Which version of Soul Caliber 2 are you getting?

I couldn't get into VF 4 at all. Just seemed slow, the moves were boring (I like big flashy moves) and too steep a learning curve. The graphics aren't that hot either, and fighting games are one of the few genre's where I really care about graphics.

Not too surprising, lots of people think that Virtua Fighter 4 is a better game than Soul Calibur 2.

There is just so much more to do in soul calibur. Weapons Master, extra unlockables and whatnot. The gameplay seems to last longer.

Features: Tie
Control: Tie
Sound: Xbox
PS2 runner-up
GC has flatter sound compared to other versions
Graphics: Xbox - best background detail
GC runner-up
PS2 has slowdown, some jaggies and other artifacts (but better than most PS2 games)
Presentation: GC, because it has a Zelda song.
Xbox runner-up, fastest load times
PS2 has the longest load times
Overall: Xbox
GC runner-up

Thanks.
I'm suprised that they didn't give the edge in "controls" to the PS2 as I thought most feel the PS2 controller is the best for fighting games.
Glad I'm getting the Xbox version, but like many have said here, they all sound pretty good.
BTW under graphics, did they say if the PS2 version had jaggies? I found that a little distracting in the otherwise fabulous VF4.

edit: If you're using Xbox Controller S, the button placement is the same diamond shape as the PS2. The Non-S controller's button placement may be a little diffucult to use for a fighting game though.

Copied from Metacritic:
Score = 90
GMR Magazine
The Xbox controller, thanks to the ultrastiff D-pad and gummi bear-buttons, is the least responsive controller to play SC II with... The graphics are the best of the three versions, though not by much. [Sept 2003, p.63]

There is no such thing as a serious gamer who prefers gamepad over joystick for fighting games.

PS. That was a joke I would not do a girl who was knocked out unless she was really cute.

SC2 is better then VF4 cause of the boob factor I get to see more tits in SC2 so it's the winner. HMMMMMMMM Ivy how I'd love for you to use that whip sword on me baby hmmmmmmm. I'd also take on the DD cup size nanja girl. I tell ya if I was a fighter in that game once I knocked them lady fighters out the game would go from teen to x-rated game real damn fast.

I thought that the graphics in VF4:Evo were pretty darn good. Excellent character models, and the ability to modify them with different accessories and colors is pretty cool. The backgrounds are a bit bland (Xbox's extra memory could've helped here).

Why are people picking up one version over another because of a character - ie: Link?
I will never understand this mentality.
Sure, Link in a Miyamoto Zelda game rules supreme - but outside of that he's just some androgynous bitch-boy.
What's the draw?

The games are more or less the same other wise. The PS2 versions graphics aren't as good and has some slow down. The X-box apparantly looks a little better than the GC version, but from reviews it's supposedly only really noticable on HD TV sets.
So if you own all three systems (and don't care about the minor graphical diffences) then it really comes down to which character you want more and/or which controller you prefer. The latter is not a concern for those who use Arcade sticks, and you can get adapters to use every systems controller on the other consoles anyway, so it's not a big deal.

The GCN So. Cal. looks awesome in HD and progressive scan. The X-Box may look a "little" better but I'm thoroughly enjoying Link as a playable as opposed to Spawn. It's like Super Smash Bros. evolved and he kicks (and spanks) butt. Spawn, yawn.

Got the GC version last night, fighting w/ Link is pretty cool. The funniest victory I had was when Voldo knocked me to the ground, then he did this flying tumble over me and fell out of the ring.

I got the GC version today. Link, baby, yeah! He's awesome
I love it when he says "sike" when he does an upper kick. And I beat the practice level of the weapons area and got some extra practice, with the Link music! It is an AWESOME playing experience.

Just picked up my copy for Xbox today and am loving every second of it. I've already beat the game with Spawn and Yoshimitsu. I'm kinda disappointed in the Weapon Master mode though. It's kinda bare and simple, but it makes for a wonderful tutorial on all the basics. I know what I'm gonna be doing the rest of this holiday weekend now.
