San Andreas Fault is 800 miles long.

Thanks for that helpful caption! I was really puzzled as to what that sign could be. :hscratch:

;)

Seriosly, this game looks fun, if not especially pretty. I wonder, though, if it's going to stir up some ugly criticism about perceived racism.

nickdawgy 07-16-04 09:19 AM

 Vinewood

beefjerky 07-16-04 12:31 PM

In the picture after the Vinewood one...it's Eazy-E!

The previous games were abuot Italian mobsters. What's wrong with black gang bangers?

RyoHazuki 07-16-04 09:16 PM

Its only racism when its about a colored minority. Italians are fair game, as are Irish, Germans, and pretty much all of Europe.

wmansir 07-16-04 09:39 PM

Did Vice City generate some heat from cuban-americans?

Yeah, it's not as if Italians or Jews ever complain about being unfairly portrayed in the media or anything, it's just those uppity Al Sharpton types.

Haitians. Big time. Even forcing a minor change in new releases of the game, so it no longer tells you to "Kill The Haitians" (because you know how that will prompt so many young kids to go on Haitian killing sprees)

And yes, there will be a few people who complain about racial stereotypes no matter what the ethnicity. But c'mon, be real. These GTA games are always a lightning rod for controversy. (I remember how SHOCKED and APPALLED Charlie Gibson and Diane Sawyer were when they showed brief clips, after the appropriate warnings to viewers, on GMA.) And this game will (probably) be perceived as glorifying gang violence. Let's face it, few Italian American mothers are worried that their kid will join the mob. You can't really compare that to gang violence in the inner cities. Personally, I don't have a problem with the game, at least what I've seen so far. But don't kid yourself that this game isn't going to peripitate a $hitstorm of ugly controversy, because it will. Think back to the early 90's: What film caused more controversy, Goodfellas or Colors?

Well, I try to keep a measure of decorum here. But now that it's appeared three times since my post above, I agree it seems pretty silly.

Jam Master Jay 07-18-04 04:36 AM

that's really wierd. for some reason, no images at that website are showing up for me, all a bunch of X's. dammit I want to see these screens!

Trigger 07-18-04 06:59 AM

Link worked for me as well... it's just about a dozen shots and most of them have been seen before... not missing much.

Man - this game is really gonna piss parents off.

Hokeyboy 07-18-04 04:23 PM

What blew my mind about GTA: Vice City was how jaw-droppingly accurate a depiction of Miami it was -- especially Miami circa 1985. I've lived here on and off for 32 years, and this area 17 years ago was exceedingly different from how it is now.

The makers of Vice City captured it brilliantly. Good show.

And if anyone thinks there isn't any Haitian/Cuban friction in Miami, they're dreaming. The perception is that the Cuban immigrants gets all the benefits (being the majority), and the Haitians get squat. There's more than a bit of truth there.

MasterCXtreme 07-19-04 04:18 PM

I think it's safe to say that this game is going to kick major ass!
