^ might just be because I am a misogynistic POS at heart but I love Californication and have watched it all the way through several times.

Even that last season (or two?) of Californication? because that was some of the worst television imaginable. Whichever season had his long lost son or whatever stupid plot that was.
That was as bad as adding Andrew Dice Clay to Entourage and getting Vince hooked on drugs.

Re: Remember (insert show)?
Several shows from my childhood keep popping up in my memory from time to time:
Automan
Manimal
Voyagers
The Highwayman
Misfits of Science
Sledge Hammer
Starman
Street Hawk
The Greatest American Hero
Airwolf
Blue Thunder
All of them were kitchy in their own right, but 8-11 year old me loved them and wanted more, but many of these only lasted one season or less.

The Great Space Coaster comes to mind:
However the show description (via wiki) doesn't ring the slightest bell whatsoever:
It ran for 5 years and 250 episodes and I only remember the intro.
However the show description (via wiki) doesn't ring the slightest bell whatsoever:
The Great Space Coaster is about three young singers (Francine, Danny, and Roy) who are brought to a habitable asteroid in space called Coasterville by a clown named Baxter who pilots the "space coaster", a roller coaster-like spaceship. The asteroid is populated by strange-looking, wise-cracking puppet characters such as Goriddle Gorilla, Knock Knock the Woodpecker, Edison the Elephant, and Gary Gnu (host of The Gary Gnu Show). Baxter is forever on the run from M.T. Promises, a nefarious ringmaster who plans to re-capture Baxter and return him to the circus he worked at before he escaped. Each episode ends with a different life lesson, and various celebrity guest stars (such as Mark Hamill of Star Wars fame and composer Marvin Hamlisch) occasionally dropped by.

Anyways, the only thing I remember about the ACE Awards specifically was that Wendy Malick won the Actress Comedy award like every single year for that dreadful show. Like the only reason to watch the show were her and the gratuitous random boobs in every episode.

I was going to ask if anyone remembers the Cable ACE Awards? They were like the Emmys, but for cable shows. That premise is hysterical now -- of course HBO and AMC shows cleaned up at the Emmys. I can't even think of the last truly Prestige scripted Network show from this century-- probably LOST or The Office.

This was kind of a X Files clone with a really cool cast. Carla Gugino, Peter Dinklage and Brent Spiner.... What I liked about the show was the changed perspective. Usually shows like this have people uncovering an alien invasion the conspiracy to cover up the invasion, while secret government section try are the adversaries. In Threshold Carla Gugino's team covering up the alien invasion.

For me it was Star Blazers (Space Cruiser Yamato) and Battle of the Planets (Gatchaman). I watched them both in syndication on weekday afternoons after school back in the late 70s.

Re: Remember (insert show)?

1966. Only ran for 17 episodes on ABC. The allies have a string of agents, Blue Light agents that have infiltrated Nazi high command and social circles. In the pilot a Gestapo agent tracks them all down and kills them except one who got away. Robert Goulet is the agent who wasn't caught. He was a famous correspondent in the U.S. like Edward R. Murrow, who's pretending to be a traitor. Doing broadcasts for the Nazis. Not only is that Gestapo agent still trying to find the last Blue Light agent, but any allied soldiers will kill him if he runs across them because they think he's a traitor.
In one episode Hitler's astrologer is on the brink of deciphering the date and location of the D-Day invasion. Goulet has to sneak into the astrologer's study and alter the astrological charts so he comes up with the wrong conclusions.
A three part episode dealt with Goulet getting inside an underground Nazi rocket factory and blowing it up. The three parts were edited together into a movie released theatrically. It was also released on DVD.

Larry Cohen was a co-creator / writer on the show and Lalo Schifrin did the theme. Shame it only lasted one season.

Re: Remember (insert show)?
I met a guy who collected tv shows on film. He had 35mm prints of all 17 episodes. He had them transferred to VHS. I got a set from him. Later I transferred them to DVD.
