Full trailer. Looks great and it’s actually in space!

Re: Star Trek: Picard (Paramount +) -- The 3rd and Final season -- Premieres 2/16/23

Seeing some buzz from reviewers on Twitter who are saying S3 is really good, and when pressed for their opinion on their first two seasons they admit that they weren't great. So that gives me some hope that the showrunners have finally figured out what they want to do with this concept now that they've reached their final season.

There are some people who saw the entire season and some who saw the 1st 6 episodes from what I read on Twitter. The vast majority say it's amazing.

This is what people wanted all along. A proper TNG reunion, not a deep dive into Picard's fears and failures.

That's not to say this won't be derailed but side plot nonsense.

Interesting. I never got that vibe at all. Not saying you're wrong, just that I never interpreted their clear affection for Picard (and his for them) as anything other than platonic.

I keep hearing this is great from critics who didn't particularly care for the first two seasons. I hope so...because that trailer just isn't doing it for me. I'm hoping it's just cut that way because they want non-Trek people to think there's a lot of non-stop action in this.

So basically just forget about S1 and S2. I can do that.

But I’ll miss early 21st century LA.

Even if it's great, it'll be hard for me to get past the idea that this isn't even the real Picard, but an android(?) duplicate of him.

Hopefully they never mention it again and I can maintain the illusion S1 never happened. Did they even mention it in S2?

Q does once in the second episode, Penance, but that's the last I recall it being referenced.

Except the part in the clinic where he fried the machinery.

I’m only watching this after the season finishes if the reviews are good all around but mostly from sources I trust for an opinion. I’ve been burnt by this show twice already and don’t need to see any more of dumping on TNG.

Interesting. I saw a Screen Rant review link earlier which was titled "best Trek since DS9".

Is there a decent summary of s2? Bailed after the first episode but may want to check out s3.

Honestly it’s what I expected after the first two seasons. Supposedly season two was supposed to be a course correction from the first. I didn’t believe that was going to happen with the third.

It feels like this is leaning into false nostalgia bait again. Getting all these characters back together again but they’re still not back in the way you want them to be.

I'll watch it because I'm a sucker for all things Trek and TNG is still my favorite Trek. I enjoyed the first two seasons for what they were, which was disposable entertainment containing some of my favorite characters. This isn't a series I will rewatch over and over like other Trek.

For those who care, preview of Season 3, includes Ready Room with Patrick Stewart and Gates McFadden:

Like everyone I hated Wesley Crusher but I could separate the actor from the role. Will Weaton is so over-enthusiastic here that I'm starting to hate the actor.

I used to think Wil Wheaton was given too much shit and to be fair I don’t hate Wesley, but he’s been so obnoxious on The Ready Room. Just cringey.
