Ummm, why exactly would that be BS? Is it impossible that some managers are actually willing to help? Or is it THAT hard to believe that there is a TRU store in my town. Ughghg, dumb comments irritate me.

He's got to be referring to the idea that it will be 'Buy 1, Get Another' as BS.

Every year has been 3-for-2, which is the most aggressive on price TRU ever is. There's no way they get more generous than that.

Plus, if you believe the reports of this enough to trust that this sale is indeed happening, there's no reason to disbelieve that the first week's ad's contents have been accurately described... Gamecube: 3-for-2.

I don't a Buy One Get One deal is gonna happen but you certainly could be nicer about it.

I can't really afford a Buy 2 Get 1 deal with all the toys and DVDs I have coming in but I too would be telling all my relatives about it.

Not completely true...

A couple of months back, they did have buy 1, get 1 free on the top 10 games at the time.

How did it work for pre-orders last year? Do you pay the full price of the pre-order for the game you want (if its not the free one)?

The two available games I want for that particular week are Rebel Strike and Viewtiful Joe (glad I waited!). The third game I'd like to get is Mario Kart (the pre-order). I believe Rebel Strike and Mario Kart will have a MSRP of $49.99, and Viewtiful Joe is $39.99. I'm assuming TRU would make you pay for the two $49.99 games and give the $39.99 free. So if the sale includes pre-orders, do they ask you to pay the full $49.99 up front?

Yeah, I think you just paid full price for the pre-orders. There were 3 games I wanted last year, so I didn't do it, but I remember some people here doing preorders for this deal.

As for Viewtiful Joe, yes you would get the cheaper one free, so I'd stay away from that one for this deal. As with all buy something get something free deals, the free item has to be of equal or lesser value. You want to get all $50 games to maximize the deal.

Jeesh, if it includes preorder, I'll be signing BOTH October paychecks over to them.

Time to switch my Best Buy direct deposit...

This is wonderful. I want Ninja Turtles, Viewtiful Joe, & Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu, all of which are priced at 40 bucks. Can someone confirm that this is possible? I have an order for Batman through the Ubi soft website that I would need to cancel if it is.

Does this deal usually work through the website too or is it only in store? My local TRU is notorious for not having the games I want in stock.

Hell I might get three games that are at the $30 dollar range and three more at the $20 buck range and not buy anything until the spring! Or maybe I'm getting ahead of myself.

For a thread entitled "Annual Toys R Us 'Buy 2, Get 1 Free' update" it might be wise to not post until you have some definitive information instead of rampant speculation. I'm tired of coming back here just to find nothing concrete.

For those who did this last year...

what preorders can you preorder? How far into the future? For example, can you peorder Fable or BC? Eyetoy coming out in November? What's the cutoff date for preorders?

Last year, if I remember correctly, it was usually hit or miss whether you could buy preordered games at TRU B&M. Amazon.com, which is affiliated with TRU, did allow you to preorder some games (and usually had much better stock in already-released games as well).

In years past, you could get your three games, then return them for newer games after the deal was over. Recently, they slightly changed that... they mark the free game, and you can't return it even if you bring in a gift receipt. So you had to make sure the game you were thinking about returning was one of the ones that were actually paid for on the receipt. If this sale happens, it's probably to clear out inventory before the X-mas season...

Well, I remember that Toysrus.com listed the deal last year and there were about 8-12 games to choose from -- about half were sports and the others included Blinx, Dead to Rights, and some others. At least on the website, it certainly wasn't whichever ones you wanted IIRC.

Last year, Toys R Us only did this promotion for PS2 games. So whatever deal you're thinking of is a different one.

Is there a price point on this offer?

In other words, could I use it to pick up two $25 games and get another $25 or less game for free?

If so, I'm going to pick up the Morrowwind:GOTY and Godzilla (for my kid) games and pick a Greatest Hits title for free (Hitman2??)

Last year the lowest price of the three was free.

so if you got a $49 , $49, $49, $19,$19, $19 games then two $19 games are free.

If you are buying a bunch then do separate prchases.

so $49, $49, $49= $49 free

then $19, $19, $19 = $19 free

I did this for the dvd deal they had.

Yep, last falls deal was only for PS2 games. But it was for ALL PS2 games, not just some list.

I got Kingdom Hearts, Contra, and LOTR: TTT.

This years deal is rumored to be one time period for only ALL GC games, and another for ALL PS2 and X-box games and you can mix and match.

Time well tell though.

Has there been any official confirmation of the GC Game sale happening, or is this still basically a speculation thread?

It's getting close. The GC sale is rumored to start on the 19th, which is this Sunday... Wouldn't we know by now if this was for real?
