Yeah, it seemed incidental. I liked the prison stuff, though. That was some hardcore shit.

Bunny continues to be the best character on the show.

iris continues to be the biggest waste of space.

I swear 50% of this show are shots of Mike driving around in his Lincoln. I laughed when he got out of his car back at his office, he got a call on his cell, said "fuck" basically, jumped back in his car and more of him driving.

Yep, I noticed the same thing - this is exactly like Ray Donovan. We're always seeing Ray driving somewhere and then he gets a phone call, which makes him turn around or go somewhere else. He arrives at that place and has a quick discussion and then leaves... and we see him driving again and then he gets another call. I mentioned that in one of the Ray Donovan threads. Ray is a fixer and in a different way, so is Mike.

RE: Today's new episode

The shit brewing in "tent city" is getting on my nerves, because it's stagnant now. I did like the subplot with the found loot and what that entails.

Just got caught up with Sunday's episode. A lot of shit going down in the prison. That guy getting torched was wild.

How does Mike even operate his business when he's never there? His poor assistant and her thankless job.

And the episode flowed so much better without Iris and her antics.

I thought the first season was just OK, but this second season is dragging.
Episode after episode is Mike promising Bunny to hang on while he tries to get him out of prison, and then meeting with people to try and get Bunny out of prison.

I'm not following all the intricate details of the storyline either.

The 2nd season is quite repetitive, but I still like it a lot. I'm pretty sure the assassination doesn't get the result Bunny is hoping for. I guess by the end of the season all of Kingstown is burning. The SWAT Team is under investigation, the warden has to deal with his beat downs of the prisoners and now Mike hasn't that much influence on the prison ruled by the AB.

Totally agree on this, was just getting annoyed, but I do think this most recent episode picked things up some. I was tired of seeing Mike on the ropes all the time, and this seemed to have him back in better form.
The DA's comment about "deals get made and broken all the time" seemed odd. A DA who backs out of deals all the time absent some big breach by the other side wouldn't do too well. They made him seem like quite a tool, and walking to his car with AirPods in just added to it and didn't seem too bright.

The newest episode pick up even more now, with the drones. Good to see the pressure ease up on Bunny. What I don't like is that the episode run times are getting even shorter. This episode was 34 minutes with credits and the recap.

Re: Mayor of Kingstown (Paramount +) - S: Jeremy Renner - From EP Taylor Sheridan - 11/14/21

at how Mike is always at the right place at the right time. 1st he stops a gang shooting and they all laugh at off, then he just happens to see the guy operating the drone drug drops and then stops that.

Nice to see Kenny Johnson back. This is such a different character compared to Luca on SWAT.

Oh why did they have to have Kyle see Iris and call Mike. I don't mind the actress Emma Laird. But the character really serves no purpose other than Mike trying to be her savior.

and yes the episodes are getting shorter and shorter. But, Sheridan actually has a writing staff here unlike his other shows which he does practically all by himself.

I appreciate the episodes being shorter because there's not much that happens to justify longer episodes.

Jesus. what a brutal way to end season 2. I kinda thought maybe place an air tag in the bag, but damn.. I guess that's the way to take Milo out. Still a lot of unresolved shit if there is a season 3. I dunno how Mike even wants to do what he does, he's just a mediator between everyone, but for some crazy reason he also holds a certain amount of power. And all of this was dumped on him after Mitch was killed.

Re: Mayor of Kingstown (Paramount +) - S: Jeremy Renner - From EP Taylor Sheridan - 11/14/21

S2 was horrible. Just a bunch of boring back and forth and then the finally give us something interesting in the season finale.

With Renner's situation and with how this show is going, I really doubt a S3 will happen unless they just decide to do a mini-reboot with a new lead.
Not everything was resolved, but this could still be considered a series finale as we've seen some other shows do it where it ended bitter-sweet with some unresolved story lines.

Wow, that felt like a series wrap up, especially with Mike’s narration at the end. And that was pretty anticlimactic how Milo got taken out.

There are still some loose threads, but I wouldn’t be horrendously disappointed if this didn’t get a third season.

Was super confused with the call from Milo after the boat.

Yep, agreed, that made no sense. There is no way this can be called a series finale in any way.... except that Renner is potentially unable to act anymore. Milo lived? Bunny declared war on the police, hits were put out by the AB, the District AD is in all sorts of trouble, etc etc. I liked the season overall but the wrap-up was lame.

That is GREAT news!! This show deserves proper closure with Bunny and the inevitable gang war he's bringing to Mike's crew.

I'm glad that Renner is back to full health now and can work on a 3rd season.

But, realistically I wouldn't expect this until 2025. Sheridan and his team have a lot to work on whenever the strikes end. But fortunately for this show, there is actually a writer's room and Sheridan isn't the showrunner.

Dianne Wiest, who plays Renner’s Mom, won’t be back for season 3.

scripts for season 3 are apparently already written.

^^ And I'm ok with that. She was my least favorite character on the show.

Showtime is airing season 1 on Sunday nights.

They need it to fill airtime with the writers strike?

Renner says he goes back to filming season 3 next week

https://variety.com/2023/film/news/j...73e828aa12daf1

It's possible season 3 could be ready by Fall or Winter 2024. I doubt they would want to hold it until 2025 and it's not a show that has extensive sets, action and special effects.

Re: Mayor of Kingstown (Paramount +) - S: Jeremy Renner - From EP Taylor Sheridan - 11/14/21

I just finished season 2 a week or two ago so I’m looking forward season 3!

I’m glad Renner is feeling good enough to get back to work. This seems like a good project to start with since he probably doesn’t have to be super physical with the role.
