I'm stuck and I need a little bit of help:

Spoiler:
What am I supposed to do at the baseball field? I've noticed the numbers on the scoreboard glow when I switch to Insanity mode. I've been running around in circles trying to figure this one out!

This game has had me jump more times than any other game in the horror genre. There's something uncanny when playing in the dark with the sound turned up and you hear the voice say,
Spoiler:
"Eat shit and die"
. Not like any other game I've played.

Hey who me? I've just finished the game 4 days ago and can't remember seeing a scoreboard hehe. Maybe it's a puzzle of some sort but It probably means nothing beside a cool special effect...

Are you really stuck (nowhere to go) or is this question related to the scoreboard?

I agree with you on the "cool creepy factor"
Spoiler:
each time you encounter a possible ally those conflicting voices come in: "Kill him he's useless!! F**K HIM!!" Or " He will help you"

Cool stuff

Darkfriend, yes I'm stuck, I'll bet it's something very simple but I just don't see it.
Spoiler:
It's the part where you drop the cabinet into the shaft where it triggers an explosion at the bottom. You drop into the shaft and walk out of the newly created hole where you see your son playing baseball. Then what? The critters keep on jumping out of the hole where the pitchers mound is supposed to be. There are boxes around the field that detonate if shot at and there's a gate that can't be opened at the far end. It's driving me crazy. Plus I keep on expecting voices in my head after I shut of the game.

If I remember correctly just keep on killing the baddies (and morph once in a while doing a jump attack) and when the crazy music stops you'll be able to get on your way.

Well, I'll give it a shot, I must have taken down dozens of them, maybe I was just impatient. And
Spoiler:
the scoreboard, there must be something to it because only select numbers are highlighted, not all of them

who me?

*possible spoilers*

there's a spotlight by the ladder that you must shine directly down in front of the hole. go down the shaft and stand close by the entrance and the cutters will try to get you (be prepared to shoot some of them) but they will get toasted once the light hits them. those big beasts with rifles and cannons mounted on their backs will come out next. you should transform and make quick work of them. remember to keep moving around and use the special move R2 + x button (i think) if you get surrounded. it takes a while but you can also use the shiv to cut those guys up. saves on ammo.

got this game this past monday and i am really enjoying it. the controls are a little hard to get used to...i keep accidently transforming...but other than that, its very cool!

Is it just me, or does it seem that this game isn't getting talked about at all? It seems that this could be this years sleeper hit, as Metal Arms was last years.

Crap! How many times have I walked past the spotlight?! Now I'll have to wait eight hours before I get to try this. Thanks for the tip Claweight.

Flashburn, if it weren't for this thread I wouldn't have picked up the game, haven't heard much expect for the commercials. Now I'm glad I picked it up.

this game was definitely worth the full price that i paid, even if it didn't come with the free copy of arcade treasures. i'm having a good time with this. kudos to the developers (surreal). some minor bugs aside, they did a fantastic job! here's hoping more people check this game out.

I really hope the team that works on Resident Evil is taking notes. IMO The Suffering got everything right that Resident Evil gets wrong.

Here is a short list:
Being able to save anywhere.
Fantastic controls.
Great camera, and a useful and neat first person view.
The abilty to actually have real scares instead of cheap ones constantly.
Tons of ammo.

no problem, who me? glad to help. further into the game the fighting while increase in intensity, so be prepared.
i'm trying real hard to be good and not kill anybody i'm supposed to help, but man its so tempting. especially that whiney guard during that part with the spotlight.
i was going to take a break from playing this game for a day or two but after watching 'dawn of the dead' today it put me into the mood for blasting some more nasties!

I am just wondering...is there anyone here that bought or rented this game and *doesnt* like it? This seems to be one of the most well recieved games around.

Those that completed the game, what did you think of the additional prologue?
Spoiler:
Nice to see the big boss and your entire family at the dock. I thought it was encouraging the player to try the evil side, which I have been more than happy to comply after putting up with some of the guards the first time around.

Yes MonkeyG, that was cool. Did you try standing on the raven in the corner? Cool spoiler ahead:

Spoiler:
Torque gets a cowboy hat and you hear commentary from one of the developpers explaining why they didn't include this prologue the first time through

Didn't see the raven in the corner, I'll have to try that once I get home from work! There's rumor of a chicken gun floating around somewhere. The developers have said there are a bunch of easter eggs in this game.

And of those that love it, do any of you abhor other survival horror games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill?

Me! I absolutely HATE 'Resident Evil'. Namely for the reasons I already listed that 'The Suffering' does right. Silent Hill was decent, but it still had alot of the things I disliked from Resident Evil.

Didn't like Resident Evil, couldn't get used to the camera angles. Got bored with Silent Hill 2, I'm not sure why, just couldn't get into the game. Fatal Frame, though was really good, great atmosphere, hope to get Fatal Frame 2 once it comes down in price.

i just received the new egm today and those bastids gave the game 6.5,6.0 and 6.5! ehh, what the hell to they know! although i do agree the story was a little bit of a head scratcher and the intensity of the violence in some sequences left me a bit numb. most definitely not a kiddie game.

I just beat the game! How fantastic. I cannot think of one bad thing to say about this game, except for the fact that it ended. It unlocked some really cool extras too.

If anyone cares, I beat it with the 'good' ending, didn't do one 'evil' thing in the game.

Ok I am stuck. I got out of the place and then followed a stream of water to the ocean. I have been running around trying to find out what I'm supposed to do next. Any help would be great. Thanks.
