Too bad this deal isn't a bit later, I wanted to pick up THE HOBBIT for the GC.

I e-mailed Amazon about whether more copies of Viewtiful Joe will be in stock by Sunday. Here's their reply:

Thank you for contacting us at Amazon.com.

Unfortunately, as our web site indicates, we're currently out of stock
of "Viewtiful Joe" and we are not able to guarantee when or if this
item will be available for purchase on our web site. For this
reason, the item is currently listed out of stock.

Please note that our supply of popular items is often limited and some
products sell out quickly. We are very sorry that you were not able
to place your order before our supply ran out.

I would suggest checking our web site from time to time to see if this
item has come back in stock or if it is available from a third-party
seller through Amazon Marketplace.

I'd also recommend searching our Auctions (http://auctions.amazon.com)
or zShops (http://www.amazon.com/zshops) sites to see if anyone is
selling the item there.

However, you may add any another qulaifying item to your shopping
cart to avail this offer.

I wish you good luck in obtaining this item. Thanks again for
shopping at Amazon.com.
Bummer. And the B&M is no guarantee either.

Hate to keep going to the well, but...

The afformentioned TRU manager says that the Amazon link above is an unrelated sale and that you won't be able to access the TRU 3 for 2 sale on all GCN titles until Sunday, when it actually starts. Makes sense. We'll see.

Thanks for the info, BeckysBoy, but that still doesn't change the fact that the first choice for most of us (Viewtiful Joe) is still sold out.

Looks like this will be in-store only...

Direct from Amazon:

"Thank you for writing to Amazon.com and Toysrus.com.

Though our co-branded site tries to participate in most Toys "R" Us
promotions, some, including the one you mentioned in your message,
are available only in the physical stores and not at the co-branded
online toy store.

If you would like to find a physical Toys "R" Us store in your area,
please contact the Toys "R" Us corporate offices at 1-888-869-7932
and press 2 to speak with the next available representative. You
may also want to visit the corporate web site at:

http://www.toysrusinc.com"

Sorry to those of you without a TRU B&M in your vicinity. I guess this eliminates the possiblity of preorders as well. I still say wait until the day in question because there's always the chance that this was a rep who was out of the loop.

Ok, so now that pre-orders are maybe out, how about this for a scheme to insure I get a game that doesn't come out until mid-week. TMNT doesn't come out until the middle of the week. I don't want to wait until then to buy my other two games, just in case my other choices sell out. So could I go and buy my 2 choice games on Sunday and get some other random game for free. Then could I exchange the random 3rd game for TMNT once it's released? Would this work?

Is this off good for in store purchases only or will they make it available online?

No worries. I just read the section where the offer appears to be good in store only. Thanks again.

If you want to exchange a game later, make sure the "free" game is one you want to keep, and that you actually pay for the one you want to exchange. If you get the game for free, they won't exchange it for you at all... even with a gift receipt. At least, that's how it worked last year.

Too bad this deal isn't a week later for XBOX. There's a ton of games coming out that first week of November (GTA double pack, LINKS 2004 to name a couple.) Is it decided then that pre orders will not be allowed?

Got the ad in the mail today..."buy 2, get the 3rd free on ALL gamecube titles. Free item must be of equal or lesser value. While supplies last. Sorry, no rain checks. See toysrus.com for online offer."

Coupon is required, but they should have tons of them in-store.

Sorry for an odd question, but can anyone confirm this? I know some chain, like Bob Stores only have coupons in the flyers they include in the Sunday paper. The in-store flyer never has the coupons. Even though a Toys-R-Us is about 20 minutes away, I never get their flyers.

In my years of shopping fairly regularly at TRU, they always have plenty of flyers in the stores. YMMV

Mine said they had plenty of coupons and as long as games were available if the coupons run out that's no problem, they'll still honor the sale.

Never needed a coupon in the past, the lowest priced of all three usually rang up for free automatically.

More developments

Here's the online sale options. Kinda limited, but better than nothing, I suppose. Simply add three like-priced titles into your cart and use the coupon to get the third free.

$39.99 titles - Use code GAMECUBE39FR

$49.99 titles - Use code GAMECUBE49FR

Thanks for the links, BeckysBoy. So, there's no way to combine the $39.99 and $49.99 titles? I'd get 3 $39.99 games, but bloody Viewtiful Joe is STILL sold out.

I agree...why even bother with a sale when you cannot even preorder titles. Most of the in-stock titles pretty much suck.

And their prices suck also. Wario World at $49.99? ZooCube at $29.99? (GBA but you get the point).

Another one I forgot to mention.

Eternal Darkness has been $19.99 for the last six months or more....at least...that is how much I paid for it awhile back. Why in the world do they have this listed at $49.99?
